Sign In to Show Your SupportThree years ago today, I heard the words, "We found cancer cells in the biopsies," from the surgeon who would remove the cancer from my breast. I am glad she put it that way, "we found cells," and did not say, "You have cancer." Finding cells is something that is deal-with-able; having cancer makes the cancer my identity, to the exclusion of other parts of me. I am still Ann, daughter, sister, pastor, friend, all the things; cancer is not my only/primary identity! Yes, I am a cancer survivor, and that is a part of me, but not all of me.
This journey started three years ago, in early April, and ended in mid-September. I have been forever changed, in good ways, and in challenging ways. Thanks to all of my friends and family who have supported and encouraged me.

PLEASE be sure to be diligent about getting your annual health screenings! I know they aren't "fun," but they can save your life. You matter to your family, your friends, your colleagues, to strangers. Don't put them off!
