Verlyn Dean Menning, 67 of Sauk Rapids, MN passed away June 24, 2021 under the care of his wife and CentraCare Hospice to enter into his eternal rest.


Verlyn was born on June 15, 1954 in Pipestone, MN to John and Artie Menning of Edgerton, MN. He was full of creativity with skills in writing, drawing, singing, and teaching himself to play guitar in his youth. He had a gift for playing a variety of instruments and a love of music. After high school, Verlyn attended broadcasting school in Minneapolis. Throughout the years he managed several radio stations in the Midwest, taught college marketing classes, and was the Chief Disabilities Officer at True Friends Camp. During his time at a radio station Verlyn met and is survived by his wife of 25 years, Carla J Menning.


In 1971, he married Karen Kreun. He is also survived by his Daughters: Jamie (Joe) Ruppert of Plattsmouth, NE, Miranda (James) Sieh of Hampton, MN, Charity (Aaron Miller) Menning of Green Bay, WI, Sonia Menning of Green Bay, WI, Sons: Chris Menning of Green Bay, WI, 

Zach (Cassie) Spanton Minneapolis, MN. Stepchildren: Rhonda (Tom) Peters, Rosemount, MN, Pamela (Jeff) Fleck, Bismarck, ND, LeeAnn (Patrick) Tomko, Bloomington, MN, Tiffany (Jason) Ness, Moorhead, MN, Trevor Wirth, St Cloud, MN. Siblings: Arthur (Sandy) Menning, Edgerton, MN, Bob (Stella) Menning Edergton, MN, Marion (Dawn)  Menning, Salt Lake City, UT, Marilyn (Alvin) Hoekstra, Franklin, TN, Ronald (Kim) Menning, Edgerton, MN. 16 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.


Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Johnny Menning, and nephew Chad Menning. 


Verlyn’s wish was to be cremated and did not want to have a funeral or formal service.
