Journal entry by Andy Pettit

Early last week, Mr. Pettit went in for his intensive PET scan to verify the results of the earlier tests in March.  It was a torturous day for him, but obviously a drop in the bucket from what he went through treatment wise.  The next morning, his doctor called him very early and said "I'm sorry for calling so early, but I've wanted to call you all night.  I do not get to make calls like this very often, especially to Stage IV head and neck patients.  Your tests came back totally clean.  No cancer found in your head, neck, lungs, kidney.  No cancer anywhere.  You're in full remission."  Such amazing news and a beautiful blessing.

There was a touch of bad news, but we will gladly take it with the good!  The intensive cancer treatment (on top of playing college football) severely damaged the discs in his back, he will certainly have surgery in his future.

He has been battling some infections and he will have to stay very diligent to avoid sick people as he is, and will be, severely immunocompromised.  He is also struggling a bit keeping up his nutrition, but is battling that just like he does everything.

He and his beautiful family are trying to get their life back to as normal as possible.  It sounds like most nights are filled with kids activities and the business of living!  He is back to work, but I'm entirely not sure that ornery kid ever stopped working.

Thank you all for the amazing support, prayers and special thoughts.  Please keep them coming and many blessings to your and yours!

God Bless,
Andy & Rodney Pettit
