No big-time miracle YET. The cancer is still there, BUT the Dr is happy with her scan results. The goal was to stop growth, but we have actually done a little better and achieved some shrinkage (he calls this icing on the cake). That is good. (Though it would be better if it was just gone! But we can keep praying for that).
The results are good enough that she can stop treatment at this round and return every two months for scans. But there are also other options.
Relatively speaking, her body has been tolerating chemo well, but he does wonder if additional treatments might get even better results. So Angel will need to choose. She can proceed with additional treatments, hoping the chemo will do more good than harm in the fight against the cancer with a 5th or 6th round. Or she can stop now and begin the recovery process so her body is as strong as possible when the cancer starts growing again, and she needs to start treatment again.
There are no guarantees either way, and, of course, the labs have to show that her body continues to tolerate treatment. So far, there has been a steady decline in some numbers, but they are still within range. There are no guarantees we will get any more progress with more chemo, so it could be hard on her body for nothing. But it also might push the cancer down even more. Decisions.
Thank you for your prayers, your encouragement, your support. As far as the cancer is concerned, Angel is better than she was in February, and that is worth celebrating!
