Journal entry by Jeni Deibel

About six weeks ago, my nephew Trenton (newly married and a soon to be father) was admitted to the hospital with strange symptoms along with a fever and cough. After arriving at Mercy he went down hill very quickly and the Doctors diagnosed him with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome. Trenton tested negative for COVID 19 thankfully, but little did we know this heartbreaking and terrifying journey would take us down a road of uncertainty. Trenton was intubated, placed in an induced coma and paralyzed. His lungs just weren't able to function, at all. The medical team at Mercy worked so hard trying to get him to show even the smallest improvement but he was not responding. Trenton's Mom and Dad, and wife Kensie didn't leave his side for several weeks. Because Trenton wasn't responding the next step was to move him to Barnes for a lung transplant. The amount of prayers from family, friends, strangers and the medical team, were so incredibly needed and by Divine intervention, he started showing tiny improvements, but they were HUGE improvements to his parents and everyone around him!! We are so blessed and relieved beyond belief that he continues to improve today. He was just transferred to a rehabilitation center!! There he will heal and gain his strength back and learn to walk again! The road ahead will be a long one for sure but we'll take it!! We are asking for continued prayers and thoughts for Trenton and Trenton's family, especially his wife Kensie and their baby on-the-way. We know this is a really hard time for everyone, emotionally, financially and healthfully due to COVID 19 and probably the worst time to ask for help. As the days and weeks pass, more and more medical bills continue to pile up for Trenton and his family. He is not currently working and will not be able to for while due to this long recovery. Trenton's parents are helping as much as they can but as a new family starting out and baby on the way the family could really use some support, of any and all kind! If you have the ability and resources to donate, they would be so eternally grateful.  No amount is too small and every donation, prayer or gesture would be appreciated beyond words. We will continue to update this site with his progress as much as we can throughout this journey. Thank you for taking the time to read this thank you in advance for your consideration to help Trenton, Kensie and Baby King.

With love and thanks to all,
