Wendy’s Story

Site created on November 13, 2019

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. This is not easy for me to write. The three most feared words in the English language are the words that I heard last night. “You have cancer.”  I have been diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer. I will begin chemotherapy starting tomorrow morning. Treatment will not be easy, but the doctor is confident that with treatment, and potentially surgery, that we will be able to remove the cancer in time, but not without your love and prayers. This has come as a shock to me, as I am sure that it is for most of you. I know that many of you will want to reach out to me, but this will be a difficult time for me and my family. For that reason, my family has decided to set up a Caring Bridge website to keep you informed and to allow you to post prayers and messages of encouragement that I will desperately need during this battle.  Thank you for all of your love and support. It is greatly appreciated.
God Bless,

Wendy Pratley and Family

Newest Update

Journal entry by Wendy Pratley

While we haven’t updated in a while we feel it is important to do so now. Our Mother Wendy Pratley is the strongest woman we know, as well as being the most selfless person we know.  She has battled and beaten cancer twice.   This past spring, however, while under going treatments, she had an infection that her body couldn’t fight and caused permanent damage to her kidneys for which she must be on dialysis.  Because of the need to be on dialysis that means she has not been able to treat her cancer with chemotherapy and thus it continues to spread.  While we are praying for a miracle, and we know our God performs them, we thought it was important to let everyone know that without that miracle we are left with just a short time with her here on earth.   We will continue to pray and ask that you do the same, while we look to enjoy whatever time we have left with an unbelievable woman.  As you can imagine this news has hit both our parents hard and while they have strong faith, it is a difficult time to be sure.   Not many people get the chance to say goodbye to loved ones, so if you get the opportunity to send her some love via message, text, or an old fashioned letter or card, we know she would be appreciative.  We don’t think she knows the impact her life has had on so many people as she has chosen to live most of it in the background.  If you would like to do so,the address is P.O. Box 1546 Frankfort MI 49635
