Journal entry by valerie kvamme

The final piece in my cancer puzzle was today. No, I didn’t get implants (see photo) but I did get my port out!  This feels like the last part of treatment.  I had a great 3 month check up a few weeks ago and they scheduled my port-ectomy (I made that up!) for today.  It was an office visit which kinda scared me.  They had me at the hospital under sedation to put it in.  How could they do it in the office?  Basically, just numb the area, make a little slit and yank it out!  I expected blood to come spurting out like on the old ‘ER’ show.  Nope, didn’t happen.  I did tell him I’ve watched a few seasons to get ready for this.  He said that ‘ER’ was on while he was in med school.  We shared a moment, then he stitched me up.  We may go out to celebrate when it warms up.  Thanks again for everything you’ve all done to get me through this!     Blessings, Val
