Journal

Valerie Laura Shepp Roberts became a heavenly angel on July 8, 2020. Cancer took our beloved Val at the age of 80. Born in California, where she spent her childhood and later moved to Washington state where she raised her two sons, Patrick and Michael Shepp. Valerie enjoyed her career as a probation officer both in Washington state, as well as in California. Val was exceptionally proud of her career. Specifically, writing sentencing reports for many judges. Life came full circle, when our beautiful Val married her best friend, Judy Roberts-Olness’s brother, Richard Roberts. Together they lived a fun filled life traveling to 59 countries, playing and marshaling at various golf events, cheering on the University of Arizona Wildcats, participating in their seniors club, and challenging everyone in board games. Of course, Val was “the hostess with the mostess”. She could turn any event into a grand party. Val left a legacy of her handmade decorations, bringing family together and participating in sporting activities.  The minute Val laughed, the entire group laughed! Her laugh and smile were contagious. Val’s love will be held in our hearts forever. Val is survived by her husband, Richard, sons Patrick (Wife, Kat) and Michael Shepp.  Her brother, Steve Donohue and her nieces Tanya, Danielle, Amy and Amanda.  Her many grandkids, Timothy and Meghan, Brandon, Brett, Ryan, Helena, Abby, Lexi and Chase. Her stepchildren, Shannon, Shelley and Brenton. A celebration of Val’s life will be held later in Tucson, Arizona and in Olympia, Washington.
In honor of Valerie’s faith, please feel free to make a donation in her name to Light the Way Lutheran Church Building Fund. 8611 N. Silverbell Road. Tucson, Arizona 85743.
