Journal entry by Mary Beth Miller —
I doubt that anyone is still reading this after so many months of silence, but this is the quickest way to share the most recent good word.
In addition to blood work last week, I also had a PET scan on Friday. We met with my oncologist today and learned that all of the tests came back normal. There is no evidence of a recurrence of lymphoma. Jack has said that every clear scan will be reason to be grateful and we are indeed grateful today.
The clear scan is a great blessing, but not a huge surprise. I have been feeling better and better over the past few months. I was able to ski a lot during our beautiful snowy winter. I learned how to skate ski! And I felt like I was doing it pretty well and I felt strong skiing. I could ski for longer and longer times as the winter went on. It was glorious.
I miss the long skis, but I've been building up my running strength and running for longer distances. My life feels so normal that it's easy to forget that I was battling cancer in the not so distance past. I even have hair again.
All good news. We are blessed.
Looking ahead, I will meet with my doctor again in three months. I'll have another PET scan every six months for the next few years.
