Journal

I can't believe it's been 6 months since Bill's treatment ended. It feels like it was just yesterday, but also as if it was eons ago.

Bill continues to improve, which is awesome! He's eating almost any and every food that he wants to eat except for spicy food, which is still a little much for his new baby taste buds.  If you know Bill well, you know he LOVES spicy food; the hotter, the better. Now, even Texas Pete is too much. But he keeps on trying to eat it anyway, and if you know Bill well this will not surprise you one bit.  🤣

Yesterday, he had his 6 month checkup, which included a CT scan to check on the treatment induced blood clots he developed. The CT scan covered his neck area as well, so we got to check for any new developments. He also had a scope to check the primary tumor area at the base of his tongue, which was the portal to the fiendish hellscape that is cancer.

And everything was fine! Not just fine, but perfect! The  blood clots have dissolved, his tongue looks normal with the tumor completely gone, and his blood work was normal as well. His doctors are as pumped as we are at this news. Bill is officially in remission.

I don't know whether we will ever feel completely at ease again- we'll always be looking over our shoulder a little bit, wondering if it will pop up again like a particularly bad penny- but we are feeling so, so, so much better with all this good news.

Thank you to all of you who have supported us from near and far. whether through physically bringing and sending us things we needed, to sending us sweet messages of care or terrible memes to laugh at, to offering to have our backs anytime, 24/7, and everything in between. We appreciate all y'all so much. They say when a crisis happens, you find out who your real friends are. We certainly did, and we are so very lucky.
