Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Nathan started feeling sick on Thursday.  He came home with a fever and some nausea.  Since then he was admitted to the ICU with septic shock.  He has coded and is on life support while we hope his body can heal from this.

Journal entry by Melita Carnahan

1 year ago this was cut off Nathan's arm the first time.  And then one of the amazing nurses taped it back on  after they got him back after 45 minutes of CPR.  She told me that it would probably get replaced by next weekend, but he actually kept it for the entire 61 days he was in the ICU.  I have kept it since then as a reminder of the worst day, and then how much better it can get.  Because the second time it got cut off it was because he left the ICU alive and getting stronger every day.  It is a symbol of hope and resiliency to me.  The fact it made it the whole 61 day journey even though it wasn't supposed to mirrors the journey Nathan was on.

Thank you to the staff at TMCA.  Your dedication to your job and perseverance made a huge difference in my life.  1 year ago I could have been having the worst day of my life.  It was still an awful day, but you couldn't have changed that.
