Journal
Whit just can’t stay away. He loves the food, on demand TV and movies and round the clock care so much he came back.
But after 24 hours they said - time to go home.
Fortunately, he is being discharged today with a new round of heavy duty antibiotics.
Infectious Diseases got to join his team to determine why his infection didn’t fully clear after 12 days of antibiotics. They have a couple of theories - but to confirm would require invasive surgery that might not be necessary. So based on MRI and presentation they are treating as if the bone was infected as well as tissue and fluid. The treatment was/is IV antibiotics which infectious disease has tested and he can continue orally as opposed to going home on a pump. (Yesterday it was looking that way)
Again, thankful for the team and hospital and thankful to go home to our own beds and comforts of home.
Happy summer!
