I got my "Katelyn Kiss" last night, you will be getting the card in the mail. We will be relocating there little trees too one of these days. LOL I am not looking forward to that and had inlisted the help of Peppa!

Dear Mr. Hallmark,

All the times i have talked to Deb she has called Katelyn Boo, & i always assumed she was calling her that from the lil girl "Boo" on Monsters Inc the movie, then while talking to Deb on msn last night i mentioned Boo, & she said she had never heard of Boo before, or Monsters Inc, so i googled a pic of Boo to show her, don't u all agree she resembles Katelyn? same hair, & puffy cheeks! Kinda funny too cause when i looked her up it said the lil girl Boo is 2.5 yrs old, jst a lil older than Miss. K would be. So i wanted to share these 2 pics with you, Boo, & Boo! Boo off the movie has always reminded me of Katelyn, how ironic her name is "Boo".
Deb, Thinking of u lot's w Mother's Day approaching, god i wish i could do something to make this easier. Take care , & quit that dam job already! lol

As this mothersday approaches, I hope and pray that you will know just how much of a difference you, Brian and Angel Katelyn made in this world. (maybe not with the southern accent!LOL) She is just bursting with pride and so am I, I am proud to tell people about Katelyn and you and your family and everything you all have accomplished. I think Katelyn's blood donor page is wonderful! You did such a great job! :) You are right! I think a lot of people do not realize how important donating blood is and how it truly saves lives! I have donated in the past thanks to your request :) and the fact that a blood mobile used to come to my place of employment a few years back! Its really interesting to look back because although I realized the importance of blood donors prior to my son's diagnosis, I truly never even imagined there were children in this world who have endured countless transfusions like your precious little girl endure or that within a few years my son would endure 5 transfusions himself! It is now truly an amazing feeling to donate blood! Not to say that it wasnt before but I have now seen how truly life saving blood transfusions are and have such a respect for those that donate blood! It is truly something that almost everyone can do! How many times in this world will a person have a chance to help save someone's life! Truly amazing! I am very inspired by your dedication to bring awareness to the importance of donating blood! You are SUCH A WONDERFUL PERSON! :)

I am so excited to hear that you are going back to work! :) You will do great!

I wanted to tell you this little story about my daughter Kaylee. She is 4 years old and has a mouth on her that comes up with the darnedest things. We have had a couple of real windy days this past week, but outside with their big balls they want to play. Philip, typical boy, was kicking his around and Kaylee was throwing hers up in the air, when all of a sudden a big wind came and swooped her ball across the yard! She just went and stood still, looked up and said "Jesus, I love you!" turned around and said to my sister "Aunt Yo I like Jesus, He plays with me" When I heard that I thought to myself, these precious little Angels must have the time of there lives playing with Jesus up in Heaven! We send our love and prayers to you all.........

I noticed your entry on Julia's cbgb and I came by to meet you. In reading about your sweet Katelyn, I can tell that your loss is definitely heaven's gain. I am praying for you as you continue to grieve for her and your dad and your grandpa. Your clinic blood drive was a wonderful tribute and will no doubt help many children. Hello Debbie and Brian,
I have been reading your page for a month now and I finished reading your journal. I am totally amazed at the similarities of our lives. I have lost 2 children myself from a genetic disease that runs on my side of the family. My son was stillborn and my daughter passed away at 2.5 years of age. It is much harder to lose a child after spending time with them and I have a hard time dealing with it everyday. This might sound awful but it is better to lose a child before you grow with them. I don't mean that in a bad way, please do not take it wrong.

I have noticed that your family is always supporting your webpage and have learned alot about them from the entries. You are very lucky to have them in your life. My husbands family has always supported us in great depths but my family has not. My sister has a child with the same genetic disorder and they are more worried about her and my neice and can't be bothered with our problems. It is rather sad but we have learned to deal with it without them.

I am going to continue to visit your site, it is very beautiful as is your daughter.
God be with you and the family that supports you.

You two did a great job yesterday with the blood clinic and it was great to see how many first-timers came out to donate in Katelyn's memory.

I'm so sorry to learn of the passing of your Grandpa Newman. How lucky you all were to have him to enjoy all these years! I hope you're okay.
As you know, things are moving right along. The telethon's out of the way and now it's the radiothon and then hopefully the pace will slow a bit.
I'm glad you noticed Katelyn's bracelet on T.V. I did that just so you'd know that she and you guys are never far from my heart!
I've been refreshing my memory a bit about Kirk's medical history for the sake of the interviews. It's kinda getting to me having to reflect on the progression of his disease and how it's taken over his life. I'll be glad to get back to 'living for today' and not looking back on all the cruelty of Kirk's disease, that's for sure!
Anyway...my bed's calling my name. I still haven't quite adjusted to the time change yet.
I pray that you have a good day tomorrow at the clinic. Please don't feel bad if the numbers aren't way up there. That's only one part of your mission. The other part is awareness...and you've done a simply fantastic job getting the word out. Sometimes the results aren't immediate.

I sat and read through the first little bit and cried, as I have a little daughter, Alexandra, that Flew to Heaven to wait for me at the young age of 26 hours old. All those poems are just beautiful. Someone gave me a butterfly necklace and card to help me out with remembering my little girl and I read that poem about butterflies and knew that something greater was calling me to read your page and just tell you that although I do not know you and have never met you I want you to know that I will pray for your family, and the peace of knowing where she is waiting for you. Because like you I know that you never get over it, you just find different ways to coupe with the loss. I know a portion of your pain of not having a child with you, my daughter fought for 9 weeks in my belly and for another 26 hours of life. You had a much greater time with your little girl but just the same we each had to watch our children fight for thier lives and lose. God be with you and your family.

Hi Deb & Brian,
I know I haven't signed in since you left and especially on Boo's 1 yr..I just felt so overwhelmed seeing you and watching the love you shower Brandon with and it broke me to know how much you both hurt and you have my prayers everyday. Brandon was admitted to Sick Kids on Tuesday...so no computer handy. He had a good morning and then just seemed to go downhill, breathless..nausea, fever, no infections brewing but they think he is diabetic!! We will find out in the next couple of days....and I will let you know. And yes...he wanted his guitar with him at the hospital...told him if he's still there on Monday I'll bring it to him (we might go home monday!).
Love you and miss you soooo good to see you guys and get hugs in person. Emily is asking when she gets to go to your house and Deb...I think you have to more in, remember?

Hi you two,
I just want you to know that I'm not just tuning in today. I was with you all day yesterday as well but no words would come, believe it or not. I'm still having trouble transferring these feelings into words...they just aren't flowing. Everything that I try to write sounds too insignificant for the occasion. I assume in a couple of days...when my emotions stop interfering with my pen, I will be able to share my thoughts and the lessons I've learned from your family. Meanwhile, know that you're in my heart and I'm still here to support you.
I have one observation to share though...my crocuses are up. Last year there was one purple one in amongst all the yellow, if you recall. This year it is white! White as an angel's halo!!!

I was being strong til I finished Bonnie's entry! Such true and honest and heartfelt words and sentiment. You both are amazing parents and teacher's.

I know Katelyn has taught us alot, but I have to tell you we have learned alot from you and Brian too! It's hard to believe that a year ago I got an email telling me of little miss. A year....

My heart breaks for you again on this day, but I also think of the year we have spent in each other's lives. The purple flowers, butterflies, New Year's Eve, Sarah's anesthetic and all games that little miss has been playing! I must say the least fun was the throwing of ice cream, was that in April last year?

You know that you are in our thoughts every day, today is no different...just sadder. I will however celebrate Katelyn's life, it was not in vain, I don't have to tell you the impact that she has had on not just people.... but geesh I think the world.

Here are the rest of Katelyn's balloons! HaHaHa the funny thing is i actually thought they would fly, with her princess crown, easter basket, & candies attached! lol So after it flew straight into the water, Brent waited ashore rescued them, & we went to a park, & let them go! i do have more pictures to show you, but taking pictures into the bright sun is hard, esp when the balloons are LIGHT pink/purple! Brent, Tyson, Riley, & i spent time today, doing the balloons, & talking about Katelyn lot's. Brent even said he wishes he was old enough to give blood! Your lil girl has made a big impact on my family, & as the lady was fillin all those purple balloons she said to me, wow someone sure loves purple! with a tear in my eye i said ya she does!

Visiting the site today. Mike's aunt sent us an email with a little boy named Lucas diagnosed with cancer. Her son is a friend of his. To my surprise Katelyn was there with a blood donating campain. I had to visit her site. Emma my daughter wanted to see the babee as she said it and I told her Katelyn's story very carefully so a 2 year old could understand. Thinking of you today and always. Hi Deb... I don't know what it is about your site, but it's a 'hit or miss' for me as to whether or not I get in. Most of the time, it just won't even load... or it loads a little bit and then freezes... Just know that I do stop by often... I used to donate blood, but I was 'given the 'ole heave-ho!!!' My blood is rare - A negative, but due to problems with my immune system, I can't donate any more...

Yep...was quite the site when we went to donate blood. Ange was so excited when we went to our appointment to donate she was bouncing. Even after the nurse messed up the first attempt...Ange cried out by the way...she was still a trooper and toughed it out for sure...she has quite the bruises we noticed when we got up this morning. We told everyone about Katelyn and how you are helping the cause in your area and all over the world with your efforts. Ange was passing the web site on to others so hopefully it helps in not only the 'drive for donating blood' but blessing others with Katelyn's storey and keeping her memory strong. Hello from Lebanon, i will tell you a little story, i am a volunteer at the Children's Cancer Center of Lebanon, 4 months ago a child, who was 5 years old who had cancer, had an interior bleeding and he had also law platletes. unfortunatly he died not from cancer but from bleeding to death, we couldn't find a donor in time.
So PLEASE everyone who see the poster pls donate blood or platelets if needed because u are savingsomeone's life.

I just explained to the woman who checked me in that I was donating in honor of your little angel...she said hold on a sec and came back with a really cute card that I will be mailing out to you tomorrow!

I see the blood clinic has you spending all your energy on helping others to give "the gift of life".
Before Katelyn was born we just always assumed blood would be there and never realized that someone's life actually depended on people that donate blood ( I believed it just fell from another planet and was sitting on a shelf waiting to be used)

Thanks for the update - I've been away from a computer for a while - so nice to visit Katelyn's site - with the twinkling stars. That is just how I feel about Adam. He will have been 3 on March 6th. So it's a funny time for us. Around this time of year things just don't smell or feel the way they did after he was born. We have been changed forever from this experience. I'll be checking in more frequently now that our computer is fixed.

For anybody that would like to donate blood in Honor of Katelyn that lives in the United States of America,
I made a few phone calls and this is what I had found out so far, if you would like to donate blood in "Honor of Katelyn" call 1-800-448-3543, they can give you a local number where you could go donate. The lady that I had spoke to said that when you go - Walk-in's welcome, but Appointments-preffered, just tell them that you want to make a "Designated Blood Donation in Honor of ....." and they will give you a card to fill out. Cards should be available at all locations and mobile stations.
Ms Deb and I will be contacting you in regards to that other matter, I am waiting on a response.

While we are on the blood donation soapbox, how about thinking about joining the bone marrow registry? It's really a simple thing to do and just think, your donation can literally save someone's life!!! If you want more information, check out the Katelyn Bedard Bone Marrow Association website. There is a link to Canadian Blood Services and you can start the process right away. If you are from another country there are links to the various bone marrow registries in your country.

Just a quick note before bed. Good work rallying for blood you two. I've always donated anyway, but now the memory of Katelyn gets me in there more frequently. I've donated once for Katelyn but you musn't forget...we live in Georgetown and no one at the clinic seemed to be able to find a donation card for me and told me to call Toronto yadayadayada. And of course, you know me...the next time I thought of it, I couldn't remember the dates etc. Doesn't matter though cause the blood's there and Katelyn and I know about it don't we Princess?
Kirkland will be happy to push for donations on his site, you know that so just let me have the details and we'll go to it!
I know you're talking of going back to work Deb, but have you given us the details and I've just missed it or can you share with us? You know...the who what where when why of it all? Not too pushy am I? LOL

OH, I am sooooo dissapointed! This is how my day started, I worked a 12 hour shift and about 5am I started with a little cough here and little one there, you know, nothing to worry about, was a smoker but has been smoke-free for about 4 years now, but still get that smokers cough sometimes, especially when it is cold. I was soooooooo terribly excited about donating blood, I went home, picked up the kids and my sister and drove all the way back to come and donate blood, went through the whole process and about 15 minutes later got to finally sit down to enter my personal details into the database, low and behold I started coughing and sneezing, they turned me down! I understand, but I just wanted to cry! The good thing is, I know now that I can just go to the main office downtown to go donate blood, I will have to wait a couple of weeks, but that's ok, I'll be ready then! I was so excited that I had talked a couple of people into thinking about donating too, ain't it wonderful! Take care guys, try and stay warm!

Did you get the snow too? Bet Katelyn had something to do with this. I love it! Really! Just finished shovelling my sidewalk and the neighbour's too! Lots of fun... get to talk to the other neighbours too. One of them just keeps watching from his window... creepy... I just stare him down and when I went in... I waved good-bye. You can't always see him.. but he is there... all of the sudden the drapes fall back in place or you see a shadow move. Some people are soooooo funny-strange!

Yeah! I found one! They are having a Red Cross Blood Drive tomorrow close to were I work, so I will let you know how it went tomorrow night! Hope things are well and you had a good birthday Brian! I'm so sorry you couldn't have been celebrating your 29th b-day like I was! LOL It's pretty bad when I have no news to write about...on the other hand, maybe that's good!
Evan's foot's recovering but now Carson's down with a pretty bad cold. I've been reading up on aromatherapy lately and went down to the health food store on Main str. today and picked up some essential oils to mix up a concoction for Carson's bad chest. So far so good. It's for Kirk too...supposed to help with respiratory distress, asthma, bronchitis etc. While I was doing that, I discovered a remedy for seizures so now I'm on the hunt for this neurologist in England who specializes in seizure aromatherapy. I've been on the internet since 4pm and I'm wiped!!
Kirk's been sleeping most of that time too so it's been a bit of a break for me. Looks like Carson will be home again tomorrow. Here I go again...writing journal entries in your guestbook...well just don't say I never write anything LOL.
Kirk's good. You should have seen us dancing around the livingroom yesterday with 25 ft. of O2 tubing to John Denver's "Thank God I'm a Country Boy!" He loved it but my back didn't after 2 songs! I wish we had it on video...oh Joooooddddddyyyyy!

You are one of THE most selfless, caring, thoughtful, wonderful people Ihave ever been honored to meet. Thank you sooooo much for the wonderful tribute for Jacob. And getting all those people to sign. Mom told me about it... but I was really having a hard time with things, then that silly person posted the crap on his site. To say the least it was a hard weekend. I havent been able to do much. I thought that I would be so upset seeing your tribute, but it made me smile so much. It is so beautiful. Katelyn would be so proud of you right now. Your going through all this that we other angel moms are going through, and on top of it you are able to manage to do so many wonderful things for so many other people. I must say Katelyn your mom is something special! You have no idea how much the memorial site you made for Jacob means to us Deb. And putting out the word and getting so many people to sign is an outstanding tribute to Jacob. This weekend has been difficult to say the least being Jacob's 1 year Angel anniversary and all but you still manage to put a smile on our face. Every time I log onto Katelyn's site I find little tidbits that are different! Great stuff how you keep on top of things Deb...I hear you when it comes to dial up as well... have the same in my area. I'll be sure to pray for all the little ones who are not feeling too well or having surgery soon. What makes the world go round for sure. Please take care! Will be praying for Collin and Brandon. We have a little girl Danielle that has C.F. too. She will be operated Feb. 27 to have some of her right lung taken out at sick kids also.
