Vivianna Rose’s Story

Site created on December 27, 2022

Our sweet little sunshine came 2 months early. She will have to be in the nicu until she reaches all her goals on her own. Until then mama and vivi will live at Sanford in the nicu. I have created this site to keep family and friends up to date on her and to help track her journey for her someday to see how strong and loved she is!

They say one moment can change your whole life and In one moment it did, it gave me the greatest title I have held yet, Mama.
Our sweet, beautiful, fierce and strong little girl came in to this world with a bang and I have a feeling this will be a pattern for her in life. I can already tell she has her auntie Brittany’s drive and determination from even how she entered the world. Nothing was stopping her!
We had Dominic’s amazing first Christmas concert at school and I started to feel what I thought was Braxton hicks. the last month I had been struggling with increased amniotic fluid so my appointments had become very often, I was super uncomfortable and I knew I would deliver early, just not on her terms and at 32 weeks. They couldn’t find a reason as to why my fluid was high other than my anemia (which I had from my health issues from last year) so I started with weekly iron transfusions again. By the time we were home from the concert they became more frequent and kept me up most of the night. Again thinking I was over reacting I got ready for work and headed in like normal. When I arrived to work they became super frequent, about 5 mins apart and the pain intensified so much I started to dry heave. I called in to my doctor in Alex and she said I needed to get there right now, so there I went in a blizzard, glare ice roads and in labor. I called the Mr., Who thank the lord had just came back from a week long work trip in az and told him what was going on, like normal I told him I would be fine and I would call if I needed him. (He usually knows and comes anyways lol) so he rushed over and we found out I was in fact having contractions and my doctor sent me immediately over to the hospital to stop them. 10 shots later and no stopping. They then informed us they could do a c section in Alex but they would ship baby to Fargo since she’s only 32 weeks and Alex doesn’t have a nicu. Brandon paused and said can we have the baby in Fargo so Katie is with her the entire time? Dr said you could but you risk the road conditions and she could go into labor on the road. I looked at Brandon, who you can tell prayed quick and he goes I will be back in 10 min. I am running home, grabbing a bag for us and we are hitting the road.
He loaded me up and off we were to Fargo, praying they could make it stop. We arrived safely (even though roads weren’t ideal) to where we went for our high risk appointments downtown Fargo. He wheeled me up to the 4th floor, I am pretty sure I scared a young guy for life while having a contraction in the elevator and they instantly say as we arrive at the desk oh no no no you need to go to labor and delivery in west Fargo, so back we go to the truck load up and Brandon cruises through Fargo. When we arrive they let me know they are just going to observe me for awhile and I think perfect maybe she will stay in which is what I have been told is the best for her, the doctor comes in, checks me and I am dilated to a 2. Plans change instantly and everyone kicks into tenth gear. Doctor looks at me and says congrats mama we are going to have a baby tonight.
My husband quickly prays over me and our baby, he suits up, I wheel away and I give all anxiety and fears to the lord.
Everything went so fast, Brandon held my hand and starred into my eyes keeping me calm during the delivery which was so incredibly fast and then we hear the most beautiful noise I have heard in my life, a little baby girl cry. She’s here!
I told Brandon to not let her be alone so he gets up and follows her. He gets to cut the cord, take as many photos as he can and gets to follow her around to get cleaned up. I’ve never been so jealous of him in my entire life at this point lol.
They wheel me off to recovery and we call grandparents and aunts and uncles to let them know Vivianna Rose Bartyzal has entered the world!!!!
It hits me then, I am now a mom. I hope I don’t screw this gig up lol.

We had her name luckily picked out before we knew we were going to have a baby let alone a little girl even.
Vivianna “Vivi” Rose: “Full of Life”

I wanted something with Ann in it to honor all the females on both sides that have some sort of Ann in their name, grandmas, sister in laws, nieces and great grandmas. and rose after my best friends middle name who is currently deployed in the Middle East.
The night before all of this excitement, I tucked Dominic in for bed and did our normal routine for bed time. We thank God for one item, we pray for someone and we share our favorite part of our day. When we finish this Dominic says good night to my stomach usually and lights are out. This night he decides to have a very intense convo with his sister that went like this: VIVI this is your big brother, me, Dominic. I gotta tell you something, if you hurry up and get here before 4 days you will get presents and Katie gives Willy Willy good ones. I love you good night. Kisses belly and goes to sleep.
Well she already is listening to her big brother and following through on instructions. She was here in no time!

Have I said how beautiful and perfect she is? She keeps hitting all of the goals they have for her and she’s breathing now on her own. I am praying they let me snuggle up on her today.
Thank you so much to everyone who has reached out, prayed for us and supported us quickly. Thank you so much to the Rice’s for quickly swapping the new big brother so we could get to Fargo, my parents for taking Lucy and grabbing my car and my husband for putting up with crazy, hormonal and miserable pregnant me the last 8 months. 🤣😂
We love visitors as long as we know when they are coming ahead of time. Vivi’s first visitor was the beautiful Alex Koepplin, a friend of mine from college. Since Vivi decided to come in the middle of A BLIZZARD WARNING she hasn’t had the chance to meet any of her extended family in person or most importantly her big brother who is super excited to see her! However if you are in the Fargo area and want to visit send us a message!
We thank God and give him all the glory for this miracle gift of life he has given us. We cannot wait to see this little sassy gal move mountains and have her daddy wrapped around her finger.
