Joseph’s Story

Site created on August 22, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Our little warrior Joseph was diagnosed on August 6, 2018 with a rare and malignant form of bone and soft tissue cancer called Ewing’s Sarcoma. Joseph has always been an energetic, healthy and active boy that has rarely gotten sick,  in all of his 13 years of life!  However, this past summer of 2018, The Smith Family experienced one of the greatest shocks of their lives.  Joseph went to a basketball camp the last week of June and on June 27th, was kneed during a lay up shot and broke his fibula in his right leg. Through a series of medical procedures, doctors and specialists, we discovered that a cancerous tumor had weakened the bone, causing an easy fracture.  Without this injury, this disease wouldn’t have been exposed, and could have made the fight against this cancer A LOT harder.  So our first miracle in Warrior Joseph’s story was his broken fibula;  A blessing in disguise, to find this cancer so early!

Journal entry by Dorcas Smith

It's been exactly 2 months since my last post!  Since, today is a BIG DAY in the journey, I had to make it happen!  Today, Dec. 6th, 2018 we check into the OHSU at 8:45am for the surgery that is scheduled for 11:45am-4:00pm!  Thank you for BELIEVING GOD with us!!!  He delivered Daniel from the lion's den, The Hebrew Boys from the fiery furnace, Moses and The Israelites from Egypt (crossing the red sea on dry ground, Joseph from the pit to the palace, and so many other REAL people in the BIBLE!!! NOW it's time for my JOJO's deliverance from Ewing's Sarcoma Cancer!!!  Hallelujah!!! I am believing for a new fibula bone to replace the one they want to remove today!  I pray that there will be no damage of any kind during the process:  Every nerve and blood vessel will be cancer free, unharmed, left intact, and functioning according to God's original design; every joint, bone, ligament, muscle, the growth plate, etc. will be cancer-free, untouched, 100% restored, protected, and operating the way it was created to; we all would have peace that passes all understanding; supernatural healing, comfort, and restoration in every area of Joseph's life (body, soul, and spirit)!  As it is in Heaven, it is so for Joseph, here on earth!!! In Jesus/Yeshua's Name, Amen!!! Oh and I pray for the whole entire medical team that is involved with Joseph to have a supernatural anointing, grace, and wisdom for any procedures that God allows take place today!

Thank you for your prayers!!!  Thank you for your support!!!  Thank you for your love!!!  Thank you for  your gifts!!!  Thank you for your blessings!!!  Our hearts are soooooooo full of gratitude for YOU!!!
