Journal

Sunday, April 19, 2009 10:20 AM CDT

Hello! I hope this journal entry finds you well.

I recently had my quarterly checkup and while all my blood counts are great, my "m-spike" which is my cancer marker, ticked up from a trace to .3 which is not a cause for any treatment action, but we will need to keep an eye on it. It's not unusual for this marker to bounce around at this low range. I am confident it will remain around this level for a long time.

Lynnette's Uncle John is still fighting a strong battle with his cancer. They had set up hospice for him back in January but he has defied the experts and continues to fight. Please say a prayer for John!

Lynnette's brother in law continues his recovery from the surgery to remove a non-cancerous tumor from his brain. He lost much of his hearing in one ear and is still having troubles with his balance but all in all he is doing great.
Please pray for Dean's continued strong recovery.

Please say a prayer for a friend of mine - Helen Berg. Helen is one of the leaders of my Multiple Myeloma Support Group at Methodist Hospital. She is a 12 year survivor of Multiple Myeloma and recently her Myeloma markers ticked up enough for her to start a treatment plan. She also found out that she has a cancerous spot on her lung and liver so she is now battling that as well. (Helen has a CaringBridge site)

Please pray for a long time friend of mine, Nancy Mesenbourg. Nancy is battling cancer as well (see her CaringBridge site) and is kicking its butt, which is no surprise if you know Nancy. Please say a prayer for her as she continues kick butt on the beast.

Finally, please say a prayer for a wonderful women and her family as she battles another round of breast cancer. Nancy Scislowski (see her CaringBridge link below). Recently Nancy found a new caner in her breast that also spread to a few of her lymph nodes. The good news is that it's not her old breast cancer coming back. So Nancy is battling this cancer with her usual strength and determination and will beat this new challenge.

That's all I have for now. My next appointment is in early July, so I should have another update by then, if not sooner. Have a wonderful spring and be thankful for each and every day you have on this earth to spend with your family and friends. Each day is a true blessing!!

Brad
