Journal

Well, it’s been a year since I last posted. Here is a brief update on Wilson’s progress.

Last October, a high school friend took a road trip with Wilson to Colorado. It was an incredible event, the beginning of doing normal things, even though there were significant challenges. He also attended church in person for the first time in over a year. November and December brought many blessings and opportunities to be thankful for family, friends and the slow improvement in learning to do basic things independently.

The new year brought a connection to community with the start of virtual classes through Texas Workforce Commission. Three days a week Wilson meets online with other visually impaired/blind adults in training classes on becoming independent and working toward preparing to enter the workforce eventually.

In June, he was admitted as a virtual student to the Criss Cole Rehabilitation Center in Austin. As soon as the Covid restrictions are lifted, he will become a resident in the center and learn the skills needed to become independent in his daily living as well as prepare for schooling and/or a job.

We are so thankful for the continued support of many friends and family! We cherish your love and encouragement. Wilson is such a people person, and he has utilized current technology to keep in touch through phone calls, texts, emails, etc. Currently, there is no expectation that he will regain his eye sight or walk again; but his outlook is positive and he’s excited to be the best he can be, and to help others be their best. We give God the glory for all the blessings!

Please continue to pray for God’s guidance. We are so thankful for your support and pray that all of you are well. May God bless you all abundantly!!

Check out his Facebook page for a few pictures from the last year, and message him if you’d like for him to connect with you by phone.
