Yigdal’s Story

Site created on June 18, 2020

Welcome to my CaringBridge website.

My name is Yigdal, call me Yigs. I hurt my back in January 2020 as I slammed on my brakes to avoid a car accident. I noticed something didn't feel right.  I had been working days at one job, and long nights in my glass studio and I didn't want to stop either one. At first I did not take the pain seriously, and tried to go back to work. However, I soon figured out that this needed more rest and attention than I originally thought. I spent most of  January and February stuck on my back, and I had  an epidural in March. I also started Physical Therap,  tried acupuncture, reiki, energy work, and variety of other things my mother had suggested. I did make some progress, but not enough.

When COVID-19 hit, and they discontinued nonessential procedures ,  I could no longer get another epidural. Finally after five months—enough was enough! Finally,  I elected to go for spinal surgery.  So on June 18th,  I went under the knife to alleviate the excruciating pain that I have been feeling  down my leg.. I invite you to post some words of encouragement and well wishes on this journal as  I recover from the surgery and begin to put my life back together..... for there is there is nothing I’d rather do than be back in the glass studio, take a walk and get back to life with good intentions to take care of my body differently.  We are using this site to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

From Yigdal:

Nine days post-operation, I'm feeling much more of myself.  My back is still very stiff, and I am still very sensitive, but  generally speaking  it  feels like my operating system is returning to normal. I have been walking a bit every day, increasing distance every time.  I working towards  am still relatively weak after spending the last five months on my back  but I looking forward to working on getting my strength back.

thanks so much for keepingmein your prayers and looking forward to sharing more updates.
