Troy passed away this morning around 2:30 am.  It was very peaceful as he took his last breath.  Thank you so much for all of your prayers, love and support.  We have appreciated every  offer to help, meals, cards, words of encouragement and gifts.  Troy was loved by so many.  Bailey, Joel and I have felt that love through every act of kindness and support.  When he knew the path that he was on, we talked in length about his wishes.  He was very adamant about no traditional funeral service.  Not only was it not Troy's personality to have a lot of fuss made about him, but also the health and safety of friends and family was important to him so he didn't want a large gathering while Covid still is so prevalent.  Instead, he liked the ideas that I have listed below.

  • Take some time to have dinner at your local bar and grill.  If you live in Overland Park, Freddy T's at 151st and 69 Highway was his favorite.  Order the combination nachos, a side of tater tots and a beer or iced tea.  Think about your favorite Troy memory (memories)  and raise your glass to him.
  • Stop by Quick Trip and get a unsweetened, black iced tea.  This was his favorite. Drank one almost every day. As you enjoy your tea, think about Troy and all the good he did for others.  If you didn't know Troy personally, just enjoy the day sipping your tea as he would have.
  • If you are a golfer or Jayhawk fan, the next time you play a round or watch a game have a beer and think about Troy and his love for life and sports.
