Journal
Dear Friends,
My heart aches as I share the news that Jim died today. He has been struggling to overcome all of his health ailments, but the convergence of too many battles was too much for his body. He was taken off life support and he passed quickly and gently, for which I am very grateful. Also, I was consoled by his daughter, sister and her husband, as the hospital allowed four visitors during the comfort care time. We cried, we laughed and we shared memories, some important and some silly, but all were meant to reassure and soothe us all as he tenderly slept away. We lost a great and wonderful man today. He was so giving in every way, to so many. I wonder how many lives he touched by doing tax preparation for the poor and elderly through AARP Tax Aid for ten years. And who could count how many benefited from his volunteer and professional work serving the disabled for decades, which he did with great empathy knowing disability firsthand. His friends were treasured, he cared about them their families and their happiness. Some got to sail, camp, ski and otherwise have fun with him. Children, animals, and adults all warmed to his gregarious nature that made a joy to be with. He was my best friend and I will miss him every day. Good-bye my precious love, may your sails billow and blow you to your Heavenly course.
