Welcome to Andrew’s CaringBridge Site
Sign In to Show Your SupportQuick update for a big milestone - Andrew is cleared to walk! We had his appointment with the orthopedic doctor yesterday morning, and Andrew has been cleared to start walking with his boot on. His ankle seems to be healing well, and for that we are so thankful. He is using a walker while he regains his strength and balance, but as with everything, he is progressing quickly.
His scapula fracture also appears to be healing well, although the orthopedic doctor has scheduled Andrew for an MRI to ensure no rotator cuff tear on his left side. We are praying hard this MRI comes back clear, as we’d like to avoid another surgery and any potential setbacks.
On Monday, Andrew will meet with his doctor from the inpatient rehab facility for a check-up, and also will meet with his neurologist to discuss how his back is healing. We are hoping Andrew can get out of the back brace ASAP. Our next steps will be outpatient PT to help Andrew gain strength.
Tomorrow marks six weeks from the accident, and slowly but surely we are seeing snippets of normalcy return to our lives. Last night we spent the evening celebrating a friend’s birthday, and it was so fun to eat good food, enjoy great company, and spend many hours laughing (although Andrew’s poor ribs will be sore for that today 🫣). We are so thankful for these moments of normalcy - it’s not lost on us how fortunate we are to be able to enjoy them.
