It was so nice to drop by and see an update. I know how busy life can be. It's funny how we (me) get attched to visiting sites for years and years.

I pray that the testing for your little angel will go well, even when faced with a diagnosis of autism, the reality is that it is a broad spectrum disorder with many children living full and independant lives and yes early intervention can make such a difference.

Congratulations to all of you! Kate is beautiful, just like her older sisters. I have a 14 month old, 5 yr old and a 14 yr old stepdaughter. I know how crazy the house can be and can't imagine another baby right now. God bless you! You're last paragraph is exactly how I have been feeling lately. We're happy but exhausted all the same. I had several miscarriages before Hayley was born and it makes me so thankful for my little miracle. You were writing exactly how I have been feeling. Great update Ange, I LOVE LOVE LOVE that pic of you and Kate. That's the sweetest thing having a blondie and a brunette, lol, I have nieces just like that. I can imagine you must be completely exhausted, just keep telling yourself it gets easier (well you know what I mean, it changes, not necessarily easier, but at least there is more SLEEP involved eventually). I'm sure that it's a combo of things. Turning 5 is a milestone in any little ones life.(especially for the parent) I wish I had the right things to say to make it better but right now I'm not even that great for myself much less making you feel better. I discovered your site about 10 months before Jacob entered heaven, and I was always impressed with the way you cared for him and gave him so very much love.

Yay!! An update!! So glad things are going well. I was waiting for word on the sex of the baby.....congratulations on another girl! Do not feel bad for being a little disappointed....it is a normal feeling and doesn't mean you love your new girl any less! I remember when I was pregnant with my second child and wanted so much to give my husband a boy because I knew he wanted one....but, we had another girl and I felt kinda bad (knowing we weren't having anymore)....and he assured me that he was by no means disappointed and that he was more than happy with 2 healthy girls!!

And....all of your children are just gorgeous by the way!

I can't even tell how I found your site.....Jacob was still with you. I just remember thinking what a brave and wonderful mother you were to him and your daughter, you were and are dedicated to your children. My heart just broke when I read the journal of his passing, I felt for you. I was so happy for you and Scott when you got back together and married and the birth of your daughter. I hope your Easter was peaceful.. Ours was great. The Easter Bunny left a basket for all the kids and hid eggs in the yard,. Derek had fun going out in his snow boots to look for them. Well I just got back from Ottawa on a business trip and thought I would catch up on all of the posts that people have thoughtfully forwarded. Thank you so much for doing that Dawn...that was extremely touching to say the least. Taking the pictures as well was very special. Unfortunately Jacob's Angel day was extremely blustery down in our neck of the woods so we decided we would head up to Peterborough when the roads were not as slick. Thanks to everyone for posting...every memory is a special one and touches us all in different ways. Each photo Ange posted brings back a rush of memories. 3 years...how they fly by. It goes without saying that Jacob's memories are still as strong in my heart as the strength my beautiful wife shows on a daily basis. Thanks for signing once again...I know that is the third time I have said so, but you have no idea how much that means taking time out of your busy lives to tell Ange and Jacob how much their lives touched yours in special little ways...making us better people as we all know is the case. I was just speaking with a co-worker on the way back to Ottawa today about how I think it was just meant to be that I popped into Ange's life at the time I did. That I was able to spend quality time with Jacob and our other two kids were able to experience him on a first hand basis. I always especially notice when people say how powerful of a force Jacob has been in changing one's life for the better. I feel privledged, and awed as well when I met him, and with each and every moment I cherished with him will last a lifetime in my mind and even soul. Impact is too small a word to describe how Jacob touched my life. I have heard people say it must have been extremely difficult or a tough decision to subject myself or Kyle into a situation where I knew that my girlfriend's son had a terminal illness. Too be quite honest...I used to get angry when someone asked me that...but now...I just smile and shake my head no...explain to them who Jacob is and how extremly happy of a boy he was on this earth...and how he only knew love and caring and had the best mom on the face of this planet. I then give them the website address and they normally come back and say...I now know why there was not a decision to make at all...it was I who was the one to have God in my corner and giving Kyle and I the Honor to spend my time with Ange, Alyssa, Wayne and Sheila. Meeting so many special people along the way...I can't mention them all in fears of forgetting someone. But you all know who you are...if you are wondering is it me the answer is yes. Everyone I have met that know's Jacob through this site, tv, radio, or meeting him in person I see it in your eyes that he has touched your spirit as well. Thanks Jacob....I miss you terribly.... you always look after your mom, sisters and brother when I am not home. I look forward to the day we meet again...keep your little brother or sister safe up in heaven until you are ready to guide him down into our lives this August...we know they are in the best of hands. Thank you Dawn for doing that. It makes me feel good to know there is something there from me. I have 2 balloons all ready to go for the boys when I get them this afternoon. It is true about the sad songs. Ange knows about 'my Jacob song'. I couldn't make it for the funeral but at the exact time of the service Alabama's "Angels amoung Us" came on. This is a very special song to me because it was on alot when my Grandaddy died and then I didn't here much of that song until Jacob passed. When I have those really sad and reflective moments I hear that song. So, I know exactly where you'r coming from. I know it felt good going to see his place even in the snow. That was actually one of my favorite times when I came up there for Ange and Scott's wedding. That afternoon was the most peaceful time in that hectic week. Jacob gave Ange a little breather in a very busy, exciting time in their lives. Thanks again for everything you have done.

Hi Jacob,
It's your angel day and though I think of you very often, I have been especially thinking of you these past few days. Shannon wants us to share a memory, well my favourite memory is the same one I've spoken of before, we only met twice, but the first time we met, I got to touch your head, and it was summer and you were a bit sweaty and actually I love sweaty babies, lol, and you were just happy to have company I think, and your eyes did all the talking and your smile and my stroking your hair is what I remember best, I truly felt in the presence of an amazing life. And I was intimidated to be meeting your mom and Shannon and not sure what my place should be, but I just knew that I loved you and I thank your mom and you for letting me be a part of your life.
So today I went up to your place at Rosemount and there was A LOT of snow there and it's very cold and blowy out, and it seems like a very slow and long drive up the road towards your spot, but it is a good moment to have to reflect and of course, as always when I am thinking of you, an appropriate sad song comes on the radio and well then that makes me cry of course, but that is okay too.
So I took a little something to you from my family and from Carol too b/c I told her I would and I took pictures and talked to you a bit, and looking at your picture on your bear and saying and reading your name really helps Jacob.
I hope that your mom is not feeling too much sadness today and that your family knows that if not for you, they might have missed all of these blessings that are theirs now.

I really can't believe its almost been 3 years since Jacob has been with us. A lot of the memories still seem very fresh and real. I have just spent the last hour reading through some old journal entries. Some brought a lot of laughs and some brought a LOT of tears. But mostly it just felt good to remember those moments. Ange I am so glad that you started this website and captured all those 'moments' of Jacob. I know its a blessing for all us to be able to sit down and read them over and over again. To honour Jacob and the amazing job Ange and her family did, I thougth it would be nice if we wrote about our foundest memory of Jacob(and or Ange and family). Not all of us have had the honour of meeting him but we have had the blessing of reading these journal entries and have all felt that we knew him(Ange did a great job writing about him and the experience)

I think I will start with a memory that I think about a lot...
It was after Jacobs surgery and we had all been 'stuck' in the house for most of the winter. So the first beautiful spring day that arrived, we knew we had to take advantage of it. Ange always said she wanted Jacob to experience the most out of his short life, and didn't want him to live his life inside of a house. She always said its about the quality of life, not quantity.
Nana, Alyssa, Ange, and myself thought it would be a great idea to take a walk to the Mall with Jacob. At this point Jacob was still able to use the baby stroller. So we got all his machines ready, got the stroller ready and took everything outside ready to go on our journey. Once everything was loaded in the stroller(including Jacob) we noticed we couldnt' get the wheels to unlock. We tried and tried to get them to unlock but couldn't suceed. Well for all who know Ange, you know once she has an idea she will follow through lol. So we took Jacob out of the stroller and gave him to Nana. Ange then asked me to go upstairs and get some knives(Yes KNIVES lol) When I came back down I gave the knives to Ange who then started sawing off the brakes from the stroller lol. (She is very determined lol) Once that was done we were off on our Journey. It was one of the first times that Ange had taken Jacob out since he was diagnosed with SMA. So we had no idea what to expect. People started coming up to Ange and telling her what a beautiful baby Jacob was and what a incredible job she was doing. I think Ange needed that trip just as much as Jacob. After getting some things for Jacob and Alyssa(I remember Ange never bought things for herself...she always put her kids first), we decided it was time to head back home. We go to step outside and all of a sudden it starts pouring!! I guess we forgot to check the weather forcast before we left!! lol So Ange ran all the way back to the house got the car so we could make it home safe. Once back home safe and sound we all had a good laugh about our 'adventure'

I haven't forgotten about you guys!
I can't believe how big the kids are now, all of them. Abby is so adorable and I'm happy that she can bring so much happiness to your life.

I often think about going back to read the history too but still haven't gotten up the courage to actually do it yet. I don't think those memories will ever leave us..

Ange, thought I would let you know that Kari (Va Beach) is in the hospital. She had a surgery to remove extra fluid off the brain and then she contracted bacterial menengitis. She will be in there for about 6 weeks total. Thought you might want to know. I didn't realize it myself until just now.

Hi Allie,
Thanks for your post. You know... I did try to print out all the journal pages, tried to get them to print out best... I ran out of ink a few times and then put it off for awhile, forgot where I was, and it prints from last to first. So It was hard to get it to print where you can read from start to finish. But your right. One of these days when I have a night to myself I really would like to play with it and make a scrapbook of it all. Well a book with all the updates in it. Also I would like to someday watch all Jacobs home movies and put them all onto DVD. I wish you and your family a wonderful Holdiday also. And thanks for continuing to drop by!

Eileen, of course I remember you. Man you sent Jacob and Alyssa so much care mail in the years. I have boxes of all the cards and stuff people have sent us over time. I hold you very near and dear to my heart.
I love those christmas pictures of Jacob and ALyssa with Santa. THat was such a special time for us. I'm glad you still have the picture. I will put up Abby's picture with Santa when we get it done. And try to get a picture of me and scott together soon!!! I hate my picture being taken though. Have a great christmas eilleen.

Hey Barb, yes the kids are pretty excited for christmas. I cant believe its in two weeks... WOW. Abby wont know what is going on. But one of her favorite things to do at the moment is to play with a flyer when I am going through them on Friday mornings. She loves to crinkle it all up and make noise with the paper. And try to eat it!!! I hope you have a wonderful christmas Barb. Oh I went and visited the candle you lit for Jacob many years ago, just after he passed away. Its still burning and beautiful.

Hey Ange! I have left a few entries here and there and on facebook too over time. Thanks for adding me as a friend. I'm so glad to hear the great updates. Yes, after this long, I too still come back and check almost everyday for special updates. I think of Jacob and your whole family all the time. Jacob's was one of the first caringbridge sites that I had come across when I was in college. I feel like it was not too long ago that you were making updates on Jacob and his everyday life. You should print out the history and put them in a book/binder as part of a scrapbook like thing. I'm sure one day Abby will love to hear all about her big brother! You have such a beautiful family and I love seeing pictures! It was great to hear from you. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season. God bless you and your family. I having been crying for the past few minutes while reading your super heartfelt journal entry. I wish I could have met and held Jacob just once. I still come here to visit and check on updates. I love looking into your sweet angels eyes. They are so filled with love and you can see it. Abby is absolutely beautiful. I love her eyes. So blue and filled with wonderment. Thank you so much for that memory!!!
I do remember that day. It was when we were in Sick Kids for one of the longer stays. Jacob was pretty sick. I had not had any visitors for a few days and had not left Jacobs side. As you know he could not be left alone. I dont think Tiffany had worked for a few days as she was one of the nurses that would actually sit and stay with Jacob so I could run downstairs and get something to eat. I had not been out of Jacobs room for a few days and was starving!!! You had no fear of watching him for a few minutes. He was having a good day and you offered to watch him. I remember the hospitals suction tube! It was always on under his mattress on the bed and you just had to slide it in his mouth in the corner to get out his drool every few minutes. You didnt mind doing that!!! You were a life savour. Your right, Jacob did have that THANK YOU expression when you suctioned him. He would open his mouth wide for you to get it when he saw it. I loved his big blue eyes. They told you everything he was thinking through them. Abby has those same huge blue eyes.
One thing Abby does Ill tell you that squeezes my heart. She puts her hands up to the side of my face and pulls me to her for a kiss. Sometimes she just grabs my hair and pulls me, it hurts but I LOVE those big wet slobbery kisses. She kisses the kids rarly, Scott sometimes, and my mom has gotten a few. But me... I get tons of them!!! I think she is giving me all the kisses Jacob asked her to give me, from him! I sure wish I could have gotten all those kisses from Jacob. Abby is sure making up for lost time let me tell you. They are true, heart felt kisses, full of love.

Hi Angela, Scott, and kids...

I am so happy to see an update here. I love Jacob site, I miss him and hearing about what you guys are upto. Angela, you have no idea how happy I am for you. Tears filled my eyes when I was reading your entry. Abby, is a so beautiful but I think she looks more like Scott, sorry Ange :-( he, he. I wish I could get to hold her. I never held Jacob but I will never forget a momory that is just stuck in my mind.

It was at Sick Kids one of those days when I visited Jacob and I asked you if you need anything and you said if I would mind staying with Jacob for few minutes so you could go down. I thought to myself "would I mind!!! I would be honored!!!" anyway, I said absolutly no problem you go ahead and I will try to entertain the sweet little angel. Before you left you just showed me how to use the tube to drain him mouth. Oh, I remember those beautiful eyes and how he was searching for you. I just kept on making these funny faces and he just kept on smilling. But most of all, I remember how he did look at me when I helped him by draining the stuff from his little mouth, those eyes were just looking and saying Thank you! God, what an angel I thought to myself. You don't need to say Thank you Jacob, I said to him and he would just smile and then look at his wiggles! Then you walked into the room and of course, Jacob had the most beautiful biggest smile I seen, what a joy!!! I will cherish this memory for the rest of my life with me!

Oh, I think I have to go and get some fresh air now my eyes are just with tears, good tears, tears of an incredible boy who has changed the way I look at life, my kids and everything around me.

Hi Angela, what a wonderful family you have, the photos of little Abby are beautiful and Kyle and Alyssa look really happy and contented, you and Scott are truly blessed with your children and Jacob will be watching over you all, although I never met him I feel close to him and I like to think that he and our Abbie will be looking out for us and for each other in heaven. Glad to hear that all is well with you and your growing
family. I have a comment on the tear duct. My youngest had that same issuse for weeks, until an old home remedy cured her. I was told to steep a (tetley) tea bag, let it cool, then place it on her eye a few times. The tanic in the tea can clear it up. Sure to her word it did! Good Luck.

An update! Don't see you much on facebook either, but I DO know what it's like to have a nursing infant and other kids to take care of too (not to mention the house and everything else). Averie had the blocked tear duct, the hospital gave us little saline tubes for her eye. It didn't last long. Can't wait to see new pics of Abby. Good to hear from you and am glad that you are sounding so renewed by Abby's presence. I'll be back to sign on Jacob's 4th birthday!!! Sending love.
