Today is the 100th day.

For children in school, the 100th day of school is always celebrated. For those who have lost a loved one, it’s a day to reflect and maybe even celebrate too.  For you see we have survived 100 days.  For some maybe by this time, we are beginning to come out of the fog that took over our lives the moment a loved one died, or maybe the numbness is beginning to go away or maybe we’ve been so busy dealing with our loved one’s affairs that now we are just slowing down and beginning the grieving process.  There are no rules and there is no right or wrong way to grieve and there is no time limit!

So what will you do on this 100th day of losing a loved one, a family member, a friend, a coworker?  I’m going to celebrate that I made it one more day. I’m going to celebrate Trent loved me unconditionally and gave me 3 beautiful and amazing children.  I’m going to celebrate that Trent was a gift from God and he is now back in the arms of Jesus. I’m going to celebrate that I have some amazing family and friends who have been there when I needed them and gave me space when I needed that too. And I’m going to celebrate that God loves me and has held me up this past 100 days and will continue to do so forever.

Trent is in Heaven, the most precious place anywhere.  A place so amazing that our minds can’t even begin to comprehend its glory.  If God were to ask me today if I wanted Trent to come back from Heaven my answer would be a definite and absolute NO.  Do I miss Trent?  Absolutely I do and my heart still physically hurts. But who am I to ask Trent to give up Heaven for my selfish self?  Instead, I’m going to celebrate I have one more day with my children, grand-baby, family and friends. The pain of losing Trent will always be there but I know he would not want any of us to stop living. Trent loved life to the fullest and that’s my goal for today.  Grief is a journey through many mountains and valleys.  Today let’s all be on top of that mountain to celebrate Trent.  Remember, Trent is the Winner!
