Journal entry by Clarence Fields

Friday, April 23rd at 3:29pm in Downtown Minneapolis at Children’s Hospital, Wesley Ceasar Fields made his grand entrance and introduced himself to his parents, Callie and Clarence.

The unknowns became knowns and through God’s son Jesus, Wesley was an instant miracle. He arrived strong and independent despite having an encephalocele which is a rare type of birth defect of the neural tube that affects the brain. In addition to the encephalocele, Wesley also has a brain cleft, hydrocephalus, enlarged ventricles and the list goes on.

It’s pretty obvious that Wesley is not normal because despite all of the perceived complications, he has exceeded all of the expectations so far. Breathing on his own, eating like a little pig (lol), smiling, expressing his feelings and most importantly, knowing who his parents are :)

We decided to start a site for him so everyone would have a central source of information to rely on in order to keep track of his process.

I encourage you to do some research on some of the things he has going on because until it effects you or someone you know l, you never really realize what people are dealing with. On the other hand, these Nurses, Physician Assistants, Doctors, Nursing Assistants and the rest of the staff at these hospitals are some of the most amazing people alive.

We are thankful for everyone who has checked in, prayed for our family, offered their time and resources, etc.

This is only the beginning!
