Newest Update

Journal entry by Sarah and Jason Ellis

Well the best update of all-Vicki has made it home again! From late-April to June 30 so much progress has been made and will continue to be made. Steph came home to help see Vicki home and we brought all the kids and some family friends over yesterday to have supper. Her spirits are great and she seems truly relieved and happy to be home. (Although I am pretty sure we tired her out!)

Vicki is going to be doing outpatient therapy at the hospital in Emmetsburg hopefully 3 times a week. She is walking with a "regular" walker and did really well last night walking through the house. Her biggest challenge going forward will be getting her hands back to a higher level of functioning. So that is one of the things they will concentrate on at therapy.

She is doing pretty well with pain and even stated that she was able to go 1.5 days without her pain pill --so that shows improvement also. She ended up with 2 rods and 10 screws in her neck so she has a pretty impressive neck X-ray! Her wheelchair from TN should be arriving soon so that will make the longer walks a little easier for her. Until then we have a "loaner" from some family friends that she is using.

She/We are truly hoping it works out for her to make the trip to Spencer this week to see one of the last home baseball games of the season for Brendan and Landon. Ted and Vicki are always supporting and enjoying the kids' activities and that will make Vic SOOOO happy to be able to attend. Brendan has hit 3 home runs this season-would be cool if he could make it four so Vick can see it for herself-but NO PRESSURE Brendan!

If anyone would want to send well wishes--Vic's home address is 29 N Huron, Emmetsburg IA, 50536
