Vernon’s Story

Site created on February 21, 2019

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
Two years ago Vernon was diagnosed with non-hodgkins mantle cell lymphoma. His final chemo treatment occurred on Wednesday February 14th. That night he developed a high fever and was dehydrated.  He was admitted into the VA ICU via the Emergency Room, where he stayed for 6 days. He has been transferred into hospice care at the VA Community Living Center in Amarillo.
Our family deeply appreciates the VA doctors and staff and the 5-star level of care and attention Vernon and our family have received.
Through out his tribulations, he has maintained an encouraging, positive and receptive attitude, always trying to lift the spirits of those around him with jokes and uplifting words.

Journal entry by David Robinett

Mom, Kathy, Doug, and I, as well as the extended family, would like to thank all of you who followed dad’s struggle the last 5 months of his life here on CaringBridge. Your messages, prayers and support of the site meant the world to Dad and to us. Our heart is touched by your care and love for Dad and for us.
We miss our Dad, but we know he’s in a better place.

I leave you with Isaiah 40: 29-31:

“He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.”

Thank You,
The Robinett Family
