Journal entry by Ranelle Maltas —
It has been one year since we started Zane's cancer journey. Unfortunately it only lasted five short months. Thank you for everyone who has reached out to us to check in. We truly appreciate your friendship. Please keep our family in mind as we begin the first year of remembering and looking back at this journey. We are willing to answer questions you may have or get together to share memories.
Thanks to many of you, over $2,000 was donated in Zane's memory to three local theatres. His name is on Seat A6 at the Lincoln Community Playhouse (just in front of the pit), and the green room at TADA Theatre is named in his honor. A brick is also to be laid outside the Lied Center for Performing Arts.
And, as of today, we have created the #38036 LSW Louis Armstrong Jazz Award with the LPS Foundation in Zane's memory. There will be a starting balance of over $4,000. It will not accrue interest unless it gets to $10,000 to become endowed. If you want to continue to honor Zane, we welcome you to donate to this fund.
On Monday, May 6, Lincoln Southwest will award the first $250 to the winner of the Louis B. Armstrong Jazz Award at their Jazz Concert that evening. Alyssa Wilhelm will recognize and honor Zane when presenting this award.
A $25 donation to CaringBridge powers a site like Zane's for two weeks. Will you make a gift to help ensure that this site stays online for them and for you?
