Journal entry by Cheryl Townshend —
So....our bags are packed... we’re ready to go... wait... isn’t that a song?
We are waiting for a few more teams to give their blessing on departure. We have been okayed by the surgeons involved and the endocrinologists. Now we are waiting for the pharmacy team and home health. A hospital is a real dance floor with everyone waltzing around to their various tunes and rhythms. Walt’s dance card has been full for the last 11 days!!! He is ready to sit the next one out!
Three vaccines to be given... he is already a pin cushion... more examinations...review of discharge instructions...pick up medicines..deep breaths!!! Last heparin shot...Hallelujah !!!!
Thank God for timely devotions this morning. Read “ claim God’s “ with-ness” when you are within your weakness.” We are anxious to get home to a familiar bed, kitchen, routine, etc. We are grateful for an iPhone that permits us to access Christian music with encouraging lyrics and soothing instrumentation.
It’s almost over and we rejoice, while at the same time giving thanks for such a place as Hopkins. The Great Physician has been present with us and actually gave us a parting gift this morning as we watched a magnificent sunrise from the window of our room. The fading moon was crescent in shape and looked like a smile from heaven indicating that Walt had done well in his testimony before the doctors and nurses that have been in and out. He has endured much pain with excellent character, tremendous patience and great resolve.
Once again, thank you and virtual hugs to all of you who have donated money to the site, expressed love through your comments, and encouraged through your interest. Your friendship is valued by us. We could not have done this ( again!) without you... truly!
