Journal entry by VIcky Wegman —
Hi Friends of the Magical Unicorn (me 🦄),
I see it’s been quite awhile since I’ve posted. I had 2 more chemo treatments bringing it to a total of four and then a short rest period before starting 16 rounds of radiation. I am thankful to the staff who have been engaged with my process. They are all wonderfully supportive.
I still have 2 weeks of radiation to go and then a month to recover. Radiation is a weird thing. Fatigue is the main symptom but it’s hard to describe. I’m not feeling “sick” as I did in chemo but I’m scattered and losing track and that is not the normal me. It takes extra energy to stay on top of things. (Don’t laugh!)
I can’t believe what started as a 3 week journey is turning into 6 months! I keep taking it one step at a time and look forward to hearing that all this effort brings positive results.
I’m learning all about the maneuvers of the breast cancer world. My funniest tale is how I “lost” my “fake padded boob” somewhere in my day and still don’t know where….the pharmacy? radiation center? medical building? grocery store? I can only imagine the confusion of the person who found it! 🤣
I have the best support system here at home - Erhard and Tristan have been here to encourage me. I look forward to being out and about in the world again. I miss all my colleagues and friends. Thanks for keeping tabs on me!
One step at a time!! Hugs, Vicky
