Tristin’s Story

Site created on January 3, 2024

Tristin's journey with Cancer started in May of 2022, just shortly after finding out our dad was diagnosed with stage IV Pancreatic caner. Dad was diagnosed January of 2022. As a family (our big family of 8, plus some cousins) took a trip the Nag's Head, North Carolina. We had a great time.

On our way home from that trip Tristin was not feeling well. We got home and she still was not feeling great. She was having the worst headaches she's ever had in her life. She had some vomiting associated with those headaches as well.  Because she was not getting better and this was not something that she has ever felt before, dad told her to go to the ER. She went to the ER. In the ER they did a scan of her head and found a mass.  The ER doctor put in a referral to Oncology in Madison for Tristin to get in. After her appointment with him it was determined that she would have brain surgery to remove the mass. After removal her surgeon let us know that he thought she has an Astrocytoma.  The surgeon was very happy with the amount of the tumor he was able to get out.

We got the biopsy results back a few weeks later to find that she actually had Glioblastoma and it was very aggressive.  July 8th is when she started her first round of radiation. She then started chemotherapy.  We've had a journey of a couple sets of radiation and she also tried a trial drug.  The trial drug was found to not be doing anything for her tumor so we stopped that plan.

We are now brought to current day while she is in the hospital. On Jan 2nd my mom and dad were trying to get Tristin in to the car to take her to the ER because she just wasn't looking right. Her glands in her neck were VERY swollen and she was just weak.  She was not able to assist in that process at all because she was so weak. They ended up having to contact the ambulance which brought her to Theda Clark.  She was admitted and has been receiving care. The doctors are thinking that she is having a reaction to her most recent chemotherapy drug that she just started last week. It was agreed upon by all that she stop the chemotherapy and she transition to hospice.

This has been the hardest thing for our family and friends and her friends to go through. It's been so hard to see Tristin in pain and struggling. We know she's been a fighter and she was wanting to kick this tumor in the A$$ since the start. She put up a great fight and she is so  strong, brave and determined. We will continue updating her journey and we just want to say thank you for everyone's well wishes, thought's, prayers, kind words, etc. It means the world to us and we could not have a better support system behind us all.
