tami...I just wanted you to know that there are people out there and I'm sure u are not aware of how many. I have people mention this web site and make comments such as: "How come tami has so much trouble getting things done for Amber." How does she manage with sooo many headaches when you are trying to get something done." and may other comments. So don't worry I do not even know how many of my friends check on your Amber's web site. This is my way of checking on things without bothering you. We love you and wish we could do more. Even if they do not write in the guestbook...They are there!! Pam & Grandma Heiss

Tami,

I loved when you talked about Amber and Tori laying together talking and looking at Tori's phone. I thought it was the cutest thing too! Wish I would have seen that interaction! It has been a true pleasure and blessing to be paired with you and your amazing family! Love the website and I have been checking it a lot lately!

Tami,
I totally wish I was closer because I would for sure help care for Miss Amber! She is so very precious! I will pray that things work out for you all. Totally get what you mean with the whole doctor issue too...cuz I'm trying to figure out how to get to a doc that could help me get a diagnosis. Well...no luck. Sending hugs! Sorry it's been so long since I've signed the guestbook...I do check on you all the time, just don't always have a chance to write on the guestbook.

You need a warning on your website that says: "The reading of my journal entries could cause high blood pressure." :-) Every time I read one of your entries my heart starts racing and I get SO mad. Hi! I'm sorry to hear that you are going through problems with the school system as well. My daughter is 6 and also has rett's. I keep thinking it most just be me having problems with the schools, then I get on here and see the same things going on. Dear Amber and Tami,
I am so glad that your doctor referred you to a communication clinic! I am very familiar with communication devices, having used them in my work with kids with disabilities and also helping my Papa who has ALS. He is working on getting an eye-gaze system for his computer. Since Amber does not know how to spell, her devices would most likely be different than his. Anyway, I'm glad you're on your way to getting some answers. Please know that you're always in my thoughts and prayers.

After finding all of Amber's unused food in her backpack, I'm pretty sure I'd be screaming until someone heard me. That's unacceptable. If you don't get results from PPC, call Anne Grady directly and ask to talk with Jen Metzger, Social Worker. That's just not acceptable. They are liable for filling out false paperwork. They have to keep a record on every person in their care, what was done to them, behaviors, incidents . . . everything! Unacceptable, just unacceptable. I'm ticked! Don't let them off the hook on this one, Tami. They need to be accountable. Let me know if you need other contact names.

Sounds like you gained tons of information in Chicago. How do you even remember all of it?? So, maybe Amber can get off nearly all her meds now. Wouldn't that be a blessing. Now if you could only coordinate the doctors here with the doctors in Chicago . . . maybe the doctors here will start listening to you now.

Just thinking about you and your family this time of year. Hope you are all excited for the Christmas time! It is hard to believe almost a year ago we granted your wish to go to Disney World! Hope you all have a great holiday.

Wow! Amber is finally getting a ramp. How long before that turns into a sledding hill/skateboard ramp/cool slide? Won't that be fun. That will certainly make your life much easier. Hopefully they'll be able to get it in before it snows (oops! too late - snowing lots now). The teacher's notes are priceless. What a great way to keep your family updated on what's happening at school.

HI Heiss Family. Sorry I haven't checked in for a while. Our computers have been back and forth for repair several times. Very frustrating. Your family has been very busy with one thing or another. I can't even imagine taking your family of 7 plus another 4 boys to Cedar Point (and I KNOW all of those boys!). You're very brave to say the least. I'm sure it was a blast for all the kids at least.

I will be praying about Amber and her seizures. Must be scary and frustrating at the same time.

Tami, did you get to go to Sauder's last weekend? I sure wish I could've been there. I'm sure it would've been a blast.

Hi Amber! My name is Peggy and we have a daughter, Darci who was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome last February. She turned 3 on August 9th. A day after your birthday!! She started school two weeks ago and likes the bus also. I think she likes the bumpity, bumps. School really wears her out though. My husband and I also have a 16 year old daughter and 2 boys, 14 and 9. We live in central IL. I liked reading your caring bridge site and you are welcome to visit Darci's. It is www.caringbridge.org/visit/darcipoppen. Have fun at Cedar Point. We've not been there, but drove past it once and have read about it. Sounds great!

Wow! Your Make A Wish party brought tears to my eyes. How wonderful that the whole sorority took such an interest in your family and helped to make Amber's wish even more special. You are a very special family and are a blessing to many, many people. Amber - thanks for sharing your extra cupcakes with the 7th grade small group. Mr. Keller had a blast doing a 'cupcake eating contest' with the kids. Be sure to ask Jay about it. Have a GREAT time at Disney this week. See you soon.

Hi Heiss Family,
Wanted to drop online to say big hello! Great to hear Amber is doing well! We love Mocha (the kitten you gave to us) very much everyday and he definitely has some Barb's warm and energetic spirits! He slept with my Dad for an hour or two today when he visited us!

Mocha was very naughty sometimes, he loves to dig all papers out of trash, climb our Christmas tree everyday, sleeps with E-V-E-R-Y-O-N-E including 2 dogs, and many other things.

Hi Amber! You are so very beautiful! We love your site, and are glad you are feeling great now! Our daughter, Sophia,3, is also a Rett Angel, and we go to Chicago to see the RS specialists twice a year. We hope you get to go there, too. We understand not wanting to travel- we drove from IA to see Dr. Motil and Dr. Percy in December, 2005. Way too long of a trip! Sophia's next clinic weekend is Nov. 4&5- still a big trip for her, but tons closer. You keep getting stronger, and stay well. We will be praying for you, little one.

I certainly know how frustrating schools can be with any kind of special need, so I feel for you guys. I really hope that this classroom works out for Amber. Hey, guys. Checking in again to see if things have improved at school. Looks like they have. I asked for prayer in staff meeting on Tuesday. I also sent an email to all of the office ladies asking them to pray for your family while you advocate for Amber. Many of them checked out the link to Amber's page. I know you had lots and lots of prayers going up for you that day. I'm sure God will continue to guide and provide for all your needs.

Wow. I was following Amber's progress while she was in Texas, and everything looked like it was going great. Then she came home and went to school. What a let down. I'm so very sorry. Tami, I will definitely be praying for you and Karl that God will show you exactly what to do about school for Amber. I can't imagine making the tough calls that you have to make sometimes. Hopefully you will be able to update her IEP since you are armed with some newer information after returning from Texas. I remember one of the 'musts' was air conditioning since she can't sweat. I don't recall which school she was going to be at this fall. I've only heard positive things about J. Shuer. Is that an option? Again, I know God will direct you in the right path. As awful as you must be feeling today, it will get better. I know it will. I will definitely ask all of our family to pray tonight and all of the ladies at work tomorrow. Keep us posted on Amber's page (even when you don't feel like it.) :)

Hi Amber and family!
Sorry it's taken me soo long to get to your page. I checked on you yesterday I just didn't sign the guestbook. Funny how that is right? Lol. Anyway, I'm just checking on you. Just got home from work at the Nursing Home. I love the job and it's great for me. The love I get from the residents is great. No pay, as it's volunteer work but hey I couldn't care less! Lol. That's just the way I am. Anyway, I'm glad you were able to get things figured out at the Rett Clinic in Texas. I think we need more of those around the US so all the Rett Angels have the great care they need. They need someone to specialize on Rett Syndrome because it's such a complicated syndrome. So much is included with it. Please know you're always in my thoughts and prayers.
Sending all my love and hugs,
Sami

Hi Tami and Amber. I know you are so anxious to see the Texas doctor again. I will be praying that everything works out with your flights and that Hayley will be free and get to sit by you guys. That's quite a load! Amber looks so peaceful when she's sleeping on her wedge. I'd like to borrow it sometime to get a decent night's sleep. How about it, Amber? Are you willing to loan it out? What a great blessing that you've been able to get so many cool new things for Amber. I know God is sending the right people your way with just what you need and when you need it. He'll send the right person that knows about the Ferrel tubes, too. It just has to be the right time. We'll all be praying for your trip. Hayley is totally excited. She was telling Mollie all about it. Don't worry, Tami. Hayley's cool about it and a great girl. I'll check in on you again soon.

Hi Tami and Amber, thanks for signing Princess Kalair's guestbook! We hope you guys can get the tummy issues resolved soon, they are NO fun! We tried a farrel bag some years ago and it didn't work for us, but hopefully you can get one soon and see if it will work for Amber. Oh, two thoughts on the venting thing and messes (we have fed the bed, couch, etc. our share of times, LOL!)...now I put the bolus syringe inside a ziploc bag when we are venting Kalair and push the tip of the syringe through a corner of the ziploc before attaching it to the gtube extension. Then if the tube overflows, it goes into the ziploc bag instead of everywhere, also I know how much food/residuals Kalair has lost that way since it is in the bag instead of all over the bed. I hope this makes some kind of sense, I wish I could draw you a picture, but email me if you have questions. Oh, my other idea was, could you velcro her tube to her clothes so she can move around easier? We haven't had to do this, because Kalair only needs to be vented at night time and she can't move around as much as Amber does because it is hard for her to breathe in many positions, but that was just a thought... We will be praying that you guys can get everything resolved and that your trip to Texas will help you guys know better how to help your little princess. Next week we are taking Kalair's little brother, Arturo, to Utah for his third trip in a drug trial and Miracle Flights is helping us as well. Oh, and speaking of Arturo, that reminds me, I read you entry about swimming and I'd really like to get some of those ankle weights for him too. Did you order them online, or could you tell me where I could get some? Whew, what a long guestbook entry, LOL! We will be keeping Princess Amber in our thoughts and prayers...

Sincerely,
Liz, Tim, Shay, Princess Kalair and Prince Arturo

Hi, Amber. Wow, two days of no crying and you got rid of your big sister, Haley, for a night. How fun was that! Haley told me Mariah's been at it again with the scissors. You think you could teach her to leave the haircuts to the hair stylist? Just between you and me, Mariah doesn't do a very good job on her own hair! Keep smiling, Amber. You're so cute.

Hey,
I am sooo glad you figured things out! Hopefully you can figure something more out at the Rett Clinic in Texas. I haven't been feeling that great...sinus problems! grrr...I took down my page because of bad comments..so I hope we can still keep in contact. Anyway, I will be praying for you lots, that you'll have better days and you can get things figured out soon. I understand what you mean by not wanting to leave Amber when she is crying and in pain. And the fact that you know Amber the best. I felt the same way with my rett angel. I was her best friend...her mom understood her and all that, but I felt I could talk to her and she could tell me how she felt even without talking. I hope you have a wonderful week!

hi amber!

i'm so sorry i haven't signed your guestbook in so long! i've been thinking of you and your whole family, though! You are so precious! Did anyone ever tell you you are a beautiful girl? Well..i'm sure EVERYONE has told you that! And I can tell you are beautiful inside and out! I am so glad you are feeling better (knock on wood)! I hope you can figure out something so maybe you could just see the horses and not ride on them...hmm. I"m sure your mom has it all under control, though! And i'm so glad you finally found some good doctors who actually care about you, and not about how many patients they see or how much money they make! And having the nurse make appointments for you is SUCH a lifesaver!!! making appointments eats up so much time and energy and then they book way out so u have to call the doc anyway to try and get back in sooner...so it's just great when the dr.'s offices make the appts for you! okay, i'm done rambling! but i really hope this upswing continues! sending big hugs and lots of love your way!! :)
HUGS,

(((HUGS))) to Amber! And to you too. I'm sorry Amber's tummy is causing so much distress. I hope the new meds help some. I don't know if this would help much, but we use a heated teddy bear (from grampa's garden, they have a website) on Emma's tummy when she has bad gas (venting too). She also takes Levsin for it (although too much of that worsens the constipation--of course!). I don't know if the docs would want Amber on L-Carnitor, or if she is already, but it is helping Emma's bowels a lot. It's a supplement, with not side effects other than a fishy smell & diarrhea. We have her dose just right now so that she has a bm every day (usually) & is only on miralax as needed. The L-Carnitor has helped her constipation more than anything else!! Praying for Amber to get some relief. Take care. (((HUGS)))

I can't believe you're going through so much. Good thing the Rett Clinic in Houston may be able to help. I remember so much about BMs with Ash. She would cry and cry and I remember her stomach would be rock hard. She didn't have a tube, so I couldn't "vent" her. It's heartbreaking. I hope you get better soon sweetie!

Tami and Amber,
I am so sorry that Amber is not doing well. I remember when my Rett angel would have her crying spells, I can't tell you how much it broke my heart. I understand your problem, I have been having some kind of problem like that with digesting food and it is a pain! I hope she gets some relief soon! Poor baby! Stay with your mama instinct, if you don't think something is right then go with your gut. Don't let anyone stand in your way. Mom telepathy is amazing. I always trust moms when they have a feeling something is wrong with their child. That instinct is a strong one. Nothing is stronger than the bond between a mother and her child. Praying hard for better days.

What wonderful pictures of all the beautiful Rett angels you met. Their eyes tell so many stories. Glad to hear what a good time you had, & the information you received. While we are no longer on the "Rett path," I can tell you I will never forget all I learned about RS & the families living with it everyday. What's interesting, as we learn more about mito--there are many similarities between it & RS. There are several girls who, like Emma, were thought to have Rett, but then go on to have a mito dx. We go on 5/25 for Emma's muscle biopsy, I will keep you posted. Thank you for all your support throughout this journey! I love coming by & reading about Amber & seeing her precious pictures! I love this update. Let me know if you get in to Extreme Home Makover so I can watch, it would be nice to see someone I know get their dream home. How wonderful for your church to care about you so much! That's how my church is, my friend Aleia will be getting a Habitat Home and the church is supporting them and helping them out with it. I am doing as much as I possibly can. I know and can relate with certain disabilities and wanting to get a new home that is more accesible to Amber's needs. I have to tell you, I understand about the breath-holding. When I did see my friend with RS, she used to turn blue and hold her breath, sometimes she just did it and would gasp after a while, other times it meant a seizure. But, if Amber doesn't have those kind of seizures I wouldn't worry. Seeing Amber and hearing about her brings back a lot of wonderful memories for me. Thank you, by the way, for your message on my guestbook. I really appreciate it. Please know that you are always in my thoughts and prayers.

Her dentist sees a lot of special needs kids too (several Rett girls too, which is why we chose her), & they were incredible with Em! Hope the therapies go well! You are in our prayers!! Take care. Hey there! Happy Valentine’s Day!! Sorry about the mess at the hair salon...but I just KNOW that this is one of those stories you’ll laugh about years from now. And don’t worry, when we meet in Toledo you don’t need to care about anything happening in front of me! Speaking of that, I just want to let you know that I’ll be there May 21st- 24th.

About the songs, there are waaaay too many to give you a list, but really, tell me anything you want and I’ll put it on your page. Hope you’re having a great week– I’ll check back soon!!

Dear Amber,
Your Aunt Barb was a friend of mine, so I know all about you. She loved you very much and was proud of all that you are and all you are able to do. Aunt Barb and I worked together. I am a music therapist, and have met many wonderful young girls who also have Rett Syndrome. Therefore, I was pleased to be able to make a contribution in memory of your Aunt Barb. She taught so many of us how to live, and also how to accept death with grace and faith. I miss her very much but know the world is a better place because she walked upon it.
Best regards to you and your family,
Marcia

Hi there!

It's been a while since I've stopped by, and I am so, so, sorry to hear about your aunt. It sounds like she was such a wonderful person, and I know that she will be very missed. It does seem like she touched lots of lives and made a real impact in this world.

About your page- I think it's been 3 years since you asked about it (sorry!). If you have the song, would you mind emailing it to me? If not, I'll find a copy and just put it on, if that's ok.

Well, I really hope that Amber is feeling well, and that haha you have the poop issues under control. I can't believe about her doctor! Makes you remember how precious life is. Well, have a great weekend and, again, condolences about your aunt.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that Aunt Barb has now passed away, but how wonderful for her to be with Jesus and pain free finally! I prayed and thought about your family often through all of this. What a blessing that you were able to see her one last time here on earth. It's great to know that you will see her again in heaven and she will look terrific. Just think . . . Amber will be able to walk up to her Aunt Barb and talk to her! Isn't that cool. I'll continue to pray this week as you prepare for the funeral.

Amber looks terrific in her walker. She's making remarkable progress. You go girl!

Hey there! Happy New Year (or is it too late to still be saying that?)!! I am so, so sorry that I’ve been out of touch recently. I do think about you guys, especially Amber, all the time. Also so sorry that I never responded to your email– I’m still getting caught up with them, but expect an email from me in the next couple days. I am, though, glad to hear that Amber is doing well and had fun at Build A Bear. This is a funny question, but what mall did you go to? When I was in Toledo, I made a bear at the Franklin Park Mall. Hope you all are feeling and doing well. Have a great weekend!

Hi guys!
I am soo happy that Amber TALKED!!! Lately I have been thinking a lot about Ashley and it makes me happy to hear that someone with Rett Syndrome can talk. That is just awesome and I am so proud of you Amber! You go girl! Sorry to hear that Amber was throwing up. Unforunately, a lot of girls with RS do not like lots of people. Can't say I blame them, I have never been one for crowds myself. Anyway, I am really happy that things are going well. Dr. Miller sounds absolutely amazing. She seems to know a lot about RS and that is good. I don't think a lot of Ashley's caregivers and teachers actually knew what she had. Lucky for her, her best friend Sami figured some things out. ;) Please pray that I will be able to see Ashey again soon. I miss her very much and if I could get her page back up I would be SOO HAPPY! Thanks for visiting my page and signing the guestbook. I hope you have a wonderful New Year. God bless you all, I am always thinking of you and praying for you.

I'm glad to hear that Amber is doing good. I hate those stool sample tests. LOL I know what you mean about being frustrated and happy that she can grab the tube. Emily does that every time I try to put meds through her g-tube. She grabs at the tube. On one hand I am THRILLED that she can coordinate that action! Amber was so pretty in church on Sunday. She sure did laugh when I imitated her riding the horse. I love it when she laughs. Can't wait for Christmas.

I hope she feels better and doesn't cry. Love, Grandma Bonnie

Doctors can be so frustrating at times. I am glad however he took the time to listen to your concerns and is doing something about it.

Reflux is a real problem, my daughter Aleia is also on the soluable tablets, they are wonderful, I just wish she could tell me where it hurt and when it hurt so I know we are treating her for the right thing. With all the medications she takes for her seizures I am pretty sure it is reflux though.

You are a very pretty girl and have a wonderful and amazingly large family. Nice to know you have so many family members to look after you.

Mom, I will pray for your strentgh! I too am faced with a sick child right now and a terminal Father-In-Law. It is just a matter of days right now. The VA hospital transported him home via ambulance because that is where he wants to die. It is killing my ex-husband to see this happen to his Dad. It is killing me because I know when he is gone my children will be so upset and I don't know if I will be stong enough to help them through the grieving. What can we do other then pray for God's help and strength. I will pray for you tonight and that your Aunt passes painfree. Love and hugs to you!

Hey there! I’m glad to hear that the GI appointment went well– it’s sounds like he’s doing the best to help. I SO wish that I could have met you guys when I was in Toledo. There actually are quite a few people that I had wanted to get together with, but things got a bit crazy right before we left. I’ll be going back in about six months, though, so hopefully we’ll be able to figure something out then. Hope you all have a good week!

Hi guys!
I'm so glad to hear Amber is doing better! She deserves it! I know what you mean about GI Drs. I've heard bad things too. But it will be okay, maybe he will figure out what's wrong with Amber. Great also, to hear that you have the RettNet Support System. I love it too! Thanks for your support. You guys are in my thoughts and prayers!

Hi Amber

sorry to hear about the constipation, we are right there with you on that as Hannah suffers from it too. Only today we were in Cosco and we had a crying fit and spent half an hour in the bathroom trying to do a poop.

YOu just feel so helpless

I hope you got a better night sleeps and things have improved now

Praying that you & Amber have better days ahead, and that her tummy gets to feeling better. Emma has had horrible GI issues since she was born--everyone used to say it was just colic. She is milk & soy protein intolerant (also intolerant of corn, nuts), had a fundo for her reflux, and also a mic-key button. She is on Neocate Jr., and that has helped her tummy troubles immensely (except for the constipation...). Do they think Amber is having any problems with digesting her foods? It can be very painful & cause mucus in stools. Anyway, not sure what Amber is dealing with, but hope she gets some relief SOON! Take care.

Hi Amber! I should've known you weren't feeling well when I saw your mom Saturday. I could just tell by the look on her face at Junior Bible Quiz. Haley wasn't herself either. You are so very special to your family, and they worry so much when you're feeling yucky. I sure hope you're feeling better today. You need to get up and running for all that yummy turkey and stuffing. Have a super happy Thanksgiving.

awww Amber has a boyfriend! That's SO CUTE! lol Glad to hear Amber is doing so well!! I wish Ashley could talk and things like that, but I think she is too far regressed. Anyway, I am delighted with Amber's progress just within the past week! She went from being sick to talking, that's just awesome!!! From what I have heard, Ashley is doing pretty good. She has been at school almost every day. Earlier she did have a double ear infection, but she snapped out of it pretty quickly. Yeah! Here's hoping you are doing well, and are happy and healthy. Amber is such a beautiful Rett Angel, she deserves the very best!

Amber had another great day at school. We really missed her Thursday. Every day she amazes us at something she does. Today she took it easy for a while - falling asleep in the beanbag chair in the reading center. She looked so comfy laying there with her legs crossed. She woke up and participated in circle time and snack. She hits the "more please" button consistently! We went out on the playground and she really enjoyed sitting on the climbing things with the other kids. I hope her appointment goes well tomorrow and she makes it to class!

Hi guys!
You know, someday I keep thinking...why doesn't Ashley meet some fellow Rett Angels? Well...the only problem is that there is only one in our town other than her, and the fact that I am having a heck of a time getting ahold of her mommy. Anyway, glad to hear Amber is doing so well. The Baby Einstein movies and CDs can be LIFESAVERS! But, it's great that Amber was able to grab at things and able to tell you what she wanted. That picture of her and Skylar is SO CUTE! I love knowing that Amber has a friend with RS! Someday I wish I could find a Rett Angel that Ashley could have as a friend. Oh well, it's an on-going project. Thanks for your help and support, my thoughts and prayers are with you!

I think you've done such a great job on amber's website! It's informational as well as beautiful! I'm sure you have many trying days and I agree with something you had written (the scripture)...I'm sure God has placed amber in a great home filled with love. I know my son's Jacob (last year) remember meeting in the playroom at st.v's? ..Jacob had his tonsils taken out and refused to drink?! and Trevor (this year) enjoy Amber very much. She's a beautiful little girl! your family are in our thoughts and prayers and thank you for the opportunity to learn more about rhett syndrome.

So, just want you to know I will be praying for Amber and your whole family.

What a beautiful little girl you are. Looks like you have a bunch of brothers and sisters who are able to help Mom and Dad take care of you. How Nice!! My daughter Aleia is supplemented via G-tube. At one point in her life she was strictly fed via G-tube, then one day I was holding her eating a ham sandwich, she hooked her arm around mine, brought the sandwich to her mouth and took a huge bite. I was thinking in a few minutes I would have a soggy mess to clean up but lo and behold, she grabbed my sandwich again and took a huge bite. This of course at the time was bad because she was on a very strict diet (The keto-genic diet) for epilepsy. The carbohydrates from the bread caused a huge seizure the next day. OOPPPSSSS!! She eats really well now, except on bad seizure days. We also keep the G-tube because she can't swallow liquids. She has a delay which causes her to choke on fluids. We are working on it though by introducing small amounts at a time.

Having a child with a cold can really be a bummer but when it is a child that also has special needs it just seems to be such a bigger deal. You know thas especially with seizures, the slightest temperature can make them have so many more seizures. Even a slight cold can put Aleia in the hospital. Luckily she stays pretty healthy as far as bad colds are concerned.

We took Aleia Horse back riding once, she didn't really react to it like I wish she would have. So I really don't know if she enjoyed it or not. I hear it can be very good therapy!

I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Get rid of that nasty cold and I hope you get to enjoy the horses again.

Giving you a BIG bear hug!

Hey!

I’ve been thinking about you guys all day– I had a neuro appointment yestruday and all over the waiting room were these huge posters about “Rett Syndrome Awareness Month”. They also had a bunch of posters with Julia Roberts on them, and brochures explaining what Rett Syndrome was. So I just had to tell you about it :D.

I’m sorry to hear that you guys are both sick. It seems like everyone has a cold right now! The riding place definitely looks fun, though. And your kittens are so cute. I’m sure that they’re a handful, but aww they’re adorable.

To answer your question, I mostly read fiction/novels, but I’m definitely an eclectic reader, and will read anything. I actually just finished the book Savage Inequalities by Jonathan Kozol which was really interesting. Especially now that I’m home so much I read all the time– everything from The Basic Writings of Sigmund Freud to Harry Potter to Wuthering Heights. Lol!

Anyway, I hope that you’re feeling better, and are having a good week. I’ll check back soon!

Hi Amber and her family

We just thought we'd send you a photo of our latest vacation.

Its great to hear that Amber is doing well and we certainly know what you mean about how our children open our eyes up to a different world

I know you read Hannah's birthday message and I really think it amazing the new friends we have made because of our children that we would never have made before. They really do make us better mom's, better friends and better people. Our children definitely show us the world as it is meant to be seen

Hope you have a great day

Sending you our warmest wishes

My husband has such a special love for Amber and always goes to her when he sees her. Amber brings us such joy and strength. I'm sorry that Amber is having such a rough time. It is SO HARD to not be able to know what is bothering these little ones. That's the worst part of Emily's screaming fits. I hope that the GI appt tomorrow and the button change helps her out. I agree, Reglan is not a nice drug. How great that Amber's friend will be able to visit her this summer. That is wonderful! She sounds like such a joy. :) I talked to Emily's neurologist today about the possibility of Rett Syndrome for Emily. He is going to take blood to test for something (MECP or something?) to rule it out. Also he is ordering a spinal tap to rule in/out cerebral folate deficiency (which when googled, sounds very similar to Rett Syndrome). Anyway, the reason I asked the neuro about Rett is because Emily is so similar to Amber. Crossing my fingers that we'll have an answer, any answer, soon. Hang in there, I hope you have a GREAT weekend!

It sounds like Amber is doing okay! The days will get better .. although to be honest you will have days like that occasionally. The ability to vent the tummy is SO great though, isn't it! That sound is amazing, the force that the air and stuff can come into the syringe with is strong. I'm glad you're getting used to the pump. As for not getting the amount of formula into her for the day .. we often don't get the total amount in each day. I figure as long as we are close, it's better than before. Before the g-tube Emily ate only 10 oz a day. Now we try for 800 cc's a day. As long as I get 600 in her, I feel okay. :) Happy Mother's Day!!

I know how scared you were of both the fundo and the g-tube. It'll be second nature to you in no time. I know it seems gross and weird and icky right now. It will get better. I'm glad you had a good appointment! I know what you mean about "ack'ing" over the number of sticks for an IV. On Friday, Emily was poked 7 times before I made them stop and say no more. It's so sad for these little ones. I hope you have had a chance to look around the website I emailed you. It's a REALLY good place. :) What you were told was right .. most times a g-tube without a fundo will lead to even more reflux. It's just not a good idea usually. I hope you will come to a decision you are comfortable with. Hang in there, you're doing great! :)

Hello,

This is my very first visit to Amber's page but wanted to let you know that I will be checking daily now to see how she is doing. This must be difficult for you, I can only imagine. My daughter Caitlin was diagnosed with autism and epilepsy and underwent extensive genetic testing last year, for everything including Rhetts. The thought was scary for me. You must be very special people since God never gives us more than we can handle! That much I do believe. Amber truly is an inspiration of courage and faith that we should all aspire to. God Bless all of you, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Love,

Hello,

Thanks for signing Sarina's Guestbook.

It is so hard to see our children have to deal with all the medical stuff. I was also so upset last year when we finally gave in and ordered the special need stroller. I was also so upset to see how much it looked like a wheelchair, but i am over that now. She needs it and it sure does help.

Hope the cough gets better soon.

Hello Amber! You have a pretty neat site here. I like the pictures of you at school. You make some pretty neat projects. I like to do arts and crafts too. I have a 7 year old girl and a 4 year old boy that like to get all messy making things. That's a lot of fun isn't it?

I hope that your sleep study goes well on the 21st. I'll be thinking of you. Have a fun weekend!

This is my granddaughter and she is very special. I have learned a lot from her. Her eyes talk to me all the time and I love her expressions. Her family is very loving and her sisters and brother help out alot. Of course, grandma helps alot too (that's me).
