Xavier’s Story

Site created on October 9, 2022

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
Xavier (Zave)  had a love for biking and recently did a 50 mile bike ride before his 50th birthday.  In the late morning on Wednesday, October 5th, Zave was out riding his bike and was hit by a car.  He was taken by ambulance to North Memorial in Robbinsdale. He sustained life threatening injuries and was in trauma surgery for several hours before being moved to the ICU where he was stabilized.  Once we were notified, we immediately headed to the hospital where we found out the details of his injuries. He had lung damage in multiple areas, including a ruptured diaphragm; pelvic fracture and multiple rib fractures; damage to his spleen (though not injured enough to remove);  and he has a serious head/brain injury that will require a lot of prayers and healing.  He is in a coma and will continue to undergo testing and surgeries to determine the extent of damage throughout his body, but especially in his brain.  Please join us praying for Xavier and holding hope for his recovery during this difficulty time.

Happy Spring 🙂

Xavier went to see his cancer doctor today to get the results of his PET scan.

Great news, the cancer is gone!

5 months ago, Xavier was wheeled into the hospital in a wheel chair, and as those of you remember who visited him at that time in late September last year, he was laying in bed with multi organ failure, barely able to move or talk. We asked about chemotherapy and the medical staff said he was too sick for chemotherapy.  It was a tough time for the family and we had to accept it might be his time to go to the next life.  However, his cancer doctor had hope for a treatment she read in a study, while other medical staff skeptical of the treatment and believing the family should consider hospice.  I believe the doctor was also moved by seeing the love of the family to want to do something to help.  Xavier once again surprised us all with an amazing recovery!

We owe so much to the support, love and prayers of all of you!  We praise God for his continuing graces upon Xavier and the family.  Xavier is doing better than ever after his accident, going for long walks and walking on the treadmill on cold days.  He has been eating health and spending time with spiritual reading each day.

Bryce will be taking the family out for dinner to celebrate ❤️

God bless you all!

Angelo
