Journal entry by Gaylene Koehn

Tristan has been having a small issue inside his cheek.  There is a little piece of skin protruding around the incision area.  So, when he bites down he bites it.  That's been a little uncomfortable, so he went ahead and reached out to them for an appointment.  He went today by himself.  The problem in the cheek is just part of the healing.  The doctor showed him how to massage the inside and outside of his cheek, and stressed how important it is to do that. He's to use vaseline or Lanolin oil.  This is to keep the scar tissue broken up, otherwise it may grow back.  She also thought if he keeps massaging it, that it could even go down some more.  He says it really hurts to massage it, but that's because it's still healing. She also gave him a paper with exercises for his jaw.  He needs to work on opening his mouth bigger.  She was happy with the results, and took pictures for his chart.  I guess that's all for now.  We are very thankful it was successful.  Thank you for your interest.
