Journal entry by Valerie Dexter

We are on day 13 of Induction.  They draw blood daily from her port and watch the levels closely.  This is a fine balance of watching her Hemoglobin, Platelets and Neutrophil counts. Today we are low on all counts, which is to be expected.  Little stinker butt is tired and sleeping often.  She fights the hunger from the steroids with tummy aches which keep her from eating the foods she's craving.   Willow has lost 6 lbs since leaving home.  It is hard for her Dad and I to see her fighting this.  Cancer should never be something that kids have to worry about.  The good news is that she is enjoying the mail and the gifts that have been sent to her.  We have taped every card that she has received on her wall and there are so many so far.  We're not sure when we will be able to go home, but we are all looking forward to it.  Willow misses her friends, her family and her pets.  Forgive me if today isn't as positive as other days...but we are all hanging in there.  Thank you all for keeping up with Willow's journey and cheering her on with prayers, virtual hugs and well wishes.
