Journal entry by Karla Hall

Dear family and friends,
Turner had a serious accident around 3:00 am this morning. He was taken to Research Medical Center via ambulance. Glass cut through 3/4 of his upper left leg through major muscle, blood vessels, and tendons. He was in surgery for several hours. He was given 20 units of blood and we were told we almost lost him twice. At one point they thought they were going to have to amputate his leg. They were able to attach one artery. They were able to stabilize him and he moved to KU at 10:30. He has been sedated and on a ventilator all day. After several tests and consults, he went to surgery at about 5:00 and is still in a surgery. They attached the sciatica nerve, sewed his hamstrings together and are closing him up now. He is stable. In 5 to 6 months we will know how successful the surgeries have been.  We have more surgeries to come and things are still very serious. Please keep Turner in your prayers.
