Zoe’s Story

Site created on March 29, 2023

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.

Zoe is a 19 year old college student. She started having pain in her hip in December of 2022. Seeing a chiropractor and many doctors didn’t seem to help or relieve any pain nor did medication. She was playing with her nephew one day and he jumped on her leg. This is when she noticed a large lump in her groin area.

After having an x ray and an MRI, they determined she had a plum sized mass in her right groin and swelling of her bone marrow in her right hip (which is where the pain was coming from). The mass was sent to pathology where it was determined that Zoe has aggressive B-Cell Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. She will undergo chemotherapy to try and eliminate the cancer. We are still trying to determine stage and plan of attack.

She will have a bone marrow biopsy and a PET scan soon to determine details of stage and treatment.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Samantha Reese

Hey all! I’m sorry I haven’t updated in a little while. Overall, Zoe is doing pretty well.

Her first chemo was a bit rough and her body sort of rejected it and she had some minor reactions, but they got it all sorted out and she was able to finish a 7 hour day of chemo.

She felt pretty tired afterwards, but no major side effects, so we are very thankful for that!

Zoe has started losing a very significant amount of hair already. As a female this is one of the hardest side effects of chemo. She’s hanging in there and still has a very strong, positive mindset.

She will go in tomorrow for her second (of 6) round of chemo. Keep the prayers and positive thoughts coming! 💚
