Carl was Diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, an agressive high risk cancer, on August 18th 2002
Carl died November 26th 2004. His Birthday was December 28th 1999 he would have just turned 10

Over the course of Carl's illness, he received many blood transfusions both red cells and platelets. There were periods where Carl was recovering from chemotherapy, his blood counts would be low, and he needed a boost to help him recover befor the next round of chemo could begin. We knew the importance of each blood donation, as each transfusion helped give us hope to carry on towards a cure, each transfusion gave us more time with Carl. There were urgent times, when the hospital, and the red cross scrambled to deliver desperately needed blood products to Carl when he had to get them "Now"! We will forever be grateful and appreciate the many gifts Carl received from generous donors in his most time of need.

If anyone, blood type A positive, donated locally between August 2002 and November 2004, you may have given one of the many blood transfusions Carl received, that helped him feel better, and keep going. We don't always think about where a unit of blood goes once it is donated at a blood drive. What we know, as a family of a frequent blood recipient, is that every transfusion is so greatly appreciated, and never taken for granted. One thing to know for sure, is that each blood product donated, is desperately needed by someone, whether it be for an accident victim, a surgery patient, or a cancer fighter. We hope that our story will move many folks to get out and help this great cause, in memory of Carl, or another special loved one. This time of year, around the winter holidays, is the greatest time of need for blood donations.

Your donation could save a life, or give a child the precious gift of one more day

We are excited to be sponsoring this first Carl Robinson Memorial Blood Drive January 14th!!!

Our hope is that we blow our goal right out of the water!!!

The Redwood Gazette, Fairfax Standard, and the Renville County Registar will all be doing stories on Carls Blood Drive this coming week!!

Hope you are all staying warm and enjoying the final moments of your Holiday vacations!!!

With Love & Peace
Kelly

Merry Christmas to all!!!!

We are in the middle of a heavy snow strom, expecting to get up to 21 inches of snow before it is done on Saturday. Today was the start of it, but they say the worst is on the way. We are supposed to spend the day with my folks at their apartment in Redwood. We hope we will be able to get there. We are staying home tonight for the first time in 14 years since I have been in the Robinson family. We usually gather with the Robinson's at Janet & Marks for Christmas Eve. It is turning in to a very different Holiday. The kids just opened their presents that were under the tree, and we are waiting for a tator tot hotdish to heat in the oven (somebody forgot to turn the oven on) We are planning on having a quite evening of hanging out together, and watching a couple movies!!! Our favorite Christmas movie is playing as a marathon tonight too "A Christmas Story" :')

We have not made it to the cemetery yet to light Carl's memorial candle, so Sam and I are about to bundle up and ride snowmobile over there to light his candle!! We put up a battery operated deer, and a wreath with solar candles a couple of weeks ago, so his little spot over there is quite festive!! We also put out some spike solar lights that go around his stone. Hopefully it doesn't look too much like a circus over there, but we do enjoy decorating, and really like having light shining at night!!

We hope you all have a very special and Blessed Christmas with your families!!!

With Love and Peace

Dear Carl,

You came into this world with a purpose, and touched so
many lives in your short stay here on earth. We were blessed
to keep you for nearly five years, in which you taught us so
many lessons. We watched you struggle and fight, and never
give up, until the day Our Lord came to bring you home.
We remember Thanksgiving Day, the day before you left us
for heaven, you continued to fight so bravely. You wanted to
make us happy and show us you still wanted to have fun and
make us laugh, as you knew how to do so well! We will forever
hold and cherish those memories in our hearts! We can
still see you slapping Uncle Chuck on the leg, as he was trying
to sleep off his turkey dinner, he woke up startled, to see
you standing there with that silly grin! And playing Twister
with RahRah, we would have never guessed it would be your
last day together with all of us. If we had only known, we
would have hugged and loved you even more. We will always
remember your laugh and smile! We will never forget
all of your pranks and funny things you used to say!
We will remember your big hugs and your sweet kisses!
You left your mark on this world, as you taught us how to
live and how to Love! You painted our world bright orange,
as your legacy will live on forever! We Love you Car-Car and
miss you so much! Watch over us precious Angel
until we meet again!

Love, Mom & Dad, Bryan, Sydney, Sam, Cara Joy
Grandma & Grandpa,
Aunties, Uncles, Cousins & So Many Friends!

Dearest family and friends, Thank You to all for everything you have done for Carl throughout his short journey here on earth. Our deepest Appreciation to everyone for all of your love, support and Prayer over the past 5 years since Carl went home to be with our Lord.

It is so difficult to comprehend the reality of 5 years, what does it mean? I struggle daily with this time thing? It feels like yesterday, but somehow 5 years have managed to slip by, and sometimes I even question if all of this even happened? The calculation of time elapsed, which we struggle to grasp is ~

5 years (How is this possible?)
60 months (Doesn't sound too bad? a common auto loan term)
260 weeks (Wow, this seems too many)
1826 days (We Hugged and kissed Carl, just this many days ago)
43,824 hours (too many to imagine)
2,629,440 minutes (seems like forever)
157,766,400 seconds (as each ticks off the time, we so miss our little guy

We remember Carl as we Celebrate his life each and every day, and especially this Thanksgiving Holiday weekend. We have Peace and Hope and know that one day we will see our little guy again, in that wonderful paradise that Carl already knows so well!! He is Happy, and has Dear family and friends there with him aready!!! They are at the very best ever Thanksgiving table, together with Jesus!!!

Love & Peace

Cara Joy & Carl from Heaven

Happy Thanksgiving To All

Justin's caringbridge site link is listed below. Please keep him and his family in your Prayers this week. Justin will be having the second part of his surgery tomorrow Wednesday Oct 21st.

Hello Dear friends and Prayer warriors!!!!

A Prayer request goes out to all of you for our Dear friend Justin Erdmann. Justin is inpatient waiting for a phase II surgery to his brain to bring relief of seizures that he has been dealing with. We visited Justin last night!! He looked very good for enduring the amount of pain that he has been this week. We Love Justin and his family so much and consider them a part of our family!! Cara has developed a special relationship with "Her Justin" over the past couple of years!!! it is so precious to see how she seemed to take over where Carl left off with Justin, as they were very good buddies too!!! We always laughed at how they called each other "Baldy" back in the day when they both were bald as que balls!!!

To visit Justin's page ~

Justin's caringbridge page

Here is some pics from last night!!!

Here is another little montage of pics from this summer when we got together with Justin, Shelly & Kasie

You can sure tell how much Cara Loves her Justin!!!!

Thank you for checking in with us, and be sure to visit again soon for more updates!!!

many of our friends have found us on Facebook!! We do check in there, add bits of info, and post pics & videos of the kids from time to time!! You can find us too, listed as ~

I will be keeping Carl's site updated too, as long as there is interest. It is hard to imagine letting go of it, even though I think the traffic has slowed down here, it has just been such a part of our lives for so long. It is a connection to Carl. God Bless

Here is the "First Day Of School" pics!!! The little slideshow is of Cara on her first day of pre-school

And here is Sam on his first day of 6th grade!!!!!!

Ask and you shall receive :')

Today I opened up an email from a Dear friend Deb Spradling, Andrews Mom!! She mentioned that this was the first time I have not added "First day of school" pics.

Well, I am on it right now!!! :') I have some pics of Cara, since this year she begins Pre-School!!! What a big girl, Carl must be so proud of his little sister :') I also captured Sam at the end of the driveway, by the mailbox as I try to do each first day of school. I did not capture Sydney however, as she would not let me. There were tears that morning, mostly tears of missing the way things used to be and feeling sad that my kids are growing up and don't appreaciate my perspective as a mom. I do believe there will come a day when they too will know what it means to be a parent sending their children off to school. And maybe they will look back and remember those days of their own, and realize how much their Mom loved them.

So I am working on getting those pics ready to add, but for now I wanted to share once again, my favorite slideshow done a couple of years ago, with memories of Carl, called "Friends"

Be sure to check back!!!

Love to everyone
Kelly

Hello to All!!!

I thought I would get a sooner update, but as the summer goes, it has been so eventful!!! It seems our summer moves from one function/event to the next, with little time to catch our breath!! :') It has been a good summer, but oh how it has gone by sooo fast. I have a lot of catching up to do, and it will take a couple updates I'm sure!! I will start with a little montage I put together from a couple of weeks ago. We left Sam in Brainerd Mn for a week at the Doug Woog Hockey Camp!! When we came back to pick him up, we spent the weekend at Jill & Rick's cabin near Garrison!! It was so much fun, we made lots of Great memories that weekend!!! Sam brought his friend/cousin Beau with and the two boys enjoyed swimming, fishing, getting out on the pontoon with Uncle Rick and a silly trip to Paul Bunyan Land, which is what this video is all about!! Here it goes ~

I really need to update with Relay For Life pics that are way over-due, and others from the past months. Right now Sydney and Sam are hauling supplies to the Renville County Fair, to get ready for our County Fair!!! The animals will go next tomorrow!!! They have been working hard getting their beef animals ready to look their best for show!!! The beef show will be Wedesday Aug 19th at 3:00pm

Tomorrow is August 18th, a painful anniversary, and a powerful reminder of the day our lives would change forever. 7 years ago this was the day Carl was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. We will never forget this day as it is etched in our minds deeper than any other day ever has, or will be. It has been 7 years, but feels like yesterday.

Thank you to everyone who still takes the time to log on and stop by Carl's page to check in with us. You have come along with us for many years, and we greatly appreciate your Love and kindness and faithful support that you have shown over these years. Carl brought us some amazing friends that we never would have known had we never have been given this journey we have traveled. Thank You for the Blessing you have been in our lives.

Enjoy your last few weeks and days of this speedy summer.

Love & Prayers
Kelly

Our campsite is decorated with a Birthday theme, including a 7 ft inflatable Birthday Cake!! We have posters with pictures of many Birthday Parties enjoyed over the years!!

Carl always Loved to celebrate anyones Birthday, and this meant candles, turning the lights out, and singing the Birthday song followed by counting the years away!!!

Opening Ceremonies will include a Dove & Balloon Release as we Remember our Loved ones who we are missing so much!!

Be sure to check back for many photos later!!!!

If anyone is visiting Carl's site because you have found one of our Balloons from the Balloon Release, Please sign the Guest Book and tell us who you are and where you found your Balloon!!! Also share with us who the Balloon is in memory of (attached note)

Last year a Balloon was found near Green Bay Wisconsin!!! The person googled Redwood County Relay For Life and found their way to one of the teams website (The Grizzlys) and signed their guestbook!!! Very Neat!!!

Thank You everyone for continuing to check in on Carl's Website!!! It is so Awesome to still keep this going. Of course the updates are not or ever will be the same without frequent posts of Carl news. However our lives continue to reflect on Carl as we try to keep his name and memory alive!!

It seems to get more challenging as time goes on. Understandably as the years pass, so does the "freshness of loss" fade to others in our lives, but to us it is a day to day experience that we live, eat and breathe...It will never fade or be dismissed to us. I must remind myself often to be forgiving, as others, unless they have personally felt the loss of their child, just couldn't possibly know.

It brings me Joy to be able to share about Carl, to see his name written anywhere, and most of all to hear others "remember" and talk about him.

We will soon be doing our 5th Realy For Life event since Carl died. It will be our 7th as "Carl's Commandos" As the years pass, Carl's Cause is still just as important to our family as it always had been. When we hear of all the newly diagnosed children entering in to this war, we are ever reminded of the Reason to Fight!!!

We have set up a page on the Redwood Relay For Life Website for our team!! Both Tom and I are team members this year!! I will post a link here for all of our supporters to access and to donate if you are so inclined!!!

Carl's Commandos ~ Tom and Kelly

I will post more information as the Event gets closer (Friday July 17th)

Thanks Again for remembering Carl and for Always caring!!!

Love & Peace

Hello Dear Family and Friends!!!!

Wishes to you all for a very Happy Fathers Day!!!

Especially remembering all Fathers who are missing their child, who is looking down from Heaven!!! Fathers are often forgotten, as so much attention is focused on the Mother. Fathers are expected to hold everyone and everything together, and to not show their feelings, because they are supposed to be the strong one. The truth is just the opposite, they hurt, grieve deeply, and feel the loss of their child just as desperately as a Mother. And it is ok to express those feelings, and to even cry, as you remember and celebrate the child who will always love you as their Father.

God Bless all Fathers, Grandfathers, Godfathers, Uncles, Cousins, and any special men of a fatherly role in the lives of children everywhere!!!

Love & Peace

Today was her dance recital!! Here is a little video of her performance, what a Hoot!!!!

Happy May Day Everyone!!!!!

Here's a little video from a couple evenings ago ~

Sam invents a new ride for Cara ~

Sam and Cara have been finding lots of fun things to do together outside these days!! They Love to be outside now that the weather is warming up, and Cara Adores spending time with Sam!!! He is pretty patient with her, and tolerates her well. She can get on his nerves, and will come in the house crying, that is usually an indication that Sam has had enough!! ;')

Tonight we were Blessed to receive a very special Hello from Carl!!! It may have even been a "Happy May Day"

Cara and I were over at the cemetery fixing up around Carl's memorial stone. We planted an orange rose bush behind his stone. Cara was making trips to the car to carry back some of our gardening tools. On hands and knees on the ground, I was placing some mulch around the little bush, and here came Cara running back to me, holding an "ORANGE" crayon in her hand. She showed it to me, "look Mom" I could hardly believe the moment! I don't recall seeing an organge crayon in my car before? I have no idea where it came from, and Carl was never in this car before? I asked her where she found it, and she pointed to the trunk where she was tossing in our things. Wow, if that isn't a sign from Carl, I don't know what is? He found a perfect way to make Mom's Day Happy!!!!!

We kind of have an Orange Crayon thing going on around our house. I have found so many, in just about any place in the house. I couldn't believe there were so many loose, single orange crayons popping up from time to time. I started to put them up on Carl's shelf, just to see if this continued, thinking I could have been finding the same crayon over and over? It turns out there are multiple orange crayon's showing up, as I have started a collection and currently have three saved in a speical spot!!! Orange markers are another story!!

Tom finally has started farming, and is keeping pretty busy between the rainy days. This spring Tom and his brother Denny, and Sisters Jean, Janet, and Joy made the trip to Arkansas to visit our Niece Nancy (Ken's daughter) and her husband Billy. Nancy has been battling ALS "lou Gehrig's Disease" her disease is progressing fairly rapidly, and is currently in an advanced stage. It was a good trip for them, they really enjoyed the time they were able to spend togther. It was so difficult saying their goodbyes. About a month later, Nieces Jenny & Jessie and I, also made the trip to Arkansas to spend some time with Nancy and Billy. We had such a nice visit too, and also experienced a most difficult goodbye. It is so hard saying goodbye, when you know that you may never see that person again. How can you hug long enough?, or say what is on your heart?...You just can't, you are always left with a feeling of, that just isn't enough.

Please keep Nancy and Billy in your Prayers. We Love them very much, they are in our thoughts, prayers and hearts Always. May God watch over them and Bless them at this so difficult time.

My little Cara came in the house with her first Mommy Flower (Dandelion) of the season!!! With the help of Sam :') How perfect, especially on May Day!! I am looking forward to many, many more!!!!

Cara today with her first Mommy Flower!!

My Dear friend Ellen Hanson, from MA sent me this pic of her darling little Heather!!!
I LOVE THIS PHOTO!!!

Have a Wonderful weekend everyone, God Bless you all

Hello to everyone and HAPPY SPRING!!!!

It has been awhile since I've updated, It's amazing how the weeks fly by. Before we know it, Easter will be upon us once again. I will get back here soon for an update, but I wanted to add a little montage I put together of pics from this past weekend!! We headed to the Mall of America to spend the day just having fun!!! Auntie Joy met us there, and hung out with us for the afternoon!!! Cara is still frightened of dressed up charictures, so she kept her distance from Blue, The Back Yardigans, and Sponge Bob & Patrick. She also refused to sit on the Easter Bunny's lap for a photo that day :-( I sure hope she gets over this soon, she doesn't know what she is missing out on!!!

Here it is, Enjoy!!!!

The top photo is of Carl and Sam at the MOA park when it was called Camp Snoopy. I believe this was Carl's last time there. It sure brought back memories as we watched the kids in the same places, and on some of the same rides. It was also bitter-sweet watching Cara standing in the same spot as the boys did that day. She is almost as tall as Carl was then. :.)

Have a Great week everyone!!! Check back soon for more of an update!!!

Love & Peace

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!!!

Cara wishes everyone a very nice day!!!

Hello to everyone!!!! :')

It is finally February, but does not feel like it so far. The weather guys say it is supposed to warm up by the end of the week!!!

A couple weeks ago the country heard, and read, about the Amazing story "Miracle in Manhattan" Where an airplane made an emergency landing in the Hudson River. The headlines and pictures led to a rush of our (New York memories), and photos of our own, where Carl and Tom took a little trip out on the river on one of these wonderful fire boats. This boat was likely one of many boats, that was used to rescue the passengers that eventful day!!

We were certainly Blessed to have had the opportunity to experience all of the Awesome things that we did during our trips to NYC!!! Carl loved all of the sightseeing and excursions we were able to bring him on!! I have many, many photos that have never been posted, that I hope to locate, scan, and share :') Many from the early days of diagnosis, and treatment in Rochester too.

Carl gave us many memories to hold on to, and so much love that we will treasure forever!!! His smile and laugh are a part of our best memories!!! He knew how to make the most of every day, he loved life and lived his to the fullest!!!

"Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything that is beautiful; for beauty is God's handwriting-a wayside sacrament. Welcome it in every fair face, in every fair sky, in every fair flower, and thank God for it as a cup of Blessing." Ralph Waldo Emerson

Wishes to you all for a Happy Valentines Day!!!

Love & Peace

Hello Dear Friends and Family!!!!

We are finally thawing out from the last couple of frozen weeks here in Minnesota. To those Friends in Florida, Texas, and anwhere else over 30 degrees...We are Jealous!! A few days ago, the temps in MN (the entire state) were below Zero!! We are feeling the warmth creeping back with a temp of 30 (above zero) today!!! It is amazing how wonderful this can feel, and how we truly appreciate such small Blessings!!! We are all counting down the days of winter... Buurrr :')

Our Holidays were very nice, they came so quickly, and were over even quicker. We are so Thankful for the distraction of Cara with all of her excitement, and wonder!!! We remember what it is like to smile and feel that magic once again, as we watch her joy bursting from within!! We still feel that familiar pain of "missing" Carl. We are grateful for the signs he sends us, giving us a warmth, knowing he is present!! This year on Carl's Birthday (December 28th) we went over to the cemetery and released 9 Orange balloons. To imagine that Carl would now be 9 years old :.) I try to picture what he would look like now and how big he would be? Whenever I see a little guy about the size I picture him to be, and then hear 9, I just wonder, and smile, with tears inside.

We enjoyed our New Years get away with the Erdmans, and Stacy & Kevin!!! The kids had a blast, and Cara keeps talking about Justin and going to the Hotel again to see him!!! It is always fun to get together with old friends to catch up on events, and share familiar memories!! We are already looking forward to our next get together, just hoping it will be sometime soon!!! I am sure it will be if Cara has her way!!! The very next weekend we got together with Laurie & Terry Ourada, Linda & Joel Harmoning and kids and John and Char Frank for our annual Holiday get-to-gether!!! We really enjoy being around this wonderful group, it always feels so good to be with them all!!! This year Laurie invited the families from the Cottonwood Bus Crash. We were humbled to meet two of the families and their beautiful children. They too felt very comfortable to share with and be in company with. Soon it will be the one year anniversary of that horrific day that claimed the lives of four of their children. Please remember these families and all those affected by the bus crash as the date 2-19-09 approaches. May God Bless them and comfort them as they remember their children and celebrate their lives!!

Thank you all for checking in with us as you continue to do!!! Thank You for your faithful friendships, we are so Blessed to have your loving support!!!

Remembering all children who are now in Jesus' loving care

Bible Verses About Jesus Blessed The Children

And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them.
(Mark 10:13-16 ESV)

Now they were bringing even infants to him that he might touch them. And when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them. But Jesus called them to him, saying, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”
(Luke 18:15-17 ESV)

With Love and Peace

P.S. Be sure to check back for new Pics!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR to Everyone!!!!!!!!!

Christmas Eve 3:00pm

Just wanted to add to my update from last night!! As I was finishing up adding my journal, and then changing the Home page photo (Carl and Sam with their Shrek ears) I heard a distant voice..."Mom"! Now I would have nearly missed this and possibly blown it off as just (hearing things) but little Cara sitting in the recliner watching tv behind me spoke up and asked..."Who Said Mom?" I then turned to look at her, as I realized that what she heard, I also heard too!! Yes I thought, I did hear a call "MOM!" Too!!! I got up and asked Sydney up the stairs if she had just called out Mom for me? She hadn't. We three girls were the only ones home at the time. I then looked at Cara, and told her "I heard that too!" "I think it was Carl" She smiled and knodded her head. What a gift from Carl, he wanted us to know that he was here, and he wanted me to know that it was him, and he knew that I was thinking of him and pondering over his picture :') I can only imagine how Pleased he was that he got through to us at this special time!!! I also think that things have been kind of stressful lately, he must have known that I really needed that.

MERRY CHRISTMAS Carl!!!!! We Love you and Miss you so much!!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!! To Everyone!!!!

Wishes to all for a Blessed Christmas Holiday!! We are a little behind this year, still finishing up the final touches ;-) But looking so forward to spending time with all our family over the next couple of days. The kids are excited to get out on the snowmobile too, since we have a nice blanket of snow covering our world right now!! I helped Linda (Cara's daycare Mom) do a slideshow/montage of many of the pictures she has captured over the past year. All of the kids are so adorable, she sure has the cutest bunch of pumpkins at her pumpkin patch daycare!! If you have time to watch, it is really cute, it takes about 15 minutes or so. Grab a cup of coffee, sit down and enjoy!!!

We are planning on Joining the Erdmanns and Stacy's family for another wonderful New Years Bash!!!!!!!!! We hope you have a Safe and Happy New Year too!!!!

God Bless Us
Every One

Hello to everyone!!!!!

Boy does time fly, two more weeks and Thanksgiving will be upon us. Thank you for continuing to check in with our family!! And a Special THANK YOU for your caring notes in Carl's guestbook!! We still check often, and delight to find warm thoughts from you, and from folks that find Carl's site by chance. You are the reason why we keep this up and running, we are so touched that you still keep Carl in your hearts, and always remember.

So much has happened since my last journal, I am not even sure where to start?? Maybe I will start by sharing our little Cara Joy in her "Princess Fiona" Halloween costume :-)

She dressed up for a little Halloween Party at Linda's Pumpkin Patch Daycare :-) She didn't actually wear her Fiona out Trick or Treating, she wore a little orange Halloween shirt, and black pants. We didn't make the rounds through Morton like we usually have, but went up to Redwood Falls to visit my parents. My Mom is back again at Wood Dale Nursing home, after a fall and a bad case of Pneumonia, which kept her in the Mankato Hospital for 10 days. We almost lost her at one point, she recieved the blessing of the Anointing of the sick by a priest in the hospital that day. She recovered (Praise the Lord for hearing our Prayers) and is now gaining her strength back, and anxious to move back home to be with Dad again!!!

We also received the news that our Niece Nancy, from Arkansas is battling the disease ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease)
She is having a very difficult time with the devistating symtoms of progression. Nancy, Billy & Ricky all have our Prayers at this time, we Pray for Nancy to have some ease of symptoms, and relief of pain that she has been dealing with. May God Bless you all and keep you in his tender care.

This is a difficult time of year for our family, but also a time to remember, reflect, and Praise the Lord for all of our Many gifts we have been Blessed with! We are especially Thankful for our family, and friends that remain faithful, and true, throughout the years. We are planning a Wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday this year, at our Niece Jenny's(Denny's daughter)new Home!!! We are excited to see her darling new place, and looking forward to gathering together again with family, as it sure seems like a long time since we have all been together.

We did enjoy our recent girls get together in Sycamore Ill, celebrating Robyn & Kevin's little baby Rayna!!! Here is a couple pics of our weekend!!

The sisters, and the Sister-In-Law's

All the girls, with baby Rayna, baby Cameron, & Kody, Cara & Kaylee too!!

Janet with Mellisa & baby Cameron, and Jean with Robyn & baby Rayna. Notice the three orbs in this picture? We think Grandma, Grandpa & Carl were there too!!

After the girls weekend event, came a weekend of showing cows!!

The kids entered the Minnesota Beef Expo again this year and showed a couple of their new animals!!! Here is Sydney after placing Champion of her group of this age class.

Sam wanted to have a picture with his heifer too :-)

So a very full and busy Fall it has been. We are kind of hoping that the colder weather and end of fall field work, will keep us inside, and give us some much needed, quiet family time together!!!

November 26th will be here again soon, marking 4 years....since we have seen, and held, and loved up Carl. Our hearts still ache for the loss of his physical presence, but we know he is still with us here in spirit. We feel him around us, and still find signs to reassure us that he is near. Cara talks about seeing him from time to time, and I have noticed how she seems to be our little conduit. A song that reminds us of Carl can be playing, and she will mention his name. One day on our way to daycare, Cara asked me to turn the light off in the car? I first thought she was talking about the dome light which was off, but she clearly persisted about a light that was "on" inside the car. She then began talking about Carl. Sometimes (for some reason, happening mostly in the car?) She will out of the blue say "Car Car" which always blows us away, because we don't refer to Carl as Car Car when talking about him. It's as though it just comes spilling out of her mouth, out of no where? We just look at each other with wonder, and smile ;-) There are many, many more happenings that we feel so Blessed to be receiving, and we Pray that they always contine!!!

This Thanksgiving I have a few Prayer Requests that I would like to ask of you all ~

For My Mom, as she continues to recover from her illness and works towards moving back home.

For Nancy, as she is struggling with the effects of ALS.

For all the children battling cancer or other illness, and for their families that are fighting so hard for them to find the right treatments.

May God Bless you all this Thanksgiving Season

Love & Peace

Good Evening to everyone!!!

Wow can't believe it is October already!! Thought I would post a slideshow I put together last Fall of many precious Carl memories!!!

Thank you for checking in, and keeping up with our family as you continue to do!!! Time has sure been passing on schedule, as the calendar months fly off, and blow away in the wind, right before our eyes. It is hard to imagine that Carl has been gone for nearly 4 years. These 4 years often seem a blur, as I try to recall what has all taken place in our lives. I know there has been much, maybe that is why time seems to fly.

The kids are growing up on schedule as well. I only hope we remember to take enough time to capture the special little moments in our minds, as time truly is fleeting. Just as you realize where your at, you wonder how did I get here? My parents just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary September 13th. Oh my, all those years and memories, so hard to believe how time marches on. Congratulations to Dad and Mom for a milestone in life that they have been Blessed to reach!!!!!

The school year is off to a running start!!! This week is Spirit week, so the kids are having fun dressing up and taking part in the festivities!!! Sam is dressing up as a green alien tomorrow!!! What a Hoot!!! Speaking of dressing up, our little Cara Joy has become quite a little Shrek fan :-) She loves Shrek nearly as much as Carl did!! I enjoy when she wants to watch Shrek, it brings back a comfort I remember, as I watched it so many times with Carl during his treatments, and at home. It feels quite natural hearing those famous lines and familiar music in the background, while I am working around the house or making supper ;-) I think we are going to find her a princess Fiona costume for Halloween!!!

Bryan is doing Great, he was here a couple weeks ago as he celebrated his 21st Birthday!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY B!!!! We took him out for a couple of cocktails, it was a blast!! Bryan continues to attend the St Paul College and everything is going very well!!! Bryan and I talk on the phone every day, and spend alot of time talking when we are together!! We are all still working through the grief process, each in their own way. The memories of Carl are as stong as ever, we never tire of bringing up funny little diddies that he said or did. I am especially Grateful that Sam's memory has not faded either!! He talks of times and treasures that must be so dear to his heart. At school band sign up last week (will be doing percussion/drums), Sam chose an Orange music stand!! The kids think of Carl daily, and somehow a part of him comes out in our lives every day!!!

Last night Cara and I were up at Woodale Nursing home visiting my folks for a little while. They have been there for almost a month, as Dad had some trouble with his left knee, and needed some therapy and a little rest, but the two of them are planning on returning to their apartment tomorrow!! It was something else watching her run around and visit with the nurses, and pop in other patients rooms, and ask for ice cream, and act like she owned the place!! It was like watching Carl all over again!!! So unbelievable, like deja vu ;-)

Next weekend all the girls, the Aunties, and the nieces, will be traveling to Ill to visit Auntie Jean & Robyn!!! We also are so excited to meet Robyn & Kevin's new little addition Rayna!!! We are looking forward to a fun girls get together, it has been a long time since we have done anything like this!!! Also Matt & Mandi have a new little addition!!! Baby Tyler John born September 17th!!! He is so Adorable, he looks like a little Robinson Boy!!! :-) I have lots of pics to take and share!!!

We hope you are all enjoying Beautiful sunny Fall weather, and holding on to these last few days and weeks while we can!!! The way the weeks are zipping by, it won't be long and the shovels will be out! YUCK, I don't want to go there yet.

Love and Peace

Back to school Prayer ~

Dear Gracious Heavenly Father, Once again we send our children out into the world. We know it's a place that won't love them like we do and won't always encourage them to love you. But Lord, greater are you in them than what they will face in the world. We ask you to place a hedge around their physical bodies and give them safety and strength. Guard their hearts from doubt, fear and emotional attacks of the enemy. Give them wisdom and minds that always seek you in what they are being told and let them learn to compare the information they receive with your word. Give them victories that they can praise you for. Give them failures that will teach them to be humble but not break their spirits. Give them friends who love you that they can learn to serve you along side of. Give them teachers who follow you. Bless the buildings they will sit in and the people they will be with.
Father, if there is any person, adult or child, out there who might intend harm toward these precious kids; stop that plan now in the name of Jesus Christ. Put a barrier in front of that intent of destruction before it can materialize. Expose those individuals that they might be helped and saved from themselves.
Finally my Savior, I ask that you would lay a cloak of peace and joy around our children. And do a good work in us as parents that we might become worthy of this great gift you've placed in our hands.
Thank you God; for kindergartners and high school'ers and college students who will love you with their whole hearts and live lives to your glory.
In Jesus name.

It is that time once again, when we will send our children off, to a new school year. It is a bitter-sweet time, full of excitement, and sadness. New school supplies, new clothes, new shoes, new hopes and dreams. Remembering times of hope held tight, anticipating that first day of school, remembering a child who's only "want" was to go to school. Never witnessing that first bus ride, missing the excited return of a child one happy afternoon. A pain of sorrow returns, as do reminders of what didn't, what could never be. Always wondering...how would it have been?? It would be Carl's time for 3rd grade this year..We can only imagine...

Somehow, I believe Carl has been going to the school of Heaven!!!! And, he is wiser than we could ever fathom. He has grown in knowledge, spiritual wisdom, and he is Happier than he has ever been!!!! It sure sounds so wonderful, and I believe this with all of my heart, but if we could only stop the pain of missing him so much. I guess that will never stop, as long as we are separated. I pray that all parents take the time to realize the gifts they have been given, and to Thank the Lord for the Blessings they have as they send those precious children off to school for the first time, or again for another year! My prayer continues, for children alike, to be Thankful for the opportunities of education, that they have been given. God Bless all children as they head off to school this new school year, and to all the teachers, we entrust our young people with!!! God Bless You All

Please continue to keep Anna O'Connor in your Prayers, and all other children battling cancer or other illness.

Update Sunday August 3rd 2008

Hello to all our Dear family and friends!!! Just a quick note for now, will update more later!! Please check out the above video of Anna O'Connor as she spoke at the Super Jake Golf Tournament recently!! Anna is currently battling Neuroblastoma progression, and will be at CHOP this week for MIBG treatment. Please keep Anna in your Strong, Powerful Prayers as she has a rough couple of weeks coming up to get through this treament, and just not knowing what the near future holds with the next trial to follow. To visit Anna's site and offer your support, you may visit ~

ANNA'S SITE

Lets join together to send thousands of Prayers up to the Lord for Anna!!!

It has been a bitter sweet couple of days. Sydney and Sam are at Camp Jornada for the week!!! It is so Wonderful that it worked out for them to be able to go to camp this year, I know they will be having the time of their lives there with all of our friends!!! We got there yesterday, and spent the night. We enjoyed seeing the Erdmanns and Megan and many other friends that we have not seen for awhile!!! The memories of the year that Bryan went to camp come spilling out, as I remember, Carl and I bringing him there, and then picking him up again. Carl's memories constantly surround us, but that is a good thing as it keeps him so alive in our hearts and we can feel him with us!! Sydney texted me a little while after I left the kids to head back home. She said "I miss you already Mom, there is a little boy here that is bald, he reminds me of Carl, I wanted to start crying" I know how she feels, and I am kind of glad I left before seeing any little bald heads myself. I think this will be a great week for the kids, and I am actually looking forward to when Sydney is able to be a counselor herself and help other children that come to camp!! It was fun to see our friends while we were there, and it was so heartwarming to watch Cara as she captured the hearts of many that remember Carl. There were many comments of how much she resembles her brother! I believe that must have been in the plan from Above, as the Big Guy let Carl hand pick her ;-) She also shares his personality, and has a way to bring on smiles and laughter wherever she goes, which also keeps Carl's Spirit alive! Friday we will go back to pick up our campers, and we can't wait to hear all about their wonderful journey this week!!!

We did not make the ride "The Cruise" last weekend, for the Ronald McDonald House, as our bike broke down during the KMS memorial ride on Saturday that we rode in. We were lucky to have a crew following up the pack that stopped and loaded the bike on a trailer and gave us a ride back to Frankin!!! We enjoyed the day, and hope that we can do this again next year, and actually finish, and also make it to the Rochester Cruise!!! We missed seeing alot of folks that day, but we heard that the ride was a huge success and broke last years record by thousands of dollars!!!!! Very Cool!!!

Will update again soon, Thanks everyone for checking in, and for helping us in Prayer for Anna and for all of our freinds battling cancer.

Love & Peace

Saturday July 19th

Carl's Commandos Still Relay For Carl!!!!!

The 2008 Redwood County Relay For Life was an Amazing success!!! Carl's Commandos sold walking tacos, and organized our 1st sale of balloons, to release at opening ceremonies as a Memorial, beginning with a Dove Release!!! I will try to add more pics soon, My camera was giving me some trouble, (I think it was the photographer, actually :-) ) so I didn't capture all of the footage that I thought I did :-( It was truely Beautiful, and very emotional. We hope to do this again next year at Relay, and we believe the whole process will go smoother, as folks will know what we are doing, and want to participate in such a moving service!!! To those who purchased balloons, we encouraged them to attach a little tag to specify who they were releasing the balloon in Memory of. We also had a little line ~
"If you find this balloon, go to (www.caringbridge.org/mn/carcar) to let us know" So it will be fun to see if any balloons are found, and where, and who logs on to Carl's site to tell us!!! Thanks to everyone for any part you did to make our Memorial Service a Wonderful 1st time!!!!

Cancer can never take away our memories, or our Love that we hold in our hearts forever!!!!!

Just a little FYI~ Those of you doing Relay For Life events across the country this summer, may direct your donations to (Neuroblastoma Research) This is done by asking your donors to write in the memo section of their check ~ "Restricted to Neuroblastoma Research" This is another way to assure more desperately needed funds, are being directed to a deserving childhood cancer cause!!!

Tuesday July 1st

WOW it is a Hot summer day!!! We hope you are all enjoyong your summer!!! Can't believe it is already July. A couple weeks ago Sam and Uncle Chuck put together a Derby Car for the 2nd Annual Morton Derby Car Races!!! Here's some footage from that fun event!!!!

Have a Great week everyone, and a Wonderful 4th of July Holiday weekend!!!!

Thursday June 19th

A couple weeks ago, we made a trip to the cities, then Duluth for Nephews Nick & Jordan's Highschool graduation. We then spent a few days on vacation along the North Shore!!! I just finished putting together a little montage of some of our Duluth, North Shore footage. We took a excursion boat out in the Duluth Harbor which went out on to Lake Superior a little. That was very interesting and educational!! Then we drove up north to Split Rock Light House, which Cara called "A Castle". Enjoy!!!

Happy Fathers Day to all Dads, Grandpa's, Uncles, Cousins, and any other male father figure, that are Blessed to have a child in their lives!!!

We have had a perfectly Beautiful day here at home!!! We have still not had a whole lot of nice weather, it has either been rainy, windy, cold, or a combination of all three. When it is a nice day, we enjoy it, and Love every minute of it!!! We have certainly learned an appreciation for God's gifts of nature and beauty!!!

With the delay of spring weather, and few days suitable for Hay, the baling has just begun, and Fathers Day was no exception. Tom and Uncle John and Kate have been busy cutting and baling most of today. Sam and Cara spent a couple hours playing in a little wading pool we picked up at Walmart yesterday! I did some mowing around the farm, and enjoyed watching them sitting in the pool together, running in and out, and making trips in and out of the house with buckets of warm water to add to their cold pool. It warmed my heart to watch them together, Cara running right behind Sam, just the way I remember Carl doing, as they too would be doing just the same things!!!
They used an empty large tote, to put inside the pool, and added warm water to create a "Hot Tub" :-) I sure miss the days and hours those two boys would play together, always laughing as they came up with cleaver ideas and carried out most of them with great enjoyment!!! Sam still likes to be a kid, and I treasure these moments as long as they will last!! Cara Loves to have Sam play with her, but she also can hold her own and entertain herself very well!! She is so busy, and has an agenda of her own. She carries her bag full of baby stuff, and strolls her baby around like a little mommy. I can't imagine how lonely it would be without her presence in our lives.

Sydney has been in Texas this week with her Dad and Karen and Pracilla!! It sounds like she has been living it up spending lots of time lounging in the pool at their new house!! She will be coming home tomorrow, to get ready for a FFA event coming up on Tuesday that she is very excited about!!! With summer soon on our doorstep, it will not be long and the kids will be back at the county fair showing animals again. They will need to start working with them daily to wash and lead them. They will be bring more animals this year too, since Renville county will be having an open class show, so they will show in 4H and the open class too!!

Sydney and Sam are planning on going to Camp Jornada this summer too!! They are very excited, and happy that it will work out, since the dates have been moved up a week, not to conflict with the county fair. Stewartville has had a lot of rain and flooding, so we hope everyone down there is ok, and there is not too much damage from the heavy storms. We will be praying that the weather settles down for our SE neighbors and friends, and that they get a much needed break from all of this rain!!!

Last Sunday we spent the afternoon at the Mall of America helping the Minnesota Families put on an Alex's Lemonade Stand!!! It was great to see all of you there again, we Loved helping out and being with you that day!!! Sydney said that doing this makes her feel closer to Carl :-) And I have to say the same, it strengthens our bonds with our fellow cancer families, as we all are in this for the same reason, and we all "Get It"!! The picture way at the top is of myself (far left) then Bryan, next Erik Ludwinski a wonderful young man we finally got to meet from Park Rapids MN!!! Erik is an amazing guy, Please keep him in your Prayers, as he has had a couple of NB relapses over the last few years, and continues to fight!!! Then Molly Hollway, a NB survivor, and then Sydney!!! We also were Blessed to see Daniel Hammer and his Daddy Vic!! We continue to Pray for all the NB warriers, and of course all of the Angels that are now in Heaven. God Bless them all and we Pray that one day a cure will be discovered, to wipe out NB forever!!!

God Bless you all, and may you have a Wonderful week!!!

Love & Peace
Kelly

Thursday June 5th, 2008

Just two hours ago, this story aired in Philadelphia. Alex Scott, now has a Pediatric Day Center, she inspired, at CHOP!!!!

CBS 3 News Story

Watching this news clip brought floods of tears, what a beautiful place for children to spend time during treatments. Carl's last hospitalization, and treament attempt was in Philadelphia at CHOP. He enjoyed the attention he received there, and was so proud to share with everyone, that his picture is in Alex's book, as he was one of her friends that had a Lemonade Stand!!!

In an April udate from Jay Scott, here are some of the Grants Alex's Lemonade Stand will be funding!!!!

Alex 's Lemonade just finished the 2008 grant selection process. We are thrilled to tell you that it was a great year for neuroblastoma research project grant submissions. Below is a list of the neuroblastoma specific projects, I thought you all might find interesting. Thanks for all of you on the N-Blast have done to help make these grants possible.

This is so Amazing!!!!!

Also I want to share another exciting news story, featuring Carl's Beautiful, sweet friend Anna O'Connor

ANNA O'CONNOR AT CHOP

Generous research dollars are helping!!!

This time of year brings back floods of emotions, as the memories always return of this final season of Carl's life. He was so terribly sick, and unable to be at our families "Alex's Lemonade Stand" at the Metrodome during the Twins game in 2004. He did however, help to sell lemonade from a little stand the nurses at St Mary's helped him get set up. I believe he raised $20.00 himself that day!!!

Carl will forever keep our hearts wanting to help this so desperately needed, and underfunded cause, Pediatric Cancer Research. This weekend is "Alex's Lemonade Stand Days" Our Minnesota families, the Hollways & Hammers and others that have joined us over the years, will be hosting our Minnesota Chapter "Alex's Lemonade Stand" on Sunday June 8th at the Mall Of America. The kids and I will be joining in to help sell lots of Lemonade!!! If anyone is in the area, and would like to stop by to help our cause, we would love to see you!!!! Also donations can be made at any time by visiting ~

ALEX'S LEMONADE

Thanks everyone for checking in, and for all your continued Love for Carl and our family!!!

God Bless

Kelly

Here is a montage of pics from the Beautiful Memorial Balloon Release!!! Oh my...every time I watch this I get choked up, just like the real thing!! Thanks to Linda Harmoning for lending me her camera card to use, as I can't take credit for all of the Great photos captured!
Enjoy :0)

This past weekend we enjoyed a Wonderful Captain Dan Fun Days experience!!! Here is a little montage I put together of some of the Memorial Celebration, including the Dove Release!!! There are many more pictures, which I hope to compile in a second slideshow, with some of the Balloon Release at the end of the program. Check back soon for more pics of the event!!!

A Beautiful weekend was had by all!!! The weather was just perfect, we were certainly Blessed!!! The kids and I were only able to attend the Sunday festivities, but as always, it was the highlight of the weekend, with much emotion and tears. Tears help to cleanse the soul, and heal our hearts. Many in attendance were there to Honor and remember a loved one missed so desperately. All were touched, and moved by the feeling of unity, as we experienced the love spilling out of our hearts, that will never die. Love lives on, and will always remain!!

Thank you for visiting Carl's site, and for keeping your Prayers lifting us all up high!!!

God Bless you this Memorial Day Weekend, and know that our thoughts and Prayers are with all of you as we remember...

Love & Peace

A cute pic after supper tonight 5-12-04

Why Not to serve Spaghetthi :0)

Happy Mothers Day to all Mom's, Grandmother's,God Mother's, Auntie's, Cousin's, All Friends & Family everywhere, who have been Blessed to have had their lives touched by a child!!!!

I have been especially Blessed as a Mother of five children, giving all Honor and Glory to GOD for these gifts he has given, and entrusted me with, to teach and love.

Our Angel Carl is with us and finding many ways to send us his Love from Heaven. I have felt his presence more and more lately, and know without a doubt in my mind that he is near, and never very far away. Cara is talking more than ever, and out of the blue, she tells me "I see Carl" or "Carl is here" sometimes she will seem to be looking at something, in a very deep way, then she mentions Carl, or waves, or says "Hi Carl"! When she mentions him, I then will ask her questions, such as "Is Carl here"? or "Can you see Carl here"? to which she smiles and says "Yep" I sometimes ask her if he is smiling at her, and to that she always says "Yep" too :0) She sometimes will see Pika (Carl's little dog) with him too! One day she told me "Lola can see Carl" Lola is our new dog. Just tonight, as I was laminating some Dove Release Verse keepsake cards for next weekends Captain Dan Day's Dove release, she was following me around and while we were out in the mud room she looked up on top of the counter, and said "There's a Monkey"! I said "Where"? and she pointed to the top of the counter. I asked her if Carl was there too, and she said "Yep". Ok this really took me by surprise, because Monkeys have a certain meaning for Sydney and myself...Both of us has had several dreams about Carl with monkeys :0) We have to believe that he is carring out his love for animals in Heaven, and is enjoying them, and probably helps to take care of them up there!!! Well shortly after Cara mentioned the Monkey, I asked her again about it, and she replied "It's gone" as she looked back to where it was. This is so unbelievable, but I do believe it, I just know she is his little messenger!!!

On Wednesday I was outside doing my dove chores after work. Cara was outside with me making the rounds with feed and water. We left the bird building, and started heading up the hill to the house. Cara was walking behind me, poking along. I stopped in my tracks when I heard her say "Carl's There"! She was pointing to an old huge tree stump that is in the path we were walking. Now I was not thinking of Carl at the time, nor did I mention him to bring this out. I turned and said "Where is Carl"? She pointed on top of the tree stump, and began feeling on top of it. Then she leaned in and proceeded to give him a kiss...All on her own, I never suggested this to her. This brought tears to my eyes, as did the second gift Carl sent to me this day (My first sighting of a group of three dandelions, in front of my parents garage) :0)

I hope and Pray that Cara always keeps, and never outgrows her precious gift of seeing Carl. I do tell Cara all about Carl, and share funny stories that we will never forget! I tell her about his favorite things, and talk about him as if he is really there with us (as I know he is) I picture him listening, and smiling, and probably laughing, as he too remembers the silly times he shared with Sam, and all of us!! She is now able to fit into, and wear some of his things, (a little jacket that we found still hanging in the closet) She also wears his "Bird Cap Boots" quite often when she goes outside, since it has been very wet and muddy all spring around here!! She even calls them "Carl's boots" We are Sooo Blessed that we have her as this little outlet, to keep Carl alive in our hearts and minds, and to realize that he really is with us...Love never dies, and will always keep us connected!

It is finally warming up here in Minnesota, but just a week or two ago, we had SNOW!!! Just an inch or so, but enough to make us want to puke!!! Enough of this stuff, we truly need warmth and sunshine now!!!

Congratulations to Robyn & Kevin with the birth of their new little baby girl Rayna Nichole, who is now three weeks old!!! We are anxiously awaiting two more babies in the Robinson family!! Melissa and Justin are expecting a little boy any day, we are hoping he makes his appearance on Cara's Birthday May 15th!!! Then Mandi and Matt are expecting a baby boy in September!!! Kody & Kaylee will be big brother and sister soon!!!

Next weekend is "Captain Dan Days" in Lucan Mn!!! Be sure to check the link above for information and a schedule for the weekends sports and events!!! Carl's Angle Wings will be providing a dove release once again, and a 500 balloon release will take place on Sunday afternoon. Speaking of Carl's Doves, it seems that there are a couple of white pigeons that have taken up housekeeping at our church, Sacred Heart in Franklin. We spotted them up in the bell tower one Sunday, and that day in church, I happened to glace out one of the stained glass windows... the shadow of one of the doves passed by, as it was circling around.
Linda, Cara's daycare Mom mentioned to me this morning, that a white Dove was sitting outside on the street in front of her house. She said that it appeared there, just a few minutes before I pulled up to drop Cara off. That little Carl is keeping us thinking, and smiling :0) We will be bringing a couple pairs to the Ramsey Zoo next week!! The zoo will be having a baby animal day on the 15th!!!

God Bless you all this Mothers Day Weekend!!! Enjoy your children and families!!! Remember to say "I Love You"

Love & Peace
Kelly

Hello to all our Dear family and friends!!!

We are doing good, just still trying to stay warm while keeping our sights set for warmer sunny weather!!! The weather reporters keep telling us these below average temperatures will not last much longer!!!! Well I can speak for most all Minnesotan's "BRING IT ON!!!!!"

Here is a little montage I put together of some of Sam's Hockey Season!!! He finished up last week as a Red Mite, and has now started to practice with the Squirts, getting ready for next season one leavel up!!!

Here's our "Sambonie"!!!

Sydney will be starting JO Volleyball this coming week, as well as fast pitch softball!! It will be a busy spring for the next couple of months!!

Cara is keeping us running, as she has started a new wave of getting into everything possible around the house!!! She has also started to take and hide things, as well as hiding herself and then giggling when we discover where she is!! She certainly makes life interesting, but at the same time, we could not imagine life without her in it :-)
She continues to have a bit of a cough, and congestion. We went back to the clinic Friday, and so she is now on an antibiotic for 10 days to hopefully clear her up!

Bryan is keeping busy with school, and doing fun things when he can. He recently got a power wheelchair, to make things easier at school and when out in public!! Did I ever share the story of Bryan at Walmart on one of those power scooters?? :-) Hopefully his driving skills have improved since then!!! LOL! Bryan is also waiting to get a new tatoo that he is having designed!! It is of an Orange rose, Angel wings, a banner, with words "Always Watch Over Me" He has been wanting to do this for a very long time, in memory of Carl.

We will be having Easter dinner here on the farm, for all of the family that can make it!! We are hoping for nice weather, and a beautiful day!! This is such a special time of the year, filled with precious memories of many happy Easters filled with smiling faces, and excitement from all the little kids!!! It is such a bright, fresh season, full of new life and new beginnings!! It will be fun to see Cara hunt for easter eggs!!!

Wishes to you all for a great week!!!

Happy Friday to everyone!!!!!

It is sunny here, and starting to warm up after a very freezing week. We are all getting anxious for spring, it seems like this winter will never end!!

We have kept Cara home from daycare this whole week while she has been getting well. She is doing much better!! Still caughing some, but no fevers!! She continues to have a bit of diarrea. We did get the diastat refilled (valume suppository syringe) to have on hand in case of any more febrile seizures. Linda at daycare also keeps a box on hand to be prepared as well. We hope she will be done having them, but the doctors say that typically a child prone to febrile seizures can have 5 or 6 up until they are around 6 yrs old, then they out-grow them. And from past experience with Carl having these seizures, he had about 7 or so in his little life. But for Carl he had many fevers resulting from chemo treatments that normally children should never experience. Knowing that she is prone to them too, just puts on on allert whenever she starts getting sick, especially when a fever is involved. We also learned that her ear tubes are now out, so she may start to have ear infections again? Aside from all of this, she really has been a healthy little girl!! She is a hearty eater, her favorites are fruit, veggies and hotdish!! She is energetic, keeping herself busy with her dollies, and books!! Lola follows her around, especially if she has food in her hands, she just might drop a bit, or share a bite :-) Like her brothers, she loves to play in tents!! I helped her make a tent under a card table this morning, and she had a ball playing with Lola under there!!

Other farm news!!

Betty had her baby calf a few days ago!!! She had a healthy little heifer calf!!!

Here's a couple pics of our Red Poll cow with her little orphan holstein calf. that she adopted and is raising! They are doing great together!!

With spring on the way, comes the beginning of another season of breeding birds, babies hatching, and training homers!!! We added a few quality breeding pairs to our loft, that will bring down some genuine racing homer bloodlines!! The more we learn about this adventure, the more we realize that we are experiencing the same thing many folks go through with building thier teams. It can take a few years to get built up and grow with success. We have learned so much since we began in Jan 05, and we will continue learning, as there is so much more to learn! We keep our vision alive, as we remember the rewards received!!! It is all about touching the lives of others, as they too have experienced the loss of a dear loved one. It is about peace and hope, and beauty in the midst of pain and grief as one struggles to understand.

The Final Flight

Dry your eyes and look above
Soon you will see a pure white dove

I ask for a moment
Before setting him free
To hear these words and think of me.

As your precious days on this earth go by,
Don't be afraid to love
Don't be afraid to cry.
Even though I am gone from sight,
Remember,
It was only my body
That couldn't take flight.

We hope you are all staying healthy and keeping warm! May you have a Wonderful weekend everyone!!!

Happy Presidents Day To All!!!!!

It is a good day for a Postal Holiday ;-) A cold and windy day here in the North Country.

This weekend brought back another bought of fear, panic, and reality. The reality of how fragile, and precious life truly is. We can appreciate this, more than ever, since we know how quickly our lives can change and how we can loose what we have been given.

Sunday morning found us in the ER with little Cara, after she spiked a temp causing her second febrile seizure in less than a year. She has been sick this past week with a bad caugh, icky runny nose, and beginning Friday, the start of a steady fever. We actually had her in the clinic on both Thursday and Friday with our concerns, and as always, very worried that this very thing would happen if we didn't start to treat her soon. We had been keeping the Tylenol and Motrin flowing nearly around the clock, but her caughing, started causing her to vomit it back up nearly every time we tried a new dose. So she was not as protected as we would have liked.

Early Sunday morning, she woke up with 101 temp, and shaking with the chills. This is not a good sign, as we know a temp quickly rising, is sure to follow. We got her in the bath, trying to warm her up, and get some motrin in her at the same time. But in the process she puked it right back up, and was shaking even more. Both Tom and I were right there with her, working to draw up another dose to try to get down her. Within a few minutes, she jerked up, and I reached in the tub and grabbed her out, knowing that she must have been starting a seizure.

We quickly wrapped her in a towel, and Tom ran and got the medicine we were given from Mpls Childrens last May, when she had the long complicated seizure. This is a suppository syringe of valume, to stop the seizure. I gave this to her within seconds, and to our PRAISES she quit the seizure within about a minute. This one lasted from start to finish only about two minutes.

While this was all going on, we screamed for Sydney and Sam to get up and we quickly threw together what we needed to bring to the hospital. Cara came out of the seisure caughing, her eyes opened, and she spoke a couple words. She then fell asleep, and rested all the way in to the hosp. breathing well. At the hosp. She was checked out, and given a tylenol suppository as her temp was still 102. The nurse got an IV in (the first time!) and she was given some fluids to replenish her as she was really starting to get dehydrated (her puking was also accompanied by diareaha). We also gave her a nebulizer treatment to help her breathing.

Cara rested, and got her fluids. She also got a dose of Roseffin (two shots, one in each leg) as her ears were looking like an infection. We brought her back home with more suppository tylenol, and have been watching her close like a hawk, and doing the nebs every few hours too. Most of yesterday she kept the steady temp of about 101, and finally last night when we went to bed it broke! She slept well, and is much better this morning!! Her temp is still normal, but she continues to have diareaha. We are trying to push fluids, and anything she will try to eat. She is just not sure what she wants, so she has been quite clingy and a little whiney. I am so thankful to be off today with her, it is a good day to stay inside and cuddle!!!

We are in the process of getting a new sub trained for me in the Post Office, so that I can take a day off when needed, and poor Tom doesn't have to be Mr Mom all of the time. Of course he doesn't mind a bit, there is nothing more rewarding than caring for these precious babies when they need us!!! Of course it is even better when the two of us can be here together with her (like today) I can't imagine handling this scarry sitiuation (yesterday) by myself, although I know how adrenaline kicks in and you can do things you never dreamed you could!

Cara is a very good little patient. I was thinking about this yesterday, how she seems to naturally have the ability to cope and comply with medical procedures, despite a little natural hesitation. I also think all that we experienced with Carl, has undoubtedly made us stronger, and more confident parents, in dealing with these things too. A normal parent would probably refuse to choose a shot for their child out of pitty, but in our case knowing what needs to be done for the best, we are prepared to be agressive, and we know how kids are resilient, and can endure, what they need to. She also must have Carl's strength inside her soul, as God, and he knew what to specially design her with!!!

Today we will spend time getting her feeling better, and enjoying all the lovin shes giving back :-) Thanks for stopping by, and for all your Prayers Always!!!

Isaiah 41:10
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Happy Super Bowl Sunday!!!!!

GO NEW YORK!!!!! We are cheering for NY, knowing our Dear NY cousins will be too!!! We are getting ready here for a family Super Bowl Party!!! Sam had Hockey practice for a couple of hours, and is on his way home, while the girls, Sydney, Cara and I are getting snacks ready for the game. I actually mostly just watch/enjoy the commercials ;>)

Please continue to keep the Leiser family in your Prayers as they adjust to the unthinkable task of living without their precious child Isaac. It was heartbreaking to read the final journals and then to read that this little guy became an Angel as so many NB fighters have. The pictures of little Isaac at the wake were so difficult too, as you can well imagine. And I know those that were here with us for Carl's would agree that he surly reminded us of our Angel Carl. We too have pictures of Carl in the casket. What I remember the most, is how he did look like a perfect Angel, so sweet and so perfect. The sun was shining in the church window through the stained glass that evening, to softly shine a beautiful cast of warm sunlight across Carl's little head. He looked so breathtaking, I will never forget that. For a short time, the sun was in the perfect position, according to where he was laying, shining down on him like a beam from Heaven above. His casket was open all the way across, I didn't want half of it closed to hide the lower half of him, that didn't seem natural to me. He was covered with a beautiful tied fleece blanket, that was a gift from the Frank family. He held a little wooden rosary in his hands that we had used when we prayed the rosary together. He was also surrounded by many other gifts from friends and family, and a few drawings and handmade cards from other little ones, including Sam who drew a picture of Carl with Angel wings. He had a a couple of his favorite toys including a special Harley motorcycle that Uncle Chuck gave him, and a little orange motorcycle that Cousin Jenny had given him just a couple days before he died. He kept this little model in his hand almost non-stop, the last couple of days. As wierd as it sounds, I almost wish we could go back to this time, for then, it would have only been a few days since I had held and kissed our precious son, not earths reality time...38 months.

What keeps me going is the steady signs that Carl is still here with us!!! Yesterday he came through loud and clear with a sign that I can't deny. I was at work getting ready to load up my car with mail. My hands have become dry and chapped and cracked like crazy. I was standing at my case putting on about 12 bandaids to cover some of the cracks that I keep bumping and making worse. Bandaids always remind me of Carl, and I can remember putting them on him 1000's of times after his GCSF shots, or to cover his other sticks and pokes. As I was applying my pile of bandaids, thinking of Carl, I could not believe the song that came on the radio. It was "Hands" by Jewel. This song is one of the songs that is on our DVD that was compiled by Uncle Clair, and Jenny & Jessie of many pictures of Carl, and the dove release at the cemetery for his funeral. I can say that I may have heard this song, maybe once, played on the radio?? I used to discount these things as "coinsidences" in the past, but not anymore!!!

Down in the barn, one of Carl's favorite places....

I have a heartwarming farm story to share with you and I will try to add some pics soon!!! On February 1st, one of the cows aborted her calf early? Something could have been wrong with the pregnancy or the calf? Tom and John went out, and found a young holstein calf to purchase (an orphan bottle baby, from a farm that raises numerous bull calves) They put the Momma cow in the barn and got her set up with the little calf, to hopefully have her accept this replacement, and take care of it. This can be successful, but can also fail if the Momma rejects the calf. This morning, we are happy to have witnessed the Cow mothering and protecting the baby, as they have indeed bonded!! The little calf is drinking from Mom and they look very Happy!!! They just look a little funny, cause she is a Red poll breed, and the calf is a little holstein. :-)

Last night I received a phone call from our Dear friend Deb, Andrew's Mom!!! It was so wonderful to hear her voice and talk to her again!!! After we talked, I got back to a little project I had started but didn't get finished!! So here is the Montage from our New Years Eve reunion in Rochester!!! You have probably noticed that Cara Joy has stolen our camera time, most of the time :-) Actually she has become the "Belle of the Ball" around here!!! It is not hard to do, it just seems so natural to me to be snapping shots, and filming her. To see her in action, is to nearly see Carl again...through her. Those of you that knew Carl at the Donald House will see what I mean!!! Here it is Enjoy!!!!

Have a Great Day everyone!!!! Thank you for coming back to Carl's site as you do, it keeps me journaling ;-)

Saturday January 19th,

URGENT PRAYERS are needed for a precious little boy Isaac. We saw his story today in the "MN FARM GUIDE" publication, and then visited his caringbridge site. His parents have been arranging and getting ready to take him to vermont for a phase II trial, but sadly little Isaac has become very sick. Please keep him and his family in your loving Prayers at this so difficult time.

ISAAC'S PAGE

We are having a chilly weekend here in MN. We are keeping warm inside, and thinking warm thoughts and looking forward to temperatures above zero!!! This pic above is a favorite, and always brings a smile to our faces. It sure helps to think of sunny warm skies, and a bright yellow yard covered with a blanket of dandelions :0)

Other than freezing, we are doing very well here!!! Sam is busy with Hockey, and will be getting ready for his first home tournament next weekend!!! Sydney will soon be starting her JO Volleyball season. Bryan just started a new semister at St Paul College. Cara is busy learning her colors, and keeping us all entertained :0) She continues to amaze us with proof that Carl is truly around us. This morning Sydney was waking up from napping in Cara's room. She opened her eyes, and watched Cara without her knowing it. Sydney said she was standing up in the corner of her crib, smiling and leaned over the rail, giving a kiss. She was also giggling and reaching out as if she were trying to touch/slap her playmate (Carl)?? Then she noticed Sydney watching her, and she began to jabber telling her something? She jabbered a few lines, saying something about "baby" and laughing. Cara often refers to Carl as baby, and other children too, some that are even older than her :0) As her vocabulary is developing, she has been saying Carl sometimes. I am sure he is very pleased and so proud of her!!!

Wishing you all a wonderfully warm (If you live in Minn too) weekend!!! Thank you for checking in, and for thinking of us, and for keeping Carl in your hearts!!!!

Love & Peace

Happy New Year!!!!!!!!

Here is a little montage I put together of Cara's daycare friends at Christmas time!!! They all have so much fun together, and I truly think Linda has the cutest kids in her daycare!!! Here is "Merry Christmas & Happy New Year from the Pumpkin Patch Daycare" Enjoy!!!

We hope your New Year is starting off Great!!! We enjoyed last weekend with our Friends from Rochester once again!!! It was a Great time as always!!! Thanks to Stace and Kevin for Everything!!!! We were Happy to be able to host a Lunch at the Ronald McDonald House before heading back home. We even served Carl's favorite food "McDonalds"!!! Chicken Nuggets, Cheese burgers, and Hamburgers!!! We have never seen so many Happy Meals together in one place before :-)

And not to my surprise, Cara Joy made herself at home there, and did some running around just like she belonged too!!! She sooooo reminded me of Carl, to see her running in the halls :0) She found her way into the computer room, and sat herself down at the little childrens computer in the corner. I was trying to gather her up, as we were getting ready to pack up and head home, but she could care less and sat right there and didn't budge even after I walked away saying "Bye" She called my bluff, and when I came back a few minutes later to grab her, she had already left the computer room and was back up in the lobby, peeking in the office talking to Helen. You can only imagine how this warmed my heart and brought back precious memories!!!!! And how it makes me wonder, if Carl was right there too, leading her by the hand?? :0)

Have a Great Weekend everyone!!! Check back soon for more updates, and lots more photos!!!!

Love & Peace
Kelly
