Journal entry by Kate Cleveland

Yesterday was the first anniversary of the day our lives changed. One year since the doctor said those words no one wants to hear. “You have cancer.” So what did we do yesterday? We celebrated!

Celebrated all that we have endured and more than that, celebrated being in a much better place now.

When I talked to the radiologist that day, she gave me a brief overview of what would likely happen in the coming weeks/months. Then she said “It’s going to be a shitty year, but you will get through it.” It was . . . and I did, so I will just leave it at that - her words are better than any I can come up with at the moment.

It sounds cliché to say it this way, but it’s so true so I am going to say it anyway . . . I couldn’t have done it without the love, support, prayers of the amazing humans that surround me in these photographs, and SO MANY MORE people in my life who love and support all of us in so many ways.
This is not over, there are still uncharted waters ahead and things I am currently trying to figure out, but we all wanted to take this opportunity to say a HUGE thank you. To YOU . . . all of you, friends and family, near and far, for all your love and support. We are so grateful each and every one of you is in our lives. 💕
