Wendy’s Story

Site created on January 23, 2021

We have decided to use Caring Bridge as a tool to keep our family and friends up to date with my health condition.
What started out as a trip to urgent care with a high fever to get tested for covid on December 20th, turned into a few days, then weeks of tests.  Long story short, the scans showed masses in my colon and liver.  Biopsies of both have confirmed colon cancer that has metastasized to the liver.  It was decided the best course of action was to start chemo to reduce the sizes of the tumors, with hopes of surgery down the road.  We were able to start chemo in Marshall on January 13th.  The current plan is to have chemo every other week, which is Wednesday at the clinic and come home with a pump for another 48 hours.  Then we go back on Friday to get that disconnected and get some fluids.  The next step is to do a scan in a couple months to see how well the chemo is shrinking things.
This news was a shock to hear, but immediately we thought, God will use this.  We don't always understand the big picture, but we know Romans 8:28 tells us  the Lord works all things to the good of those who love him and are called according to His plan.   With prayer, the Lord has given us Peace as we start this journey.  We believe in the power of prayer.   We are trusting in the Lord completely as our Comforter, our Provider, and our Healer.   We are very blessed to have such a large group of prayer warriors interceding for us.
Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.  Psalms 9:10

In the very early hours of this morning, with Bob and the girls present, Wendy was received into heaven where she stands in the presence of her Lord. Thank you for all your prayers and thoughts.
