Treva’s Story

Site created on April 6, 2022

Treva was involved in a head-on collision Monday, April 4th. Treva was in the passenger seat, her daughter (Tiana Kennedy) and her grandson (Grant Kennedy) were in the middle row of the van, and her mom (Cheryl Wolf) was driving her own van. They were following a semi on Rt 40 when an oncoming car unexpectedly side-swiped the rear end of the semi. Cheryl tried her best to avoid the car by getting completely off to the right side of the road. Unfortunately, the car struck them head on.

Tragically, Cheryl passed away at the scene of the accident. Thankfully, Tiana and Grant sustained only minor injuries and were released from CGH hospital in Sterling that same day. Treva was also taken to CGH for x-rays and scans. Thankfully, they found no significant head trauma. However, Treva was losing blood somewhere in her abdomen, so she was soon flown to Rockford to manage that. Upon arriving in Rockford, they took her into emergency surgery right away. Doctors successfully assessed the damage and stopped the bleeding.

Treva is a baptized Christian. She cherishes her faith, family, and friends. Treva has received hundreds of well-wishes, thoughts, and prayers. The Kennedy, Wolf, and Sabin families want to thank everyone for supporting us through this time. Treva is putting up an incredible fight, and we pray for continued progress.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Tiana Kennedy

This update is from Treva.  I am so thankful for all of the support that my family and I have received since the accident in April. I am pleased to report that the doctors are amazed at the progression of my healing process. My stomach wound is almost closed up.  I am getting stronger each day and give great thanks that I am beginning to resume my daily routines and responsibilities.
All of the EMTs, doctors, nurses, therapists, and medical professionals have given me such wonderful care.  I am thankful for their knowledge and abilities, and the compassion they give to so many each day.
This entire tragedy has definitely impacted my life forever.  Of course, with the loss of my mom, life takes on a whole new chapter; but I am very blessed to be recovering as well as I am.
My family and friends have given me the greatest care.  I cannot express how much their kindness means to me and how it has helped me in recovering.
The surrounding communities, churches,  businesses… have reached out to me by providing meals, helping with farm responsibilities, prayers, gifts, and notes and words of encouragement, and in so many ways.
I also extend thanks to all of you for your prayers, support, encouragement, and love.
All thanks, praise, and glory to God for giving me strength through this fragile time in my life.
Life is very precious. Cherish each moment and the many blessings that we have been given.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him and He will make your paths straight.
