Journal

This is the first time I’ve written on the site but Kristy’s a great writer and she’s done an excellent job on my progress to date so I thought it was better to leave you with an expert, then chiming in, at least until now.

I do want to take the time now to let you all know how thankful I am to have you all in my life, and thank you for all the drive you gave me throughout this recovery.

Bottom line, thank you so much for the memories, positive energy and happiness that made each day better than it would have otherwise been - I’m lucky to know all of you!

First of all I’d like to thank each and every one of you for taking the time out of your busy life to check in on my progression.  Since the accident it’s been incredibility difficult but without family, co workers and dear friends I doubt I would have had the energy or spirt to get up every day and start moving.

Regardless of the amount of distance one takes after not moving for a very long time you must try and be positive as your family and friends give you the energy to at least try.

What I’ve come to realize is that the people in my life were my sources of energy and passion to keep going, weather it was an inch one day and a mile the next.

I’d like to sincerely thank my family for staying so positive and being there for me when I needed them the most.  I’d like to point out the work, dedication, love and positivity my wife Kristy Tarasoff did throughout.  She was with me throughout it all and unfortunately saw the worst of my injuries but kept me positive and took the time to keep my friends informed about my progression.  At the same time she focused on our children and managed her business from Phoenix.  I’ve always had a lot of respect and admiration for her but I’m amazed that she was able to keep it all together and help me recover.

The one thing that I’ve come to realize is that you never know how much you really need someone until something like this happens to you.  We’ve spent close to 20 years together and I’m thankful for her, not only for the support she gave me throughout this accident but having met her and having her in my life.  I also want to thank my children Keylan, Andrew and Maja for giving me a psychological boost everyday and heal more quickly.

There were plenty of days I was so sore I didn’t want to get out of bed or basically move but their love gave me the energy to get up and at least give it a “dad try”.

Thirdly but far from last is my extended family and dear friends.  I’m sure the medical treatment I received was excellent in both Phoenix and Winnipeg but the benefit of having such dear friends in my life were also monumental in my overall recovery.  I don’t want you to think that I consider myself lucky for having someone run a red light and hit me while on vacation with my son Andrew,  but I do want you to know that I’m lucky for having people in my life that care about me and my family.

You never know how lucky you are until you see the actions of the people in your life around you when you need it the most.  I’ve been so fortunate in life to have family and friends that are so dear and caring people.  Thank you for being who you are!

My update: I just finished my 5th hot yoga day in a row this evening and without all of you in my life I have no doubt I wouldn’t have made it back to this stage or having the chance to celebrate my 51st birthday this month.

From the bottom of my heart thank you for supporting my recovery by checking in and staying close.  I’m so thankful to have wonderful people in my life.

Trevor
