Journal

Hi everyone 👋 its sarah again. Sorry the updates have been delayed we have had some busy weeks. Let's start with the good news! Wednesday Mom, Dad, Derek, and Christine ( my mother in law) will be heading downtown to meet with a new team who are all very experienced  in pancreatic  cancer treatments. We met with one of the new oncologists last week and in just the 30 minutes we felt a sence of relief. Thank you God! Thank you to Yvonne( my sister in law) for calling and getting this apointment and getting the move over to a hospital who has a team specific to what mom needs started.

This Wednesday the pancreatic tumor board will meet and discuss mom. Everything from initial diagnosis to blood work to MRIs everything!! Then they will meet with our family as a team right after. A team! Oncologists, surge
surgeons,  nutristionest... This is huge we need all of moms doctors on the same page progressing toward a goal. And they have a nurse navigator which means one point of contact who can speak to the whole team so no more telephone/text tag all day for me with multiple doctors who dont speak to eachother.A game plan! We all know there can be a lot of unknowns and what ifs with cancer but it helps to have a plan... a goal... just to know what's going on and not be left in the dark and be told "we will cross that bridge when we get there" everytime you ask a question.

2nd part of the good news is moms tumor marker. Also called CA-19-9. When she was diagnosed it was 1788. A normal healthy person would show a rating of 0-37. 2 weeks ago at chemo we found out no one had even tested for this, not once, since initial diagnosis!! Thanks to some help from someone that cares we were able to get her test re ran and results came back at 97!!! 🙏 the amount of active disease dra
dramatically decreased. This is great! Moms new team on day one of ever meeting with her even knowing it was just retested last week made it a point to retest for it again and in just one week not dropped to 44. 44! When I heard this I fell to my knees thank you lord!!! This is the best news. Keep decreasing put this horrible disease to rest. Mom is fighting so hard and her body will not let this take over. She is little but yet so determined. Keep those prayers coming they are working!

While this is great news and so good to hear there are a lot of parts to cancer. And many different medacines that she takes. One doctor made a choice to take her off the one that increases her appetite becuase it could cause blood clots. Since taking her off her appetite went from give me all the food and steady weight gain and strength which we needed to no appatite at all and no energy which can cause many other issues like not being able to get chemo becuase she is not well enough. Chemo was postponed for the 3rd time now and 2 bags of blood were given. After speaking with moms surgeon she is now back on her appitite stimulant and we are hoping to turn this back around so she can focus on healing and building up her strength.

I am sorry this is so long but I know many of you were asking for an update. My family and I have full confidence in moms new team and believe this is exactly what she needs. One step at a time one day at a time she will get through this...we will get through this. She has come so far and been through hell and back. Toughest person I know my hero! I will update you all after Wednesday with the "plan" the what's next and as always we thank you so much for the love, support, and prayers! 🙏🙏🙏
