Newest Update

Journal entry by Anna Martin

Last week I had my first A/C treatment. Everyone I know who has gone through this treatment warned me how rough it is, and boy were they right. I think I naively thought that since I had done so well on the first 12 Taxol treatments without too many side effects, I wouldn't be hit as hard, but unfortunately that hasn't been the case.

I'm sure it could be much, much worse but I've spent much of the last week battling extreme fatigue, nausea and digestive issues - not a very fun combination. Some days have been better than others and I've still maintained a somewhat normal home and work schedule, but this is definitely challenging me harder than my other treatments.

I've been told I should start feeling better in the coming days and I am very much welcoming the next few weeks off of chemo infusions. Right before I started A/C, I learned from my oncologist that my insurance would only cover treatment every three weeks, versus every two weeks that we were planning on. So my next treatment isn't until May 10. I was pretty frustrated at first but now that it's here, I think having some more "normal" time between treatments will be a good thing.

I hope my next update is a bit more positive. I appreciate all the check-ins this past week. I just have so much love for our village.
