Journal

It’s been a few weeks filled with many ups and downs. Wendy kicked A$$ while she was inpatient receiving her first dose of her new rounds of chemo. The schedule is 6 more weeks of chemo. She receives a 5 hour dose of chemo inpatient and remains inpatient each time for 4-5 days to keep fluids going to flush kidneys of the toxins. She’s then home for 2 weeks recovering and back in for another dose of chemo and roughly 5 days inpatient. Tomorrow 10/15/ she begins round 2. In the weeks she has been home it’s been difficult. A few “good” days mixed with multiple days of extreme fatigue, weakness, and passing out with pain. Last week those symptoms ramped up which led her to be admitted to ProHealth Waukesha Hosptial. She has remained there since. Many uncertainties and sad moments for all of us as she lay in the Hosptial bed either sleeping, awake and in pain, or trying to be coherent enough fighting against the side effects of all the medications being used to treat her pain and tumors. Mom, Cheryl, has. been allowed to see Wendy. Mady and Violet are amazing young ladies. Violet enjoys cooking and makes meals and Mady keeps the house, schedules and school happenings organized. Violet has chickens that are due to begin laying eggs in November. They both take care of Harvey the cat and Duke the dog.

Now for the good news, as of Sunday 10/11 Wendy rallied and has continued to rally. Her pain and headaches have lessened, she’s coherent,up with staff assistance and the nausea and vomiting has subsided. Yesterday Mom and Dad ( Cheryl and Bob) Mady and Violet, Greg and myself ( Jennifer or to most of you, Jenny) got to see Wendy outside of the Hosptial doors for a couple of hours! Carey (sister) wasn’t able to make it because of an appointment that couldn’t be missed) It was a sunny day and a heartwarming time to be together. Wendy is clear minded, strong and unwavering about fighting by beginning round 2 of Chemo tomorrow (10/15).

Regarding Carey, as many of you know Carey (Bob and Cheryl’s daughter and me and Wendy’s sister) has Ovarian Cancer. She is doing well. She’s endured so much with an astounding amount of grace. Carey is involved with supporting and being there for Wendy and the family as much as anyone else You would never know how much she has undergone and how much she faces everyday.
Thank you for your time and kindness. We can feel the blessings and love that you give to Wendy and family.
