Journal entry by Lauren Morrison —
This last week was a big one for us - it was our first family vacation since Addy was diagnosed! We were able to fly to CO to meet up with Michael's family for some skiing. We usually go with them over New Year's, but the week got moved back this year so that we could hopefully make it, and we are so glad we did (despite Addy's numbers dropping so recently, all of her doctors encouraged us to go and get a break). We flew out last Saturday, spent a night in Denver and got to see my Aunt, then drove out to the mountains with all of Michael's immediate family. We are so thankful that all 14 of us stayed well and safe through the trip.
Addy went skiing a little bit, but her legs just aren't ready for it, so we made the decision for her to try again next year and the girls spent the rest of the trip playing with their cousins, doing crafts, riding the gondola, and playing in the snow. Addy was even able to go in the hot tub, which she loved - we taped her line up and sat her on a high step, and her wonderful cousins were very patient and avoided splashing around her (which is so hard for kids!)
It was so good for all of us to get away from our normal schedule and spend time with family, but Michael and I were honestly so relieved to come back and get labs today. It felt like such a long time without knowing what's going on! Thankfully, her numbers were fantastic and we are able to get back to normal life. We are working on the last month of kindergarten before summer break, and going back to PT to get those ski legs ready for next year!
