It was great meeting you this morning, Brad. I hope our paths cross again as we are out on the speaker's trail during this fund raising season. What a beautiful family you have - truly lots of wonderful blessings in your life. I will continue checking to see how you are doing. Thanks for what you are doing to make people aware of cancer - your talk was fabulous.

Just spoke with my daughter, Julie, and she sounds better. Next round of chemo will be in 1 week so hopefully her platelets and white count will be at acceptable levels. We are waiting for her next PET scan to see what is happening with the tumor in her lung, on her adrenal gland and the lymph node in her groin. Don't know if that will be soon or after her next round of chemo. I figured it out and she has been on some type of chemo, radiation, clinical trial, etc. for 6 months of the 10 months since her diagnosis of lung cancer. Guess we just keep praying and trusting that the doctors will find the right combination that will work.

Have a great day.

Did you used to work the front desk of Sherburne Hall at St Cloud State Universtiy in the fall of 1987-1989? Or somewhere in that time frame? If not, you sure remind me of someone who did. I am so glad to hear that you are doing so much better than when I first visited your site.

Brad

I am so sorry...so so sorry to hear about your relative Michelle. My heart just aches for her and her family. My heart aches for her two children...her two very young children. I will pray for her and pray for a miracle. It just does not make any sense..this cancer thing. Too many young people are being affected these days and it does make you angry. hopefully, someday we will understand God's higher purpose for all of this suffering.
Congrats again on the man of the year nomination. Let me know if there is anything down here in Illinois I can do for you! Best of luck to you...I could not think of a better person for the job.
Take care of yourself and your family! Hug them often! It is the best medicine in the world!

Hi Brad and Lynette: So glad to hear your great news. I just had a feeling that all our prayers were going to be answered and you would have good news on your test results. But, never fear, we will continue to keep praying. Next time your Mom comes to New Prague, I am going to give her a prayer tablet that our bible study group is selling. It can be hung on your refrigerator and lists all the people we are praying for. A nice reminder every time you look in the refrigerator to say a little prayer of thanksgiving for God's blessings in our lives and a reminder to pray for the less fortunate. You have been on the top of my list all year. Continue to enjoy life with the kids and Lynette. None of us know what tomorrow will bring, so enjoy today. Tony is doing well also. He will have another CT scan the end of September. But his headaches are gone, so we assume so is the blood buildup on the brain. You take care. Tony and Carolyn

Wow - one year and what a year it has been. I'll bet in some respects it seems like the longest year of your life, and then again sometimes it must have seemed like it flew. You and other people in our lives are great reminders that life is short and we need to appreciate and celebrate each day we've been given. I don't think a day has gone by that I haven't heard Jon's laughter and thanked God for the gift of him in our lives. I'm sure you and Lynette feel the same way. May you continue to have great news and great healing! Take care, Love Laura

Brad,

Congratulations on passing your 1 year anniversary of your transplant! I can still remember you stopping by Connor's room for a visit right afterwords, and that is when we first were able to smell the cream-corn scent of bone- marrow transplants. We will be contacting you soon to get together to celebrate. We are praying that your results will all be good on September 2nd!

Hi Brad - glad to hear the good news keeps coming. I have a prayer pad on my frig and I will add your friends to the list. It's so sad to hear the number of people dealing with cancer but they are fortunate to have people like you in their lives who are not only a good inspiration to beat the cancer, but also a good example of faith and appreciation. We will keep praying for all of you. We all can use the prayers of others. Hope to see you soon! Laura

Hey Brad! I figured that since I rarely get to see you or chat w/you via phone, because of both of our busy busy schedules, that I'd write you here. You & Lynnette need to make sure you call me when you need help w/the kids or just need a break. Never worry about adding more kids to my house. They entertain each other! I know, Lynnette called me to see if I could take Morgan when you went to the Twins game but it didn't work out. Poor Morgan, she thinks she'll never get to sleep over our house. I promised her that she will so she & Katie can play Princess and dance around the living room. Maybe she can show Katie some dance moves. I'll call you FOR SURE this weekend and maybe Morgan can sleep over since it's a long weekend and I don't think we're going to the cabin for the whole weekend.

I hope your numbness has improved and I hope you can feel more awake in the evenings soon. I know you hate it when you're so tired. Hang in there. I have everything crossed (incl my eyes!) that your biopsy will go well. I'll call you this weekend.

Love ya BIL

Hi Brad: Sorry I haven't checked your website for a while. Even though you do not hear from us, you are constantly in our thoughts and prayers. Just keep hanging in there. Judging from your activities, you must be feeling so much better than you did a few months ago. I can imagine that you have good days and bad days, hopefully the good will far outnumber the bad.
This is a doctor and hospital week for us also. Tomorrow Coreen will have surgery on her nose. They will break her nose and than reset it. On Thursday, Tony will be admitted to Abbott Hospital for surgery on his head. He has fluid on the brain. They are going to go in and drain it. He has been having headaches for several months now and they feel this should solve the problem. So you can keep us in your prayers. You just keep improving and keep us posted. I will be anxious to hear the results of the bone marrow test. Good Luck with that. Keep up the good work. Carolyn and Tony

Hi Brad, glad to hear you are doing better. I'm sure any set backs can get real depressing, but you always seem to handle them so well, knowing that they are temporary. You've got a lot of good doctors and staff looking out for you and a lot of good people praying for you. Tomorrow is three years since Jon's surgery and every day I am thankful for God's help in getting us through that very tough time. I know He is with you helping you get stronger physically, mentally, and emotionally. Carolyn and I always pray for you at Bible Study. You continue to be in our thoughts, hearts, and prayers. Hello Brad,

I was reading Connor's journal, and came over to visit you from there. You are a mighty big kid, I just want you to know! :D And most of my Caring Bridge kids don't have kids! :D Just teasin' with you! You have a bee-uti-ful family! And Caring Bridge is not only for kids.. though if you are like me, you will ALWAYS be a kid!

I read back through your journal and felt the Lord leading me to come 'journey with you a while!' You see.. this weekend I lost a little friend that I have been journeying with .. just as you did last month. His name is Maxie: http://www.caringbridge.org/va/maxie/index.htm I figure we both could use another good journey-mate. You can never have too many good journey-mates, right. :")

Brother, I see that this month began with some disappointment in your check-up. I will begin praying with you, that the situation will stablize and you will remain well.
I'm glad to meet you Brad, though the circumstances of our meeting, are most dreadful.. our God can bring good from the midst of bad. Meeting up with a brother and friend in Christ, is a good thing. : )
Take care and have a good week! I'll be back to visit you often!
Warmly in Christ,
Lynn

It's refreshing to read about all the people who are supporting you, praying for you, and keeping you in their thoughts. There is still a lot of good in the world, even though more often than not we hear about the negative.

I can only imagine what a challenging journey this has been for you, but you have faced it with grace and strength. Your positive attitude is such an inspiration!

Brad,
I am sorry to hear that you did not get the results you were looking for from your most recent tests. You deserve a definitive bill of good health!! Hang tough! Your new treatment will clear the cancer cells out of your bone marrow. Let us know if there is anything that we can do for you. All of my family, as well as our network of friends will be praying for you! We will look forward to celebrating good news after your next appointment in 3 months! We are glad that you are feeling better.

Training for the MS150 will definitely get you in shape. Plan on celebrating the end of the event at our house in Woodbury with your family. I may even be joining you for the event. Three friends of ours have been stricken with MS, and a group of us are organizing a team for the event.
Stay strong! Stay positive! Let us know if we can help in any way!

Brad,

It was a pleasure for Jen & I to finally meet you yesterday at Connor's funeral. We have seen your comments on Connor's Web Page and the picture of you and Connor in the hospital for many months now. The images will remain in our hearts and minds forever.

A few thoughts we wanted to share with you. We wanted to let you know how special it was for Connor to know that he was not going through Radiation alone. How special it was that you were there for Connor on his surprise 6th Birthday party, finding out only a few hours before the event. How special it was that you kept in contact with Connor throughout his last days and how special it was to see you at Connor's funeral.

We certainly don't want to steal the thunder of appreciation the Stokes family has for you and your family and for all that you did and meant to Connor. We simply wanted you to know that it was a true pleasure to meet you. Our thoughts and prayers will continue for you and your beautiful family.

WOW! Great news for you. Congrats dude! I'm so happy for you and Lynette and the kids. Sounds like you are getting better each day, little by little, and that's a good thing. As for the cold thing, this year for some reason, my cold lasted almost two months. I had good days and bad days during those two months. Many others have said the same thing, it just lingers.

Glad you can go back to work from time to time. I think that is good for you. Can't tell you how happy I am for you. Hugs to you and now I'm going to write a few lines to your buddy, Connor.

Hi Brad,

We're neighbors of Connor Stokes and have heard so much about you and how wonderful it has been for Connor to have you as his "Radiation Buddy". He is a very special little man to a lot of people and, if he has chosen you as a friend, you must be special too.

His family is preparing for the possibility that he may be able to come home this week and we are all very excited about that! Lots of stuff to do in preparation as you know, but that builds up the anticipation more and more. Connor said he wants to ride home in a limosine - very subtle; ) But after all of that, he deserves it!

Thank you to you, your family and friends for the support, good wishes and prayers for our friends. Know that you are in our thoughts and prayers each day as well.

Take care and feel better soon. We're pulling for you.

I'm sure you are both taking it a day at a time to get through this, someday (hopefully soon) it will all be behind you and you will know that it was worth all your agony. God continue to bless you all.

Hi Brad,

It has been a long time since you and I met, when you were in Risk Management and I in Security at Norwest. Wayne (aka Downtown) has kept me updated on the challenges you face and I am struck by your courage and the support and caring from your family and friends. Well, I just wanted to let you know that you are in more thoughts and prayers as you go through this than you may know.

Hey Brad - I'm sorry to hear you are feeling so lousy, but a nurse friend told me that the chemo must be working well then, it's kinda like labor and delivery, no fun at the time, but the end result is well worth it. I am so impressed with the attitude you and Lynette have. God works in mysterious ways and I know He is working through and with you both. You are in our thoughts and prayers. May God continue to bless you and give you comfort and strenght. Love, Ron and Laura

Hi Brad. Lynette just told me about your website yesterday. Super idea! A couple quotes for you... "For the most part, fear is nothing but an illusion. When you share it with someone else, it tends to disappear" Marilyn Barrick "One never knows what each day is going to bring. The important thing is to be open and ready for it." Henry Moore

It sounds like these are some challenging days for you. Just take them one day at a time, you'll get through. I'm looking forward to seeing you soon. I'd love to see a picture of Connor. Hope he is doing well too. You two are very courageous.

Hang in there! Jeannina

Bradley, I'm glad to hear everything seems to be going well. I hope you are able to get out of the hospital today or tomorrow. Once you're at home do they expect you'll start to feel better, or will you still have the nausea, mouth sores etc...? I really think this page is a great idea, we definitely don't get to talk as much as I'd like and this way we can in a way talk and I can keep up to date how things are going for you. I am thinking about you alot these days. So you're bald now, Jon will be happy someone beat him to the punch! We've got some food we'd like to swing by over the long weekend, I'll give you a holler to see what time works best for you guys. Take care and hang in there!

I hope radiation isn't too bad to handle for you. Do they allow cold beer in there? I could sneak one in for ya!

Take care. I hope you're home and feeling less nauseous soon.

Good Afternoon, Brad:
I have just read the website. YOU ARE AN AMAZING MAN OF STRENGTH! Your will is so positive. Keep it that way.
Hang in there. Lynette keeps me posted when I see her at the salon.
I will keep you, your family and the medical team in my prayers daily. God can heal in ways we are totally unaware of whether it be physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually.
Take care. God Bless you and may HE wrap you in his arms so that you feel His love around you.

I am glad you have started this journal. This way, everyone keeps up to date and you have an outlet for your highs and lows, joys and frustrations. Thank you for all you and Lynette have done for Kelly and I and the kids these past two years. You both have gone above and beyond what anyone could expect while both of us were healing, and now it is our turn to give back just a part of what you gave us. You know we are here for you now and always. Stay strong and positive and you know I am just a phone call away if you ever need to vent or just need someone to talk to that has been to hell and back. (well sometimes it seems I never came back. LOL)

Hi Brad - I'm also glad to see that you're journaling your experience, because Barb is probably tired of me asking for the daily Brad update! I was reading through the guestbook, and I can't seem to get the visual of Wayne and Barb as the Adams Family out of my head!

I think of you constantly and how it could be any of us in your shoes. Your experience is a reminder for all of us to cherish everyday and make sure friends and family know they're loved and appreciated.

Hang in there and be strong - you're bigger than this thing.
