Wes’s Story

Site created on January 12, 2019

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

On Thursday, January 10th, 2019 Wes woke up not feeling well.  Renee and he determined he was having an active heart attack and gave him a baby aspirin and called the ambulance.  The emergency squad took Wes to Lakeside Hospital with Renee close behind.  At Lakeside, Dr. White was able to place a stint in Wes's completely blocked left ventricle artery and get some flow; however, he painted a pretty grim picture.  Dr. White also put in a ball pump in to help pump the heart; after every heart beat the ball pump beats also.  He told all of us that Wes is a fighter, and he did the best he could but only five to ten percent of people with this sort of heart attack survive.  There has been significant damage to the heart and just as soon as he was stable they would be transporting Wes to Bergan Mercy because they had exhausted options at Lakeside Hospital.  Our family had about one minute to tell him we loved him as he wheeled by us.

Once at Bergan, Wes was admitted to the ICU.  He has been receiving 24 hour, one-to-one nursing care, and a huge team of doctors.  He is stable, but continues to be in critical condition.

Thank you for all the love and support! We have had many people reach out about helping with meals. We have plenty arranged for the house at this time. However, here is a link so you can sign up to assist with salads and desserts for the luncheon after the funeral service.
