Newest Update

Journal entry by Stacey Drysdale

Hey friends,

So lots to update.

First off, we noticed over the last three years since Will's aneurysm he has slowly lost more and more mobility in his right arm, leg and is losing muscle tone on the left side of his face. His right arm now shakes and he is unable to use it all. His right leg is getting stiff and he's losing sensation so his walking is being impared. He now drools because of losing sensation on the left side of his face and his teeth and jaw are becoming misshapen. He struggles with depression and anxiety on top of everything else.

That said, he is for the most part is witty, smart and a typical younger brother. The girls have matured though so there are far less rows among them all.

Will struggled last year more than others due to his mobility issues. He was in a school that had been great for helping with his learning disabilities, but then he needed to be in a wheelchair to reserve his energy. Unfortunately the school was not accessible and so he spent the whole year in the library with an aide. He was very lonely and completely got out of the rythem of school.

This past year we were able to get him into an autism program and he moved schools. His teacher is great and he is making friends and for the most part wants to go to school. The teacher takes them swimming every week and they go on a field trip either to the library or the mall every week. They also cook one day of the week and do lots of projects  He hates doing schoolwork as he believes he has learned all he needs to know. LOL.

His health is slowly deteriating. His mobility is getting worse and he is having a harder time getting around. Despite that he still would prefer to walk everywhere. He gets tired out easily and needs to rest.

The big news is how big he is now. I swear he's grown a foot since last year. The girls are not too pleased that he is taller than them, he's passed all of us except his dad and I'm sure it won't be long.

Will is still obsessed with Lego. It's amazing to watch him put together sets with one hand.

We had to put down our dog Sadie a year ago. The kids took it really hard and they pushed for us to get another dog. Will is allergic to pretty much any animal on the planet so we got a Labradoodle to help with the allergies. She is 50 lbs and is a horse. Will adores her and she is very good natured. Her name is Tilly and she needs to be as close to you as possible at all times.

I'm adding a few recent pics of him. He's grown so much. ❤️
