Trey’s Story

Site created on August 22, 2008

I am in remission from (acute lymphoblastic  leukemia) ALL T-cell type for almost 14 years now!

Hi my name is Trey Hightower I was 30 years old @ diagnosis . I have a wife named Brandi, son and daughter now . Life was normal till June 28,2008 when I got a phone call at work from my doctors office asking me to come in and re-take a blood test because there was something wrong with one of the test.  She re took the test and said it was correct. My wbc was 1,200 and rbc was 2.47 and my hemoglobin was 8. She sent me to Dr. Habernman at J.C Lewis Cancer Pavillon on 8/5/08 he did a bone marrow biopsey. On 8/8/08 our worst fears became a reality I had acute lymphoblastic leukemia. I was handed over to Dr. Luskey who is well known for being great at treating leukemia. Hospital on 8/13 for 28 days!  And here we are 14 years later!! It's been a wild ride!
I developed congestive heart failure 5/2012 after taking Doxorubicin aka red devil during my 3 years of chemo txt.  Having taken 3 of the  4 lifetime doses allowed..

Newest Update

Journal entry by Brandi Hightower

2nd cardiac stress test done today! Great news! More improvement since Dec test. Chance of needing a transplant within the next 5 years os under 5%!!!

Woo Hoo!

Dr. Said if someone handed him Trey's results today,  with out any knowledge,  he would say it was a normal 45 yr old man's! Yes yes yes!!

He told Trey that he is really dry and that he does NOT need diuretics...what what?!?!  He Also told Trey he can increase fluids to 64oz a day now.

See him again in 1 whole year!

We just feel so blessed that Trey was referred to Dr. GOSWAMI. AND has had constant improvement since... We are extremely Happy with all of this news!

I do want to add that:

1. Treys heart is still two times the size it should be.

2. That his heart function is still more than likely  at 15%.

3. That although he still has those issues, his condition is currently under control.

Tomorrow will be 15 YEARS since his leukemia diagnosis!!

WOW!
