Chris,
Know that I think of Sarah, you and the girls often. Some of my favorite memories are the homeschool field trips we all took together. Making homemade bread always makes me think of you all and Sarah's grilled cheese. I feel blessed to have know your family and the gift of friendship with Sarah! Hope you all are well.

Chris, you amaze me with what a wonderful dad you are. Your girls are blessed to have a father like you. I haven't been on your website for awhile and wanted to check in. Its hard to believe its been 4 yrs since Sarah passed away. I miss talking to her at the Birth Care Network meetings and on the phone. Even when she was so sick, she would always call to check up on my son Matthew. He will start his 5 years in eternity too on April 22nd. I know that Sarah is watching out for you all and the girls. Take care of you too. I know how busy you must be with 3 girls to raise but allow "me" time too. I hope your diabetes gets under control good. Since Spencer's cord blood transplant for his diabetes (he was in a clinical trial) he went from 6-8 shots a day to only one. But now, we have to go up again and do carb counting and cover him with more insulin to give his pancreas a rest. His c-peptide tests are still showing he is making his own insulin. I finally got him to start letting me give him shots in his stomach. If you haven't yet tried that for yours, you may be surprised at how it does not hurt in your stomach. I finally took the time to take care of myself after a health scare, and have become a "health nut". I exercise every day and have lost 39 lbs, although I still have much more to lose. But learning to put God back in my life first and foremost and then learning that to take care of others I have to take care of myself too. You really have inspired me over the years when I read your journals. Take care and I love seeing the pics of how much the girls have grown. They are so tall!!

All,
"Grandpa Pal" is doing fine. I spoke with Mom & Dad last night and the prognosis is very good. There was no evidence that the cancer has spread to the lymph nodes but they are going to proceed with a low dose chemotherapy regime to be safe.

Hi Chris, how are you and the girls? We bought a cabin and I would love to have you guys down. It doesn't have heat right now, but if we get it we can get together in the winter. If we don't if will have to be in the spring. Either way it will be a good time.

I hope you guys are doing good.

Chris, I think of you and the girls often and wonder how you are. We have recently moved away from the area and out of the state. Spencer just went through a transplant using his cord blood to hopefully cure his juvenile diabetes he was diagnosed with back in December. I often think of what Sarah could be teaching Matthew in heaven. His third year anniversary will be Sunday, and it seems like the first year was hard but the third year will be harder. I keep your whole family in my prayers. God Bless! You are a great daddy to your precious girls, they are lucky to have a dad like you!

Chris,
I too miss hearing her voice so imagine my surprise last month when I called to talk to YOU and Sarah's voice came on the line with the voicemail. It felt like I was stepping back in time 4 years, without thinking I almost spoke to her when I left my message. Then it hit me. Know that I pray for you and the girls every day after praying my rosary.

Although I was not in a constant mode of corresponding with Sarah face to face, our relationship was primarily via email and instant messages sharing our hearts on family and life--that which I know is the core of who I am--and Sarah too. I found myself unable to sleep after waking a few weeks ago and I reread Sarah's journal. This is a difficult season indeed!

Sarah will always be such an important part of a very precious event in our family's life. Olivia's birth was such a blessing; Sarah's help was greatly appreciated. And when women talk of the birth of their children or a pending birth I am transported back--bittersweet.

Praises to the King of Kings, Lord of Lords.

Chris -- I notice the same thing when I am with the girls. Something in a laugh or an expression on a face or just the way they move or walk reminds me of Sarah! And they are all so delightfully unique in their personalities! But what always amazes me is how much they are are growing and maturing month-to-month. Thanks for all you do for them and the warm and loving home you provide them.

PS I hope that when I hug them, Sarah can feel what I feel. :-)

I have just "caught" up with your journal. Sorry to say, it had been awhile but I read through each and every one of your journals all the way back to August when I think I read it last. Chris, Sarah would be so proud of you and the girls, you are an amazing daddy and man. One thing that caught my eye, or I should say two things, was her speech she had written. I read this line and i felt Sarah was speaking to me,
**Worry and fear are the opposite of love. You need to
Love yourself more than you ever have.
Love yourself enough to stop worrying.
Love yourself enough
to give yourself the gift of peace. Also I learned that
Worrying does not empty tomorrow of its troubles....
It empties today of its strength.**

That statement about knocked me off my chair, how many times have I worried about so many different things, I have worried about finances, worried about living life as a grieving parent, worried about my health, and this and that, and she was so right, it zaps your strength. WOW!

Another thing that caught me and filled my eyes with tears was when you talked about signs you were given from Sarah. I also get them from Matthew, many times. We will find writings of his in notebooks, his song, I can only imagine, will just all of a sudden be on the radio as we head up to the cemetery. So many different things. I think its their way of showing us that they are still within our hearts, and they watch over us.

I hope Sarah is teaching Matthew many things in heaven, she had a wonderful way of "teaching" us all and I see that you also have that gift as you teach your daughters in daily life.
